About the Simba Sleep Earth Source Mattress

Last checked

Today, I'm exhilarated to share my insights on the enthralling Simba Sleep Earth Source Mattress. Renowned for its ingenious fusion of wholesome natural materials and innovate mattress technology, this mattress certainly piqued my interest during our in-store testing sessions. Simba Sleep, a household name in the mattress industry, flaunts the artistry in this creation by prioritizing our comfort and support needs above all.

Design & Comfort

The Earth Source Mattress stood out with its thoughtful integration of British wool, giving it naturally impressive breathability, support, and durability. Admiring its fabric, I found myself imagining the warming touch in winter nights and pleasingly chilled sensation in hot summer nights. This mattress offers a delightful all-season sleep solution which is something I personally found very appealing. However, do not be mistaken, the enhancing layers of wool don't stop at comfort. An additional layer of British Wool fortifies the mattress’s stability, enhances breathability, and proffers additional support.

Highly traceable and naturally sustainable, the Hampshire wool layers uncloaked an innovative approach to nighttime temperature regulation. The breathable wool fibres work diligently to maintain an ideal body temperature during your slumber. It reduces humidity and simultaneously bolsters a durable support system. However, I was left slightly skeptical. Setting romanticism aside, wool, as luxurious and comfortable as it may be, is a notorious heat trap. This aspect may feel abrasive for hot sleepers or those with a penchant for a cooler sleeping environment.

Body Support & Motion Transfer

Leaning towards the firmer end of the spectrum, The Simba Earth Source Mattress is abundant in aptly engineered 1900 Aerocoil® conical springs, creating a pressure relief system that moulds and adjusts to your body's contours throughout the night. I particularly admired how these springs played a dual role as they also helped reducing motion transfer and partner disturbance, which is something a lot of us can have issues with.

However, from my years of experience, the coil system in the Simba Earth Source mattress, although innovative, might not be the best option for those with pronounced body curves or substantially higher body weight. The pressure relief might not be abundant, and a comfort compromise may be necessary. That being said, a plus point was the springs' airflow trait which promises a cooler sleep. Ingenious, given wool's warmer nature.

Deep-diving into Details

Housing a CoreMAX™ Sprung Base with 1000 zoned pocket springs, the mattress is designed to focus on seven key support zones. The idea is to nudge the balance between comfort and support in the direction of support for the more weight-bearing areas of your body. It aims to optimize spinal alignment and give your pressure points the relief they crave. Additionally, the optimised sleep surface gives you the freedom to enjoy the entirety of the mattress – edge-to-edge.

I did have my qualms about the effectiveness of the zoned pocket springs. From my testing experience, it seemed that the zoning technique could echo a noticeable inconsistency for sleepers who move a lot during sleep, causing your slumber to transition from one firmness level to another.

Wrapping up and Maintenance

A plant-derived viscose damask cover encapsulates the intricate aerocoil structure for a smooth, breathable, and durable sleep experience. The cover was soft to the touch, creating a very inviting sleep surface. Yet, I was met with a slight disappointment as the cover is not removable for washing. I suggest potential buyers to invest in a sturdy and breathable mattress protector to prolong the lifespan of this mattress.

Bearing in mind proper mattress care, the Earth Source mattress from Simba Sleep is no-turn, requiring merely a straightforward rotation regularity as per the care guide instructions. This is quite a relief for those who find flipping mattresses troublesome. However, for optimal longevity and performance, I recommend airing your mattress out frequently and resetting it to its natural form every once in a while.

Final Verdict

The Simba Earth Source Mattress has to be given credit for ensuring high-quality sleep and making a conscientious effort to offer comfort in every season. The medium-firm support makes it an idyllic choice for back and side sleepers, offering substantial support for the spine. However, side sleepers with an hourglass body shape might want to seek out something softer for more sinkage.

This mattress might not be the best option for those who prefer minimalist sleep products or who have fluctuating weight. That being said, considering its reputable traceability, robust breathability, sublime firmness, and durability, I would recommend the Simba Earth Source Mattress to those seeking a sleep setup that is charmingly wrapped in traditional comfort but is not afraid to step into innovative territories.

The level of comfort does seem satisfactory, providing decent support throughout the night. However, breathability could be better, even though it's satisfactory for warmer months.

Was quite disappointed with the quality of sleep and comfort. Have slept on Simba mattresses before and was so impressed. So expected really big things of this mattress. Our quality of sleep and comfort is comparable, if not marginally worse now, than when sleeping on a high-street brand mattress, that is a fraction of the price. It's passible, it's not uncomfortable, but not at up to the quality of Simba mattresses we have experienced

We wanted to buy a mattress with more natural materials. We were impressed with Simba's Earth range which is UK made, uses more natural materials and the company is B corp. Delivery was quick and easy to arrange. The mattress itself is firm but very comfortable (which I found surprising as I usually like softer mattresses).

It's been a week of use and it's easily the test mattress I have slept in my 30 years of existence. Materials feel very luxurious and it has the right balance between firm and soft.

It was for my mum, she didn't want to try out the mattress as we have a simar one already, therefore did not actually try it that's why I have given a 3 as I do not know how it feels to sleep on it

Arrived quickly and was as advertised - great material, comfortable, correct firmness. Will have to see how it wears in but so far the quality seems excellent.

Quality mattress, just the right amount of firmness. Had a great first night's sleep and loved the initial smell (it goes away), which wasn't the VOCs you normally get off new furniture but lovely hemp and flax instead. I sleep easier knowing my mattress is made of natural materials, locally grown and crafted into a little piece of heaven.

We have been long overdue a new mattress and The Simba Earth source Mattress has been the perfect choice for us. From the first nights sleep on this mattress my wife slept through the night for the first time in months, which meant I had a good nights sleep because I wasn't woken by her moving about in bed. I also woke up without a stiff back for the first time in ages. This has worth every penny. Definitely recommend this mattress.

It's a very comfortable mattress, and I was pleased to be able to buy one made of natural materials. It is clearly a good quality mattress with a long warranty length. Delivery was well communicated and they took my old mattress and all packaging away with them.

I'd heard of Simba mattresses as good quality and a long lasting investment but always thought of memory foam. Was so pleased to see their Earth care range... Natural materials that will not clog up a land fill site one day and I was very happy to see English wool as one of the components as know our sheep farmers struggle to find a viable market for their fleece. I'm a health care worker, not on a huge income and was extremely greatful for the discount. Mattress arrived swiftly, seems extremely well made and long lasting. (I bought the 'Source' which is classed as their basic in the range and if money is no option I'm sure the 'Escape' or 'Apex' are even more awesome. Firmer than I was expecting initially, but this softened after the first week, or I just got used to it. Works brilliantly for me as a predominantly belly sleeper. Thank you. I sleep comfortably with a clear conscience.

We originally ordered the hybrid pro as the earth source was new and had little reviews. After returning the hybrid pro as it was too hot and did not provide enough support for us we decided to try the earth source and we could not be happier. It is a very comfortable yet firm mattress and the quality of our sleep has really gone up. No horrible off gassing smells on arrival and when it reaches the end if it's life it doesn't need to get thrown into landfill. It really is a no brainer! Very happy customers

Lovely comfy mattress though not as luxurious feeling or thick as I would have thought for the price. Love that it's eco friendly this was my main motivation for choosing this one, we needed a new mattress due to husbands bad shoulders and bag and this has definitely helped him

Since purchasing this mattress, everything is so much better! I've slept for 8 hours every night, my back is no longer in bits, and I feel completely rested every morning! The fact that it's made using natural materials is a huge bonus too! I would definitely recommend!!
