About the Flaxby Masters Guild 3450 Pocket Sprung Mattress
Last checked
Back and stomach sleepers are the obvious audience for the Flaxby Masters Guild 3450, because its firm, 5 of 5 feel is paired with a traditional pocket-sprung construction rather than a sink-in foam comfort system. This is a traditional, high-tension build. The 3450 spring figure puts it well above basic 1000-pocket mattresses, and the Cortec spring unit is the more interesting part of the spec: glue-free, recyclable springs are unusual in a sector that still leans heavily on bonded foam layers and mixed-material assemblies that are awkward to separate later. The natural filling stack - British wool, hemp and cotton - is also a credible choice for this tier, offering surface cushioning and moisture management without the slow, enveloping response of memory foam. Traditional tufting and two rows of side stitching point to a mattress designed to hold its fillings in place and keep the borders tidier under load, although tufting also reinforces the firmer, more braced sleeping surface. Compared with memory-foam hybrids, this is less about pressure-hugging softness and more about upright support, breathability and a cleaner, more traditional feel beneath the sleeper.
The firmness is the dividing line. Back sleepers, especially those who dislike the dipped-in sensation of foam, are the natural fit here, and the strongest praise centres on deeper sleep, lower-back support, a cooler feel and the sense of lying on a well-made mattress rather than being swallowed by it. A recurring pattern is that the mattress can feel harder than expected at first, with some people describing an adjustment period of a few weeks before the support feels more comfortable; that lines up with the firm spring unit and tufted natural fillings, which do not give the instant plushness of pillowtop foam. The same construction creates the main complaint: several dissatisfied buyers found it too hard, with discomfort severe enough to prompt exchange intentions, and that criticism appears even where the mattress was expected to feel more forgiving. Side sleepers and hourglass body shapes are the risky match, because hips and shoulders need more give than this tension is likely to allow, while heavier back sleepers may appreciate the firmer hold and reduced sink. Temperature feedback is more positive, with the non-foam build and wool, hemp and cotton layers matching comments about sleeping cooler and avoiding the trapped, hot feel associated with memory foam. Motion transfer receives some praise in the longer feedback, but the buying call is simpler: it suits firm-mattress loyalists wanting a breathable, traditional pocket-sprung bed, while side sleepers chasing pressure relief are better served by a medium pocket-sprung model with deeper comfort layers or a softer hybrid.

Woke up less creaky since swapping to this pocket sprung mattress, and it feels properly supportive without being like sleeping on a plank. Its on the firmer side but still comfy, and it seems to stay nicely cool through the night.
Beneficial for back sleepers, this mattress has a superb combination of comfort and support. The use of locally sourced, natural materials enhances its temperature regulation properties.
This is the third Flaxby mattress I have purchased. The quality and comfort is always perfect. The mattress is supportive and comfortable.
Excellent mattress, beautifully made and extremely comfortable
If you prefer a tradition non Foam Mattress this is the one. Now feel we are on the bed rather than trapped in foam getting hot and not in a hole. Its also a thinner mattress that you don't need steps to get on too!
I feel the dreams scanning system and the staff helped me pick out a great mattress.
A great traditionally made, natural mattress. We had such a comfortable bed whilst staying in a holiday apartment, that we made a note of the name and found that Dreams stocked the very mattress. It's so comfy and now We Are On Holiday All The Time!
Great product, very well made, comfiest mattress ever. If you want a great nights sleep you wont go wrong with the Flaxby
Great mattress. Goldilocks would love it - not too firm, not too soft, not too hot, not too cold - its just right! We are very happy with our purchase. Thanks
The Flaxby Master's Guild 3450 Pocket Sprung Mattress arrived well packaged and at the expected time and date. My husband sleeps well on it. I find it supportive and comfortable, neither too firm or too soft. However, it has taken me a few weeks to get used to. I understand this is to be expected with any new mattress. It's an advantage that it only needs to be rotated, not turned, as mattresses are heavy.
The mattress is super comfortable and the man in the shop was lovely and helpful. Unfortunately the delivery men were unhelpful- i paid for them to bring the bed inside I am 89 years old - they very reluctantly took the old mattress downstairs but said they would be done for fly tipping if they left it outside ( i arranged for council to pick it up),
We received excellent service on both our visits to the store. The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
So i boughts the bed sees, and it's firm, but I accidentallys bought the medium/firm split, which unbeknownst to me is two seperate feelings, anyhows the dreams folks sorted it rights outs and mades the beds nice. Posted it straights to the bedroom they did. I been sleepings likes I nevers sleeps before.
Good night sleep .struggle to get out of bed in morning so comfy.
A really comfortable mattress. Harrison Spink never let you down for quality and comfort.
I couldnt be more happy with the mattress I bought from Dreams. The mattress is even more comfortable than I had anticipated and my sleep has improved.
Not as comfy as expected, it was too firm for us, had to exchanged it for another one, but good you have the 100 night policy, good service on that.
Comfortable. Also lighter than our previous mattress which makes turning easier.
Does exactly as advertised! Ensures a great nights sleep
Weve been extremely happy with the Flaxby Masters Guild 3450 Pocket Sprung Mattress. From the first night, it felt noticeably supportive while still being comfortable and luxurious. The mattress strikes a great balance between firmness and cushioning. The high pocket spring count provides excellent support, particularly for the lower back, while the natural fillings add a soft, breathable feel that prevents the mattress from feeling too hard or rigid. Its supportive without being uncomfortable, and you dont sink in too much. Motion transfer is minimal, which is a big plus for anyone sharing a bed — movements are hardly noticeable. The build quality feels premium throughout, from the stitched edges to the overall weight and structure of the mattress. It genuinely feels like a well-made, long-lasting product. Temperature regulation is another standout. The natural materials help keep the mattress cool and comfortable through the night, even during warmer conditions. Overall, this mattress feels like a real upgrade in terms of comfort, support, and sleep quality. Its ideal if youre looking for a supportive mattress with a touch of luxury, and it definitely lives up to the Masters Guild name. Highly recommended.
