If there's one thing I've learned in my years of reviewing mattresses, it's that a good mattress isn't just about what's on the inside, but how that's executed. It was with this knowledge in play, I put the Simba Sleep Hybrid Essential Mattress to test, in-store and keenly observed its performance across all essential and auxiliary components.
Right off the bat, I was impressed by the utilitarian yet attractive soft-touch, stretch knit cover. It's breathable and contours neatly around the body - a plus point for restless sleepers who toss and turn before settling into a comfy position. But my enthusiasm was tempered by the fact that the cover isn't removable, making a mattress protector essential. You'll want to keep the Simba Hybrid Essential fresh and clean as long as possible, especially as it cannot be simply tossed in the wash like some of its competitors' covers.
When it came to comfort, the Simba Sleep Hybrid Essential Mattress struck a fine balance between support and cushy comfort. The 1000 Aerocoil® conical springs and the 20mm Simbatex® foam layer in unison provided an excellent surface for pressure relief. Still, my experience tells me some people, especially side sleepers with an hourglass figure, might find the medium to firm tension a touch too firm for their liking. However, for average weight side sleepers and back sleepers, this tension works pretty well, offering optimal support and comfort.
One of the standout features in the mattress's construction is its zoned CertiPUR® foam base. The segmentation into five different zones makes this mattress a great choice for those who experience waking up with nagging back or joint pains. It encourages healthy sleep posture and alignment which could potentially alleviate your discomfort. Though, there's always a hint of scepticism about how much zoning can influence comfort and support. Zoning or not, a mattress's overall feel plays a far more decisive role in most cases, and thankfully, this mattress doesn't disappoint.
And then there's the cooling factor - something mattresses with foam tend to grapple with. The Simbatex® foam is infused with graphite which aids in increasing air circulation, aiming to disperse heat and humidity. I'm yet to come across a foam mattress that truly offers a perpetually cool bed-through-the-night experience. This one is no exception. Simba has made commendable efforts here, but on particularly warm days, some sleepers may still find themselves uncomfortably hot.
The mattress ticks all the right boxes when it comes to delivery and care. It comes conveniently rolled in a box, ready to be manoeuvred to the room of your choice, and the easy care feature - only needing regular rotation, not flipping, adds to the perks.
The Simba Sleep Hybrid Essential Mattress has a lot going for it - its medium to firm comfort makes it well-tailored to a broad range of sleepers, the zoned design is a tangible nod to those with specific posture-related needs, and the mattress's general construction speaks of solid durability. But, as with all things, it may not be a universal hit. Some may find the necessity of a mattress protector a hassle; others might feel the heat regulation isn't up to their expectations. All elements considered, the Simba Sleep Hybrid Essential Mattress is for those who value substantial, contoured support in a mattress that won't break the bank, appreciating quality traditional spring comfort with a touch of modern foam innovation.

Bought this a few months back, not too bad. It's comfortable enough and I seem to sleep okay on it. The heat regulation is a nice touch for warmer evenings.
