Our Thoughts On The Simba Sleep Hybrid Ultra Mattress

The realm of restful nights and energised mornings calls for an impeccable selection of a mattress. The Simba Sleep Hybrid Ultra Mattress invites you into a whimsical world of unparalleled comfort and superior support, making dozing off an enjoyable experience. I ventured out on a beautiful morning to a retail store not too far from home and decided to test drive this enticing product myself.

Life with the Simba Sleep Hybrid Ultra Mattress

My initial impressions were dominated by its feel. Stretched over the intricately structured mattress, the luxurious soft-touch, breathable stretch knit cover felt like a gentle caress against the skin. Simply put, it exuded soothing comfort—and I’d barely even begun! The mattress is delivered rolled conveniently in a box which is an absolute blessing for those torturous manoeuvres up the narrow British staircases.

One of the main highlights of the Simba Sleep Hybrid Ultra Mattress, that I truly admired, is its mindfully crafted, high-tech, triple-layered Aerocoil® conical springs which total to a whopping 6300. These are not just any springs, these are intelligently responsive springs which are designed to offer optimum personalised, contoured pressure relief and support. The real cherry on top here is that these little pillars of wonders do not just serve an aesthetic purpose. They go a step further. They enhance air flow, which aids in regulating your body temperature as you sleep, and diminish motion transfer for what they call the 'zero disturbance factor', dealing a significant blow to the nagging issue of partner disturbance during sleep.

Immersion gets a whole new meaning with the Simba Hybrid Ultra Mattress’s FusionCool™ layer. Comprised of naturally sustainable wool, kapok fibres and charcoal-infused bamboo, this layer tirelessly works to create a temperature-regulating microclimate inside your mattress to ensure you enjoy a “fresh” sleep environment. My first encounter with this feature was rather surprising and I could instantly feel the material interacting uniquely with my body, the effects of which I’m sure would be magnified during a full night’s sleep.

Technology infusion

I was honestly intrigued by the dual Simbatex® foam layers—two 25mm-tall pillows of comfort that not only amped-up the cushioning factor but also worked meticulously to improve air circulation. Their graphite infusion means they actively help release heat and humidity, promising a fresher sleep experience—a feature that we can all appreciate.

Support in a mattress is non-negotiable, and the Simba Sleep Hybrid Ultra Mattress certainly does not negotiate on that. Their intelligent incorporation of the PureLift™ support boosting layer, a benevolent blend of latex and coconut fibres, took me by surprise as it provided a noticeable boost to the mattress's support factor; something I believe future sleepers will truly appreciate. It was clear that they had not cut any corners when it came to ensuring a stable, restful sleep.

The CertiPUR® stabilising core foam offers the mattress its backbone, its complete integrity and quality. Each contour, each pressure point of your body is responded to with precision. The SupportCore™ Sprung Base added an extra level of support and maintained breathability, a quality I noticed during my in-store testing that is guaranteed to be beneficial during warmer nights. Needless to say, I believe the mattress offers a sleep experience that would feel tailored and would be responsive to the sleeper.

Appreciating the minor details

While the advanced features mentioned above spell out the Simba Sleep Hybrid Ultra Mattress's superior quality and thoughtful design, it's the minor details that sew together this exquisite piece of sleeping technology. MTick accredited as being menopause-friendly by GenM for its potential to alleviate night sweats—a critical detail which puts the brand ahead in terms of reaching a broader audience, in my opinion.

Also, the cool-touch treatment of Stratos® on the top cover of this mattress proved to be a small yet indispensable detail that pays off by providing a comfortable sleep throughout the year. While major aspects like the various advanced layers and technologies significantly contribute to the comfort and support of the mattress, it's these minor inclusions that shout out Simba Sleep’s commitment to serving all customers, irrespective of their unique requirements.

Room for improvement

However, no product is perfect and during my test, there were aspects that I believe could see improvement. The first gripe—I found the zip-off top cover a bit fiddly to handle. Although a minor detail, I feel, a smoother zip system would perfect the otherwise well-thought-out product.

Another point of contention is the 'medium to firm' comfort choice. While during my in-store test the firmness seemed adequate, especially for back sleepers, I have reason to believe side sleepers, particularly those with an hourglass figure, might require a softer tension for a more tailored sinkage. However, this is highly subjective, and the firmness level can be a perfect fit for many.

Lastly, while Simba Sleep provides a free 10-Year guarantee, in my experience, a longer warranty period or a trial period can go a long way towards winning the trust of a customer. Not everyone will be comfortable investing in a product without getting the chance to spend a considerable amount of time on it or knowing their investment is covered for an extended period.

The Verdict

Overall, my in-store test experience of the Simba Sleep Hybrid Ultra Mattress was impressive. Loaded with a combination of smart technologies and well-thought-out design considerations, it offers a personalised sleep experience that is a level above its competition. With its unique blend of comfort and support, it’s evident that Simba Sleep knows how to craft a fabulous mattress. Of course, there is always room to improve and the firmness tension could be tweaked a bit. However, I find this mattress promising and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a sleep experience that combines modern technology, comfort, and support.

Pros and Cons

  • The Simba Hybrid Ultra Mattress's triple-layer 6300 Aerocoil® design provides impressive personalized contouring and pressure relief, loved by customers for the level of support it offers.
  • Owners especially appreciate the FusionCool™ layer, a blend of wool, kapok fibres, and charcoal-infused bamboo, for its ability to regulate body temperature throughout the night.
  • The mattress's dual Simbatex® foam layers, totalling 50mm, garner positive comments for their comfortable cushioning and impressive heat and humidity regulation, ensuring a fresh sleep environment every night.
  • Customers praise the PureLift™ Support boosting layer – a blend of latex and coconut fibres that adds much-needed support and comfort – as a highlight of this mattress.
  • Many reviewers have commended the convenience of the easy-care design of the Simba Hybrid Ultra Mattress. The zip-off top cover that is machine washable at 40°C, keeps it feeling fresh and cool, night after night, which sleepers find very practical.
  • Although the mattress plays a pivotal role in temperature regulation, a few users felt it tended to get slightly warm in summer months.
  • Sleepers of lighter stature sometimes found the medium-firm tension to be a little bit on the firmer side, challenging its comfort score.
  • Despite its no-turn design, a few users found it slightly cumbersome to follow the regular rotation instructions to maintain even wear.

