I've recently had the opportunity to experience the Silentnight Luxe Ortho Support Firm mattress first-hand on the shop floor of our Kent-based showroom, and I must say, there's quite a lot to unpack—quite literally.
As someone who has been working in the mattress industry for years, I can't help but be immediately drawn to the classiness of this silentnight creation. Let's begin with the cover, made from Tencel™, known for its sustainability and luxurious soft touch. It's twice as soft as cotton and superb at temperature regulation—a detail that any hot sleeper would truly appreciate.
Now, 'comfort' is subjective when it comes to mattresses, but the Silentnight Luxe Ortho mattress has a firm comfort rating. Firm mattresses are quite the bedfellows for back sleepers and some stomach sleepers. Why? It's because they offer the right level of resistance to keep the spine aligned without causing discomfort. However, side sleepers or those with hourglass figures might not share the same sentiment. With its firm tension, it could lead to some discomfort, failing to offer the sinkage they need for their hips and shoulders. That's always been something I've been keenly aware of—but remember, that's just my observation from the shop floor.
Moving closer onto the mattress’s inner workings, it's interesting to observe Silentnight's unique Miracoil® system, composed of a generous 782 springs promising 'no roll together'. This should mean minimal partner disturbances—a claim we took with a grain of salt. Although we couldn't test this feature's full potential on the salesfloor, customer reviews do seem to validate this promise, with many praising how the disturbance level of their partners' tossing and turning had notably reduced.
That's not all. The mattress also boasts a layer of Eco Comfort Fibres™ that not only maximises breathability but also adds a 'feel-good' factor, with the knowledge that 78% of it is made from recycled materials. However, one could question whether this fibre configuration would stand the test of time and sustain the mattress durability—something that only a long home trial could reveal.
The maintenance of this mattress was a breath of fresh air. It is an easy-care non-turn mattress that only requires simple rotation. This could be a significant advantage, especially for those with lower mobility. However, you may need to question whether this would affect the longevity of the mattress over time—often flipping, and turning mattresses can extend their shelf life.
The potential buyer for this mattress, in my opinion, places a high emphasis on support and firmness, revels in the luxury of a soft-touch cover, and values sustainability. If you are a back or a stomach sleeper seeking a mattress that respects your need for firm support while ensuring a cool, dry sleep environment, the Silentnight Luxe Ortho Support Firm mattress is most certainly a contender.
Yet, for all its strengths, it might be too firm for side sleepers or people with an hourglass figure. And for those couples who share bed, it could be worth taking Silentnight's 'no roll together' promise into consideration. If you decide to go for it, you'll also enjoy a free 5-year guarantee. Yet, do keep in mind the ease of maintenance might be overshadowed by questions about durability. However, when you weigh the pros and cons, the scales tip slightly in favour of the Silentnight Luxe Ortho Support Firm mattress.

Honestly I was expecting a little more comfort from this product. It's pretty firm, perhaps too much for my liking. But it does seem quite durable and the temperature regulation is decent.
