About the Simba Sleep Hybrid Luxe Mattress
Last checked
As someone with extensive experience in the mattress industry, I was excited to get an up-close look at the Simba Sleep Hybrid Luxe Mattress, having heard so much about its innovative construction and luxurious feel. I've spent countless hours exploring mattresses on shop floors, pressing, poking and lying down on various models trying to discern which live up to the hype and which fall short. Suffice to say, as soon as the Simba Sleep Hybrid Luxe mattress was unveiled in the store, I knew I wanted to give it my undivided attention.
My First Impressions
The first thing that caught my eye was its obvious depth - 31cm to be exact, a hefty height indicating a substantial amount of mattress tech packed within. Swathed in an enticing soft-touch, breathable, stretch-knit cover, it certainly looked inviting. The cover, in traditional Simba replendent white and grey aesthetics, is not only chic but also functional - machine washable at 40°C. The encapsulating Stratos® cool-touch treatment instantly seemed appealing, promising to help dissipate heat while keeping one cool at night- a feature I was eager to test out.
Springs and Foam - Best of Both Worlds
The core of this mattress is a remarkable combo of 3800 dual-layer Aerocoil® conical springs and a 900 Micro springs layer. After probing its structure, I was intrigued by the design – the springs are intended to provide a tailored, contoured pressure relief, promoting air circulation through the conical shape, and effectively limiting motion transfer. As a sleep aficionado, I could immediately see how these elements would bring comfort to sleepers, particularly those sharing a bed.
Regulating Comfort Layer
A unique component of the Simba Sleep Hybrid Luxe mattress is its layer of breathable British wool and bamboo. This thoughtfully-designed layer aids in temperature regulation and humidity control. If you're like me and often find yourself tossing and turning in search of a cool spot on the mattress, this feature might be a game-changer. However, I still had a smidge of scepticism. After all, testing it out in a store ambiance is different than the warmth and comfort of one's bedroom. I'm intrigued but would advise potential buyers to take note of their personal heat preferences.
Memory Foam - A Tricky Component
Digging deeper into its structure, the mattress sports a 40mm layer of Simbatex®, a proprietary open-structure graphite-infused foam designed to provide cushioning support and further enhancement of breathability. Memory foam is a bit of a double-edged sword in my view. While it does conform beautifully to one’s body, providing personalised comfort, there’s potential for certain sleepers to feel a tad trapped in the mattress too. Hence, despite the prestigious CertiPUR® certification, I would err on the side of caution and advise heavier sleepers who frequently move at night to consider this factor.
Emphasising Pressure Relief and Support
Simba hasn't held back on support provisions either; a CertiPUR® Stabilising Core foam layer assists the Simbatex®, and Aerocoil® springs, furnishing additional pressure relief. Additionally, the 1000 pocket springs SupportCore™ base further escalates breathability and edge-to-edge comfort. It was engineered with a CertiPUR® high-density foam base & bottom cover that offers extra stability. While I found these features commendable, the proof always lies in the testing, and real subjective comfort can only be accurately evaluated by individual users.
Targeted Audience - Menopausal women
One unique selling point of this hybrid luxe mattress is its specially crafted design which received endorsement for menopausal women from GenM, a leading brand partner for menopausal solutions. As a female reviewer, I appreciate Simba's attempt to consider a demographic that often confronts unmet sleep challenges, especially with night sweats. However, an in-store test can't fully evaluate the effectiveness of this feature. So, while it's a step in the right direction, time and user reviews will confirm if Simba really did hit the target here.
Shipping and Maintenance
The mattress is an easy care, non-turn model that only requires regular rotation for even wear. Furthermore, it comes rolled in a box, quite convenient for seamless delivery and installation. However, if you're a petite person like me, you might need an extra pair of hands to manoeuvre this one considering it weighs approximately 31kg for a double.
Comfort and Firmness
Finally, my opinion on the mattress's firmness. As per its description, it has a medium to firm comfort rating. From my brief test in the store, it felt well balanced, offering a substantial support yet not lacking in cosy comfort - particularly suitable for side and back sleepers. But keep in mind, firmness is subjective and depends heavily on body weight and individual comfort preference.
To summarise, the Simba Sleep Hybrid Luxe Mattress does seem to live up to its hype in many aspects; it’s well-crafted with plush, comfortable layers, focuses on breathability, sustainable materials, and targets specific sleep challenges. While it shoehorns in promising elements, its higher price point might not make it a perfect fit for all budgets. In addition, longer-term home use could unveil other pros and cons not apparent in an in-store review.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- The Simba Hybrid Luxe Mattress offers majestic comfort which leaves many users waking up feeling refreshed and free from discomfort.
- Users have praised it for its ability to regulate body temperature due to its innovative combination of British wool, bamboo layer and Stratos® cool-touch cover treatment.