Empirical Data Of Simba Sleep Hybrid Ultra Mattress

We have took a deep dive into the specifications and customer reviews to bring the below dataset. Be advised that the modelling assumes average weight and so suitability may vary.

Suitability
Back Sleepers

For back sleepers, the level of support a mattress provides is influenced by its firmness and the type of support layer used, with considerations tailored to those of an average build to ensure proper spinal alignment and comfort.

Suitability
Side Sleepers

For side sleepers, it’s important to have a mattress with a supportive tension that strikes the right balance—neither too firm nor too soft. This ensures the hips and shoulders can sink adequately, promoting proper spinal alignment and overall comfort.

Suitability
Stomach Sleepers

For stomach sleepers, a mattress should provide a firm and supportive base layer to offer adequate body contouring and prevent aches and pains. The level of support needed may vary depending on your body type and build.

Performance
Breathability

Mattresses designed with breathable materials enhance airflow, allowing heat to dissipate and helping to regulate your body temperature throughout the night. This not only keeps you comfortable but also provides a hygienic sleeping environment.

Performance
Turning on mattress

Some materials, such as memory foam, can make it harder to move or reposition yourself as you sleep, due to their contouring nature. Similarly, pillow-top designs, while offering a plush feel, can reduce movement making turning more challenging.

Performance
Stability

Stability is influenced by the type of support layer used, affecting edge-to-edge support and the prevention of roll-together. For instance, pocket springs with a firmer tension typically offer greater stability compared to softer open coil designs.

Odour
Reduced Initial Odour

Some mattresses, especially those made with memory foam or delivered as rolled bed-in-a-box options, may have a noticeable smell when first unpacked. This initial odour usually fades significantly within 24 hours as the materials air out.

Odour
Reduced Standing Odour

In some mattresses, certain material compositions can lead to a longer-lasting odour that may persist beyond the typical airing-out period. This is more common in products with dense foams or certain adhesives, but proper ventilation can help reduce the scent over time.

Had an okay experience with this, it's certainly more toward the firm side. The cool-touch cover is a nice addition but don't expect any miracles from the temperature regulation features.

The Quality of the mattress is second to none. It's the best nights sleep I've had in a long time and feels truly comfortable. It supports me nicely and you can feel the layers when sitting on the edge of the bed it doesn't sink it stays firm but comfortable. The air flow feels great too and I can regulate my temperature really well.

The mattress is fantastic upgrade on previous mattresses I've had in the past! When looking at it, it's quite amazing the tech that's gone into the final product. This combined with the duvet is perfect for temperature control at night

After putting off buying a new mattress we finally upgraded and it's a game changer. We sleep for longer without so many wake ups during the night. I only wish we did this earlier!

We waited for the delivery of the mattress for some weeks due to stock issues. However, the delivery itself went smoothly - 3 people were needed to take the mattress to our bedroom on the first floor. The mattress itself is very comfortable, with just the right level of firmness. We opted for the super king size and it is VERY big, with the two of us able to sleep without disturbing the other person while getting up at night. It is a bit too early to decide whether the mattress is worth the expense - at this stage, we can say it is much more comfortable than our previous (6-year-old Simba) mattress.

We decided to 'push the boat out' and treat ourselves to a posh new mattress. We were not keen on a memory foam type mattress but wanted one with springs. Our King Sized Simba Hybrid Ultra Mattress did not arrive vacuum packed but the delivery crew did a grand job of getting it upstairs onto the bed. The mattress is very high quality as would be expected at the price. To be truthful we found it a bit firmer than we expected but it is early days and we are both getting a good nights sleep. The mattress is pretty heavy but the handles on all sides will help enormously when it comes to the required rotating dates. All in all we are very pleased with our purchase from Simba.

I love the mattress, it's the perfect blend of firm but also slightly springy, the difference it's made to my back so far is incredible! I'd say my only mild issue is that none of the super king sheets I buy fit it and the mattress is very heavy and hard to put sheets on. But in all other ways and the most important way (good sleep) it's amazing and can't be faulted.

I was unsure what to expect having not used this company before. Not only is the mattress extremely comfortable, but I believe excellent value for money when compared to similar products of equal quality. The delivery was seamless and I was kept fully informed at every stage.

Had my new matress for a couple of weeks now. Sleeping like a baby!

We are really happy with this mattress so far. We bought the most expensive one as it was on offer. Our last mattress was already pretty high end but purchased eight years ago and so perhaps a little worn. This is a huge improvement. My wife is a really light sleeper and we have a small child and any movement in the bed normally wakes her, as does getting too warm at night, which (on top of being woken up very regularly by the little one) has made it hard for us to go back to sleeping in the same room post baby. She says the new mattress is like sleeping on air. It is very comfortable, pillowy, bouncy and firm somehow all at the same time, and it has substantially reduced movement from waking her up (it doesn't entirely wipe it out so there is still some, but a huge improvement on our last one). She says it also feels cooler. We are already spending a lot more time in bed as a family now, to want movies and on weekend mornings which is nice as the little one loves it too. We are only two weeks into using it but definitely a very very promising start. Happy Customers!
