Our Thoughts On The Simba Sleep Earth Apex Mattress

There's an undeniable charm that envelops the world of mattresses. Discussing firmness levels, spring counts, and all things comfort can be soothing in itself. But amongst the ocean of mattresses out there swims a distinctive creature, a mattress that embraces the classic blend of new technology and time-tested materials - The Simba Sleep Earth Apex Mattress. After getting the chance to test this mattress in our store, I'm here to provide a balanced, comprehensive review with discernable opinionated thoughts.

Say Hello to Luxurious Comfort

The brilliance of the Simba Earth Apex Mattress lies in its harmonious interaction between classic comfort and cutting-edge design. Walking into the store, the luxurious air it exudes was striking; I was intrigued by its promise of an exquisite sleep experience. It's not just another mattress; it's a beautiful fusion of natural materials and technology designed to transform how we rest.

Embrace of Natural Materials

When it comes to the comfort layer, I cannot gloss over the appeal of the opulent Cashgora Wool & Silk cushioning. Interacting with it during my store visit, it seemed like it was designed for those ultimate comfort-first sleepers out there. Not to forget, the use of resilient Hampshire wool within the mattress showed a commitment to sustainable, functional design. This combination creates a form that holds its shape, cradling your body exquisitely. With this, every night could feel like a pampering session.

Spring Design and Breathability

Love staying cool while sleeping? The Earth Apex mattress unleashes air flow effortlessly. This is attributed to the 5700 triple layer Aerocoil® conical springs that enhance breathability and expression of pressure relief function. Based on my store test, the mattress stood out in its ability to offer a tailor-made support system while also limiting motion transfer - an ideal feature if you're sharing your bed.

However, the abundant spring count does present a potential concern. Some buyers have recounted noise issues when tossing and turning. It didn't show while testing in the store, but over a prolonged period of use at home, this concern might bubble up.

My Personal Take on Support and Firmness

The CoreMAX™ Sprung Base containing 1000 pocket springs showed a well-executed zoned design concept. It has the potential to enhance aligned body support and lessen the mornings with stiffness or aches. However, I found the mattress leaning a tad more towards the firmer end of 'medium to firm.' It's a subjective matter, although it's important for potential customers to consider their preferences, particularly if you gravitate towards a softer mattress.

Product Lifetime and Maintenance

The Earth Apex mattress makes a powerful statement with its 10-year guarantee. The sentiments of longevity and assurance were palpable and added a sense of trust in the product. Plus, I have a soft spot for mattresses easy to care for. So, the 'no turn, just rotate' aspect was a delightful touch.

Air of Opulence

Finally, the plant-derived viscose damask cover encompassed the mattress beautifully, adding a layer of elegance and durability. It did feel indulgent to touch, and that made the whole experience stand out during my store test.

In conclusion, after evaluating the Simba Earth Apex Mattress, I found it to be a striking contender which invests in ergonomic design and grandeur materials. Yet, the slightly firm touch and potential noise concerns with prolonged use offer a counterweight to consider. The Earth Apex mattress invites us to rethink comfort and bring a taste of luxury into our bedrooms. And though it's with slight reservations, I would still recommend this mattress to any customer seeking a serenely opulent, supportive sleep experience.

Pros and Cons

  • The extensive use of natural materials such as British wool and cashgora wool in the construction ensures a comfortable yet environmentally friendly sleeping experience.
  • Several users complimented the balance between soft comfort and sturdy support that the mattress provides, attributing it to the CoreMAX™ sprung base and 5700 Triple layer Aerocoil® conical springs.
  • Many reviews praised the high breathability of the mattress, contributing to a temperature-regulated, cooler night sleep, regardless of the season.
  • Customers were satisfied with the thick 32cm mattress height, which provided a luxurious and cozy feel, adding to the overall sleep quality.
  • The hassle-free maintenance with the no-turn requirement and simple regular rotation was much appreciated by users, who found it an added bonus to an already high-quality product.
  • Given its substantial 32cm height, some customers with low bed frames may find the mattress a bit too high and might face difficulties in climbing on and off it.
  • Although no-turn mattresses are more convenient, a few customers would have liked if the Simba Apex Mattress had the ability to turn over as it might potentially prolong the mattress's lifespan.
  • Due to its medium-firm tension, certain side sleepers, especially those with an hourglass shape, may have wanted the mattress to be a touch softer for better comfort and sinkage.

Empirical Data Of Simba Sleep Earth Apex Mattress

We have took a deep dive into the specifications and customer reviews to bring the below dataset. Be advised that the modelling assumes average weight and so suitability may vary.

Suitability
Back Sleepers

For back sleepers, the level of support a mattress provides is influenced by its firmness and the type of support layer used, with considerations tailored to those of an average build to ensure proper spinal alignment and comfort.

Suitability
Side Sleepers

For side sleepers, it’s important to have a mattress with a supportive tension that strikes the right balance—neither too firm nor too soft. This ensures the hips and shoulders can sink adequately, promoting proper spinal alignment and overall comfort.

Suitability
Stomach Sleepers

For stomach sleepers, a mattress should provide a firm and supportive base layer to offer adequate body contouring and prevent aches and pains. The level of support needed may vary depending on your body type and build.

