About the Eleanor Sofa Bed
Last checked
For spare-room seating that occasionally has to become a guest bed, the Bensons for Beds Eleanor Sofa Bed sits in the simple click-clack sofa-bed class rather than the heavier pull-out frame category. Assembly asks for limited DIY. The recurring description is of a near-finished unit that needs legs attaching and arms slotting into place, with one-person assembly described as quick by more than one buyer. A click-clack mechanism is a sensible choice for this value sofa-bed tier: it keeps conversion fast and the frame uncomplicated, but it is a more basic construction than a pull-out metal action with a separate sleeping platform. That simplicity is also where expectations need managing, because one detailed complaint centred on the sofa arriving as flat-pack despite being sold as though it would need no meaningful assembly, and the person setting it up found the lifting awkward. Style is the stronger part of the composition, with modern looks and removable side cushions coming through repeatedly, while the build impression is split between sturdy-enough day-to-day use and a few concerns around small components under the legs.
The click-clack action is the feature that makes the Eleanor work in real rooms, especially where a home office, spare room or occasional guest space needs to switch roles without storing a separate folding bed. It is a sociable, firm-feeling seat. Praise clusters around the clean modern look, fast conversion and the fact that it can serve as both sofa and emergency bed without complicated rearranging; the same firmness, though, is also the repeated comfort warning, with several people finding it better for entertaining than long lounging, and one adding a topper before the bed felt acceptable. Quality concerns are narrower but sharper: low-rated feedback mentions cushions not plumping fully, plastic beneath the legs coming away and scratching flooring, and a seat section feeling damaged within months, so the smart appearance is not matched by universal confidence in durability. The Eleanor lands well for a guest room that needs a tidy, firm sofa most of the time and a simple occasional bed some nights; a main living-room sofa for daily lounging, or a frequent adult sleeper, deserves a thicker pull-out sofa-bed class or a higher sofa-bed tier with a more substantial sleep deck.

Really modern looking sofa. Quite hard but with mattress topper it is fine.
Firm which is what we were looking for. Suited for entertaining rather than lounging. Easy to make. Took one person less than 20mins.
Hight for bed be great also had two days on it but first try get used to it second was nice
Intruth not very comfortable and for 2 people too small but looks nice
We are very pleased with our recent purchase from Benson. The sofa bed is perfect for guests, well made and very sturdy. The salesman in the shop at Birstall was very helpful and even happy with the discount. And delivery was on time as arranged. And also carried indoors for us. Would certainly recommend them.
Looks the part. The cushions never fully plumped up and it's pretty uncomfortable
Easy to put up and take down, quite sturdy and a good price
The bed settee is absolutely fabulous and fits in the room well. The delivery men were friendly and helpful, very professional. Extremely happy with my product Thank you
I am really pleased with the Eleanor Sofa bed, especially as it was relatively inexpensive in a recent sale. PROS. The final assembly took only a few minutes. I especially like that the side cushions can be removed if needed. The click-clack mechanism means it changes to a bed in seconds. CONS. A bit firm for some as a bed, but comfortable enough as a sofa, hence 4 stars
Excellent staff and delivery would definitely buy from you again 5 star
Easy to assembly. Comfort. Price is good with good value.
Incredible value for the price and easy to switch between modes. However I have noticed the seat cushions begin to lose their shape quite quickly. But other than that, would very much recommend.
Great value for money. The Elanor Sofa Bed is well designed, excellent quality and very comfortable.
Easy to put together, very nice looking, sufficient comfort to use as a temporary sofa bed. Represents good value for money.
I do love the sofa! It's comfortable and sturdy! Extremely fit for purposed! Haven't really tried it as a bed so can't comment on that! However, I was extremely dissatisfied with the rep in the showroom who sold me the sofa bed at Bensons for Beds! He assured me that the item would arrive as a sofa bed and not a flat pack and I would not have to assemble it but surprise! Surprise! It arrived as a flat pack! I don't have trouble following instructions but I am not strong enough to set it up! I didn't know how but I somehow managed it in the end all on my own! Still fuming though as the rep was unprofessional!
Really comfortable as both a sofa and a bed. So easy to convert into a bad and back again with minimal effort. Comes almost complete, just need to put the legs on and slot in the arms. Simple and easy. Would recommend
Good idea but bad quality. In just few months, the plastic beneath the legs was lost, made my floor seriously scratched. The left most seat seems broken too in just few months…
A wonderful purchase, it was very easy to fold according to the instructions and looks stylish in the room.I bought it in a shop in Oxford, the consultant Chnstelle helped me with the purchase
Well built modern attractive fabric on sofa bed. Delivered unpacked to room of choice with guarantee. Every home would benefit from one. Extremely happy with this purchase.
