About the Sealy Redcliffe Backcare Extra Firm Mattress
Last checked
Back support, rather than cushioning, is the Redcliffe’s whole proposition. The meaningful specification is its tension: firm, 5 of 5, which puts it at the uncompromising end of domestic mattresses and aims to hold the pelvis high rather than let the hips settle into the bed. That is an honest Backcare interpretation, but a conservative one: compared with memory-foam hybrids or softer pillow-top builds, the comfort story here is not contouring pressure relief, it is a flatter sleep surface with less give under the heaviest parts of the body. For people who equate comfort with pronounced sink, this will feel austere. The Backcare name reads more practically than medically; a high-tension mattress can reduce the hammocking that aggravates some lower backs, yet it cannot adapt around shoulders and hips in the way a more profile-aware comfort build can. Sealy’s positioning makes most sense for a sleeper who wants resistance from the first contact, not a slow-moulding top layer. The proposition is narrow, but clear.
The extra-firm tension drives suitability more than any brand language, and the positive reviews line up with that logic: back sleepers and firm-mattress loyalists repeatedly describe immediate support, less tossing and turning, and in several cases an improvement in backache. Stomach sleepers may also get on with it, because the firmer surface helps stop the midsection dropping too far, while partners with different comfort preferences may find the feel divisive rather than universally comfortable. Side sleepers are the obvious weak fit. The same resistance that helps a back sleeper stay level can leave shoulders and hips short of sink, especially for hourglass figures that need more give at the waist-to-hip transition. The warning signs sit around consistency and delivery condition rather than widespread comfort rejection: one product-specific low score describes the mattress losing its firmness after roughly a week, cutting against the Backcare promise, while a detailed middling account describes staining on arrival, and a separate low score is about persistent retailer contact rather than the mattress itself. For committed back sleepers who actively prefer a high-tension mattress, this is the right call. For side sleepers, curvier builds or anyone needing cushioned pressure relief, look at medium-firm pocket-sprung or memory-foam hybrid mattresses instead.

PostureTech Core Support spring system – deep down pressure relieving support, the springs gradually get firmer as pressure increases
Delving into the core of this specification, one may find a balance of comfort and strength, making it a remarkable addition to any bedroom. With the PostureTech Core Support spring system, the bed dynamically reacts to weight increases by eyeing an escalated firmness. This process admirably fosters deep pressure relief, thus paving the way for an undisturbed restful night. However, rest assured, this never compromises the plush feel, marrying support and luxury beautifully.

Excellent transaction. The mattress is so comfortable. We were attended to by Karen at the Team Valley branch. She was very informative & polite. We would highly recommend this product. Thank you.
The mattress is lovely to sleep on. I now sleep and have good dreams. In all, it's fantastic to have it in your home.
Have never had such a amazing restful nite sleep since I got my new mattress. Absolutely love it. And the staff where fantastic very helpful and knowledgeable
The mattress is exactly what it says it is, firm. Took some getting used to but worth every penny.

I find my bed very comfortable my granddaughters even find it even more comfortable than me money well spent
Lovely compy mattress. Nice and firm. Good quality, great value for money.
I was a bit dubious about the mattress because it was such a reasonable price (half pin the sale), but my fears were unfounded. It's honestly the most comfortable mattress I've ever had! I have spinal problems, so it's important that I take this into account - and this extra firm mattress meets all my needs. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants extra support matched with comfort.
Hi, thanks the new mattress is very good. It took a bit of time to get used to, but I'm very pleased with it. Certainly my back is much better now! C Pither
My back has been a lot better since purchasing my new mattress. Its ace.
On deciding to update our bedroom we decided to research the bed market. Despite not intending to purchase we were pleased with the relaxed and informative staff and decided to purchase bed and mattress immediately. Delivery was planned and executed as promised and the mattress has proved comfortable but on unwrapping the mattress we found staining that left us disappointed. But as we had already dispensed with old mattress we had no option but to keep but as everything else in the room was brand new was left feeling disappointed.
Absolutely brilliant!!! We didn't realise how soft and worn out the old mattresses were. It's so nice to get into bed and not sink into the mattress. Once again we are getting a great night's sleep. We would certainly recommend these mattresses to anyone who likes a firm bed. Thanks Bensons.
Arrived promptly and exactly as described so I am now getting a GREAT night's sleep.

The best bed I've ever slept on, the guy In the shop shebaz was a really lovely guy, delivered bang on when said, no issuses and a pleasure to buy from. Quality is nice
Very comfortable mattress, has helped back pain too
I appreciate those with the idea of 'softness being associated with comfortable, but I need to reassure you this is not always the case. I bought my first ever extra firm mattress when I started having problems with my lower back and I've got to say that I've always had a perfect nights sleep on a firm mattress. The Sealy Redcliffe Backcare Extra Firm Mattress is an absolute gem, it is pure luxury and most importantly ticks all the boxes for comfort and giving you perfect rest.
I absolutely love my new mattress. It's firm and supportive just like I really need it. The sales person in the store was incredibly helpful. The only problem I have is keeping my large cat to one side! Will definitely buy again. Easily the best mattress I have ever had.
Far better build quality than silent night can't fault it.
