About the Next Day Delivery - Silentnight Newbury 1000 Pocket Eco Pillow Top Mattress
Last checked
A 1000-pocket Mirapocket core, recycled Eco Comfort Fibres and a quilted pillow top put the Silentnight Newbury in the mainstream pocket-sprung camp rather than the foam-hybrid one. That is honest, not lavish, engineering. A 1000-count pocket unit gives more independent response than an open-coil mattress, especially where two sleepers place different loads on the bed, but it remains a conservative spring count for a pillow-top model using language around luxury and edge-to-edge support. The zoned Mirapocket layout is the more meaningful support claim, because zoning changes how the spring bed resists pressure through heavier and lighter parts of the body rather than simply relying on one flat tension across the whole surface. It is sold as a firm mattress, with the thick quilted pillow top there to soften the first contact rather than turn the bed into a deep-sinking plush model. The fibre choice is the more unusual part of the specification: Eco Comfort Fibres made from recyclable plastic bottles are a sustainability and breathability play, not a premium natural-fill layer like wool, cotton or latex in higher-priced pocket-sprung builds. In practical terms, the Newbury reads as a firm, fibre-topped pocket mattress with a cushioned surface, rather than a pressure-hugging memory-foam hybrid or a traditional hand-tufted mattress with dense natural upholstery.
The firm pocket-sprung build points most clearly towards back sleepers, front sleepers and people who dislike the hammock feel of softer foam beds, while the pillow top gives enough surface padding for some side sleepers who still want a supported feel. The strongest praise centres on comfort. Positive reviews repeatedly describe improved sleep, better support than an old mattress and a sense that the mattress feels substantial for the money, which matches the spec’s combination of pocket springs and a padded top rather than a bare-bones open-coil build. The fibre upholstery should also suit sleepers who run warm more than an all-foam mattress would, although the thick pillow top will still feel more enveloping than a flatter firm mattress. The edge and durability picture is where the specification and lived experience separate: the product description promises even weight distribution and edge-to-edge support, yet lower-rated reviews repeatedly describe early dipping, a softer-than-expected feel and springs being felt around the sides or under movement. Several also connect that sagging with new or returning back pain, so heavier sleepers, couples with a notable weight difference, and anyone relying on a genuinely firm surface for spinal support have reason to be cautious. One longer account also flags the depth as making the bed sit high on its base, a practical point for shorter or less steady sleepers. For back sleepers wanting firm support with a cushioned, cooler-feeling top, this is the right call. For stronger edges, better dip resistance and a firmer long-term feel, look at a denser £700+ pocket-sprung hybrid instead.

Zzzzzzzzzzz.... sorry fast asleep on one of the most comfortable mattresses i've ever owned
Worth every penny! Very comfy and love the extra memory foam layer on top! Firm and great support for people who need it! Very professional delivery service too. 100% recommend
well worth the money, good quality, lovely nights sleep with this product
Weve had this mattress for just over a month now and find it perfect for us especially as I have a back problem, the firmness is just right .
We've had this mattress for a few months now. By far the best one I've ever had. It's firm and supportive and my back problems have vanished. Feels like a hotel mattress. Highly recommend it.
We've had this mattress around two weeks now, and it's made such a difference to my sleep! Before I had a memory foam but found it too hot and soft, the firmness in this mattress works wonders on my back too!
We've had the mattress for just over a month now and we're so happy. Sleeping much better and no more sore backs in the morning.
We wobbled between this or more expensive mattresses. With the 100 sleep guarantee we opted for this on the basis we could upgrade without incurring any material abortive cost. Ultimately, we have no desire to upgrade. Excellent mattress without the high price tag.
We tried out lots of far more expensive mattresses before settling on this one from Dreams. We knew we wanted a pillow top and at first werent sure about plumping for man-made fibres, but nearly a month on we are so glad we stuck to our lower budget and bought this mattress. It holds its shape well and is super comfy. I cant feel it when my husband gets out of bed! It is slightly firmer than I expected though, so if youre looking for something very soft this isnt for you.
We purchased this 3 weeks ago to replace our previous one. Myself and my partner have both noticed a decrease in aches and pains when waking up and also much more consistent sleep.
We only received it on 7/8/20 and have had 2 weeks to sleep on it, but so far it feels good. It is firm and it caused me few days of neck/headache but I believe that i will change.
We needed a Super King mattress for our new bed and this one seemed to fit the bill. It really really does. We've both slept extremely well since we got it. Can't ask for more that that.
We have never had a pillow top mattress before and the difference is lovely, the 'no turn' is also very good as we are older now and would find it difficult to flip it over. Would have liked handles though like our previous one had.
We have had this mattress for 3 weeks and it is sooooo comfie! My back ache has much improved and I am looking forward to bedtime every night !
We have had this mattress for 3 weeks and it has been comfortable so far. The only downside is that there are no handles on it which made it extremely difficult to manoeuvre the mattress up a tight staircase to the master bedroom and makes rotating the mattress very hard work. Why on earth has the manufacturer not thought to add handles to it Surely it cannot be a cost-cutting measure. Mattresses we have had in the past of a far inferior quality all had handles on them which made life much easier. If it was not for this fact, we would have given the mattress an overall rating of 4.
We have had this for a month now and am used to it. It gives you support and is sturdy and well made. It does make us hot though which could be to do with the pillow top. It isn't as soft and comfy a pillow top as we were expecting but am glad it is there otherwise it would be top hard. The king size version is very heavy making to difficult when it comes to turning it, especially as it is meant to be turned weekly for a while. It does feel very different to our old mattress but that was about 10 years old! Brought from Dreams website and their service is excellent.
We have 2 of these mattress's now, one super king an 1 king. Love them
We got this mattress from reading other reviews online. Our old mattress needed replacing and I'm so glad we found this one. It's firm but very comfortable, nice and high, and let's me have a great nights sleep.
We debated for ages whether to spend more on a mattress that to be honest would have to last a while. But weve had good experience of Silentnight so that gave a promising start. No regrets at all. The mattress is perfect - firm, quiet and no movement when the other person moves. Highly recommend.
We changed from a well known memory foam mattress, which was not as good as advertised. So far it is a lot more comfortable and we are getting a very good nights sleep.