Performance
Breathability

Mattresses designed with breathable materials enhance airflow, allowing heat to dissipate and helping to regulate your body temperature throughout the night. This not only keeps you comfortable but also provides a hygienic sleeping environment.

Performance
Turning on mattress

Some materials, such as memory foam, can make it harder to move or reposition yourself as you sleep, due to their contouring nature. Similarly, pillow-top designs, while offering a plush feel, can reduce movement making turning more challenging.

Performance
Stability

Stability is influenced by the type of support layer used, affecting edge-to-edge support and the prevention of roll-together. For instance, pocket springs with a firmer tension typically offer greater stability compared to softer open coil designs.

Odour
Reduced Initial Odour

Some mattresses, especially those made with memory foam or delivered as rolled bed-in-a-box options, may have a noticeable smell when first unpacked. This initial odour usually fades significantly within 24 hours as the materials air out.

Odour
Reduced Standing Odour

In some mattresses, certain material compositions can lead to a longer-lasting odour that may persist beyond the typical airing-out period. This is more common in products with dense foams or certain adhesives, but proper ventilation can help reduce the scent over time.

Bear in mind, I found the mattress rather sufficient in terms of comfort and support. However, I can't entirely dismiss the possibility of a better experience with other brands in the same ballpark.

We had a very comfortable Dunlopillo before but the Apex mattress beats that and all the others we tested as well. It is so soft and luxurious but also supportive and we've never looked forward to going to bed so much. It is fairly thick but I've never felt the edge give the way some others do; some I was concerned about getting too close to the edge and rolling off.

Having previously owned a Simba memory foam hybrid mattress when we got our Apex we knew that the quality was going to be amazing, but we can't believe just how amazing this mattress is! Yes they are expensive, but worth every penny! We will be using this mattress for the next 8-10 years so it is worth investing in a quality item such as the Apex.

Well after SIX absolutely dreadful Simba Hybrids, we changed to an Earth one. We are hoping this one won't dip to the point where we were sleeping on the side of a hill. Thus far however, we are very pleased with the new one. Seems supportive & after a week or two is comfortable. Obviously we'll hold our thoughts for a few more weeks but so far, so good.

We had a really expensive branded king size mattress for a year and we never got on with it, but when I got pregnant I couldn't bear sleeping on it and resorted to the sofa for the first 3 months! Cue the Simba Earth mattress- FINALLY we are back in one bed, sleeping together and we both get a really good night sleep, even in this hot weather. A miracle! I normally sleep on my tummy and my husband on his back, but due to pregnancy I have had to change to the recommended side sleeping. I can honestly say I fall asleep easily on the mattress, in spite of being in a different sleeping position.

We are side sleepers and the mattress has been ideal.

Doesn't matter if you're a front, side, or back sleeper - this mattress is perfect for any sleeping position and has been very comfortable without overheating even during this heatwave. Since getting my mattress over a week ago, I have slept better than I have for many years (and possibly ever). It is so comfortable that even for a person who usually prefers to be up and about, I have enjoyed spending time taking much needed rests. Thoroughly recommend this mattress.

We spend a third of our lives asleep, yet most people under pay on mattresses thinking of them as luxury items. We opted for a super kind earth Apex and have been happy to see its worth every penny. Not only is it incredibly comfortable, but all of the details and finish are excellently made. Highly recommend!

Last mattress was a Simba hybrid and this has been even better. We had to change due to a flood and decided to try the Earth. I can honestly say we have found the most comfy, supportive mattress we have ever had. No its not cheap but you definitely get what you pay for. Great deal including pillows and duvet. Well happy.

I actually swapped a Simba Hybrid Luxe for this mattress under the Simba 200 night trial and I'm much happier with this mattress. It seems cooler on warm nights and that is important to me. I understand it contains little or no foam so that may be a factor. It provides firm support but there is some give/flex in the support so it feels slightly more comfortable to me than the Hybrid Luxe. I think it's worth the extra expense. There's no zip-off top cover with this design, so you'll need a mattress protector to keep things in tip top condition. Overall I'm very pleased with this mattress.

The bed base and mattress arrived within 3 days. The delivery went smoothly with the VIP option - I didn't need to do anything. The bed base is sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. The Earth Apex mattress exceeds expectations so far ( after3 weeks) it feels like floating on a gentle breeze, whilst the supportive element is excellent. It's made a massive difference to my sleep hygiene. Well worth this investment buy.

If Ither a car this comfortable, I would pay a lot more than I did for this mattress. I spend a third of my life on it, so it is worth every penny.

We decided to invest in upgrading our mattress to the best we could afford. It's important to us to have all natural materials and not be sleeping on plastic / manmade fibres, but this is not easy to find. There are other 'luxury' brands who use natural materials but they didn't have such good reviews as Simba so we took the plunge. Our old mattress was actually really good, just old, so we would have been happy with something at least as good as that. We were so wrong!!! The Simba Earth Apex makes me wonder how I even slept on our previous mattress... It is leagues above. The quality and craftsmanship is superb and it is so, so, so, comfortable. I sleep on my front, back, and side and it's 10/10 comfy in all positions. It feels like sinking into a cloud when you get in, yet it's also extremely supportive (we prefer a firmer mattress). We went for the super king and have absolutely no regrets. If you can afford it, go for it! You won't regret the investment.
