About the Staples and Co Belgravia Floorstanding Headboard

Last checked

The floorstanding build is the main confirmed construction detail on the Staples & Co Belgravia, and it changes how the headboard behaves in the room. Instead of relying on slim struts rising from a divan, a board that stands from floor level gives the head end a more fitted, furniture-like presence. Its style is doing much of the selling. Praise repeatedly lands on the look, colour and overall bed presentation, while feedback around fabric wear, material splitting and staples places this firmly in upholstered-headboard territory rather than plain timber. Within headboard accessory ranges, floorstanding is a more substantial construction class than a lightweight strutted divan headboard; not because it guarantees thicker padding or better cloth, but because the visual weight runs to the floor and the bed reads as a complete set. The conservative part is the build signal: “floorstanding” says a lot about fitting and room presence, but much less about upholstery resilience, so the positive appearance comments should not be stretched into a claim about long-term fabric quality.

An upholstered floorstanding board like this is best matched to a divan or compatible bed base with proper headboard fixing points, especially in a room where the bed is meant to look dressed rather than minimal. Praise clusters around the decorative effect: buyers like the colour, the style and the way the headboard and base present together, which is exactly the kind of outcome a floorstanding upholstered design is meant to deliver. Finish quality is the risk here. Negative feedback concentrates on manufacture and durability rather than taste alone, with lumps in the upholstery, a broken board, early bobbling along the top and loose staples all appearing in the poorer experiences; the Belgravia name suggests a polished decorative piece, but those faults pull it back toward a more ordinary upholstered build. Fabric care also matters, because a cloth headboard above pillows and hair products will need gentler cleaning than wood or faux leather, and bobbling after only a few months is a meaningful warning sign. For someone matching a Staples & Co divan who wants a full-height upholstered focal point, the Belgravia fits; for a household needing hard-wearing fabric, child-safe detailing or a board for daily lounging, a better-specified upholstered range or a solid wood or wall-mounted construction gives firmer durability cues.

Specifications

Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.

10 Year Guarantee – For total peace of mind

Fault cover gives you somewhere to turn if fixings loosen or upholstery faults appear during normal use, reducing the chance of paying for eligible repairs yourself. Read the terms, because accidental damage and wear may be excluded.

Luxuriously Padded Upholstery – Stylish and comfortable

Fabric-covered padding gives your shoulders a softer surface to lean against. Fabric needs regular vacuuming and may show marks faster than wood or metal, while deep cushioning can make the headboard feel bulkier.

Buttoned or unbuttoned – Choose from classic button detailing or a clean minimal finish

Buttons pull the fabric into small dimples, adding texture behind your pillows. Plain upholstery is easier to pair with busy rooms, though button recesses can catch crumbs and take more care to keep tidy.

Staples & Co. Premium Headboard – The perfect complement to our Staples & Co ranges of divan bases

Matching upholstery gives the bed end a coordinated back panel, giving pillows a firmer stop and making sitting up less bare against the wall. Check the base fittings first, since bolt positions can vary.

Quality assured – Hand-crafted quality, made in the UK

Factory checks should catch loose fabric and uneven seams before dispatch, leaving the headboard looking tidier where it sits above the pillows. They won't guarantee identical stitching on every piece.

Arched, winged design - A statement piece for any bedroom with feature wing design

Curved side returns frame the pillows and draw the eye upward, because the headboard projects beyond a flat rectangle and leaves the bed looking taller. Those side returns can crowd a narrow alcove.

Floor Standing Design – For optimum stability and style, the mark of a premium headboard

Full-height panels meet the room surface, making the headboard feel steadier. They need clear skirting and enough wall space behind the bed, because the extra height can be awkward in tight rooms.

Strong, Sturdy Timber Frame Sourced from responsibly managed forests

Wood rails give the headboard a firm backbone, helping it sit flatter behind pillows and feel less wobbly when you lean back to read. Forest origin says little about the finish or joint design.

Hand upholstered in a wide range of Premium Upholstery Fabrics–A choice of textures and styles from velvet look, warm faux leather, linen look and more

Fabric over the padded face softens the wall-side panel, letting you match a room scheme through texture as well as colour. Paler fabrics may mark sooner, while faux leather can crease.

Wide choice of colours– Choose from different neutral tones or something brighter or a pop of colour

Fabric shade changes how large the bed looks against your wall, with calmer tones receding and stronger shades drawing the eye. Bold shades can date faster than quieter fabric.

Hotel or floor standing height options – To suit your personal taste

Higher headboards create a bigger backdrop above the pillows, making the bed look more prominent against the wall. Large panels can crowd low ceilings or narrow walkways.

Paid a lot of money for this bed as it was just what we needed with the storage & easy lift for me to access the ottoman storage. It's very difficult to pull the bed down but I was told once the mechanism is used it will get easier!! It hasn't, I literally have to stand on the lower part of the bed & with my whole wait have to push the top down. I will be in touch with the showroom once open again

Product is excellent. Shame our headboard has been lost in transit and having to wait another 6 weeks for it. That's even if we do get the headboard. Not a happy customer and the transit people are incompetent!