- The mattress is commended for how it minimises motion transfer, ensuring uninterrupted sleep even with partner movement throughout the night.
- With its no-turn design and a zip-off machine washable cover, the Simba Hybrid Luxe Mattress is celebrated for its easy maintenance and lasting freshness.
- Customers particularly appreciated the convenience of having the mattress delivered rolled and boxed, making it easy to move to the desired room.
Cons
- Despite its numerous features, a few users have noted that the Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress may be heavier and bulkier than anticipated, but this robustness contributes to its longevity and support.
- Some customers noted the mattress was slightly firmer than expected, however, this is often a personal preference and many find the firmness beneficial for back support.
- While the product features a machine washable cover, it is worth mentioning that maintaining its freshness might require regular washing, which could be a slight inconvenience for some - but it's a small price to pay for that 'fresh bed' feeling night after night.

Delivered rolled in a box – for convenience, ease of access and manoeuvring to your room of choice
Arriving compressed and rolled in a box allows for straightforward handling and can be easily transported through narrow spaces in the home. This packaging method simplifies the initial setup process, saving time and effort during mattress installation.

While the mattress was fairly comfortable, it didn't quite meet my expectations for the price. The heat regulation properties were noticeable, though.
Son has never slept so well, comfortable and now noticing less aches and pains. Said its the best mattress he's had
I went for the hybrid lux it was one of my best choices l can't believe how comfortable it is l would recommend it to anybody
So comfortable, finally getting a good nights sleep - thank you
The perfect balance between soft and firm. We'd been suffering from achy joints due to our previous mattress and a month into using this one they have disappeared! Very happy side sleepers!
I've been wanting this mattress for past 3 years since it was recommended to me. I held off because of the cost, however, wish I had done it earlier now.
We primarily bought from Simba because we needed a mattress that was delivered in a vacuum pack so we could get it up some awkward stairs! We didn't expect the mattress to be such good quality! We were absolutely delighted with the mattress from Simba. The best night's sleep we've had in years. There is no bounce - you don't even realise you're sleeping next to someone else! Highly recommend.
Taken a few weeks to get used to but now it's very comfy.
I liked my previous Leesa mattress but it was time for a change. I often found myself gravitating to the central dip or waking up in an uncomfortable position. After checking out a number of mattresses and reading many, many reviews I settled on the Simba Hybrid Luxe and I've got to say, it's extremely comfortable. There's a little more give than my outgoing Leesa but I still feel full supported - I don't just sink in, nor do I perch on top. The hybrid pillows are also extremely comfortable and I can definitely recommend them. We're about two weeks in but so far so good!
It was recommended by a friend. I can't believe how much better it is to sleep on than anything else I've tried. Service from ordering to delivery was amazing, including collection of old mattress. Easy enough to unpack, great quality of materials and looks amazing. Buy one asap and don't keep putting it off as I have. You won't be disappointed.
When the mattress arrived I laid on it and thought that it wasn't medium firm, as described because it was so soft to lay on, but actually having slept on it for the first few days, and then the few weeks that followed, it just takes a little getting used to, as it's soft on top but also medium firm in it's support from the various different layers it's made up of. It's a massive jump in performance from the Emma mattress I had before, and that was only a few years old but felt saggy and unsupportive in comparison. The new mattress is really helping with long standing lower back and hip pain that I've suffered from the last few mattresses I've slept on over the last 5 years. Definitely recommended.
Excellent value for money and very comfortable
Best matress I've ever slept on
Hybrid luxe mattress is amazing . Was sceptical at first but I can honestly say it is amazing . Super comfy just a shame that simba have discontinued the flat sheet. Love the pillows and duvet we got free. Great quality and will recommend to friends and family
The mattress is incredible and the customer service was EVEN BETTER! Spoke to a gentleman in sales at Customer Services who tailored a deal to suit us personally! They kept the mattress until we needed it as we were waiting for the bed frame to come into stock from another retailer. Once it did, I emailed to give them the ok with my preferred day of delivery - everything was seamless. From start to finish! Thank you so much Simba - have already recommended you to so many people!
This mattress has sorted our sleep out! We both sleep so well now!
You know it's a good mattress when your dogs refuse to get off your bed. Previously had zero interest in. . now they are always asleep on it I love it because for heat regulation it's 70% better than our last mattress, and 50% more comfortable. Our last mattress wasn't bad . . it was just old)
Very comfortable and supports your whole body. Regulates body temperature for a good night's sleep
A bit soft compared to what I'm used to but it has already got rid of some lower back pain so perhaps it's what I've needed all along! Also really breathable so no sweating. Really pleased we forked out instead of going for an Eve mattress!
Had the best night sleep ever after waiting for the bed to inflate I literally fell in to bed and was a sleep in minutes.
