About the Northwood Wooden Bed Frame
Last checked
As a child’s room or spare-room frame, the Northwood keeps the job simple: a painted solid-pine bed base with grooved panel detailing rather than storage, height tricks or bunk-bed hardware. The design is deliberately uncomplicated. Solid pine in a white or grey painted finish is fair for the price class: more reassuring than foil-wrapped chipboard in cheaper flat-pack beds, but still a softwood frame, so it should not be read as the same proposition as heavier hardwood or premium upholstered frames. Because this is a standard bed frame rather than a bunk, cabin or midi bed, its child suitability comes from familiar low-level access and a conventional sleeping platform, not from guard rails, stairs, desk space or raised-bed safety engineering. There is no top-sleeper issue here. The grooved headboard and footboard give it a more finished look than a plain rail frame, which helps explain why it is being used in daughters’ bedrooms and spare rooms rather than only as a stopgap children’s base. It is not a drawer bed, although longer feedback mentions enough space underneath for storage boxes, so the storage value is incidental rather than designed in.
The solid-pine construction and painted panel style are the main reasons this works for families wanting a tidy, traditional bed that can sit in a child’s room without looking babyish. Assembly is a major part of its appeal. Praise repeatedly centres on clear instructions, pre-drilled parts when supplied correctly, a smart finished appearance, and a frame that feels sturdy once built; the slatted base also gets favourable comments, especially where the slats arrive linked together and supported by adjustable centre legs. The manufacturer’s neat, well-made framing is broadly matched by the happier experiences, but quality control is where the claim weakens: a recurring complaint is assembly being stopped by missing parts or holes that have not been drilled, and one low-scoring experience describes a side rail failing after around a year. That durability failure is not the dominant pattern, but it is a relevant warning in a children’s bed category, where jumping, climbing and rough use are common. The Northwood lands well for an older child, guest room or compact small-double setup where looks, straightforward assembly and value carry more weight than integrated storage or heavy-duty engineering; for toddlers needing containment, or households expecting a bed to take sustained rough treatment, a guard-railed junior bed or a more robust mid-range wooden frame is the better route.

Solid wooden slatted base - offers firm mattress support
A solid wooden slatted base provides excellent stability, ensuring durability and support for the mattress over time. This feature enhances the longevity of the mattress by promoting better air circulation, which prevents moisture buildup and supports a comfortable night's sleep.
Painted wooden finish - classic wood grain enhanced with colour
Painted wood keeps the natural grain visible while adding a coloured look, which suits bedrooms that want warmth without a plain timber finish. Fine, expect paint to show chips and scratches sooner than an untreated surface, so it may need touch-ups if knocked.
Minimalist modern design - for a serene, clutter-free sleep sanctuary
A minimalist modern design creates a calming and organised sleeping environment that promotes relaxation. It helps eliminate unnecessary distractions, offering peace and tranquility in the bedroom.
Hassle-free maintenance - effortless cleaning for no-fuss refreshes

For those in the market for a reliable, attractive, and reasonably priced wooden bed frame, the Dreams Northwood is a compelling option. Its solid wood construction and classic design make it a worthwhile investment for a comfortable and stylish bedroom. If storage is a key requirement, you would need to look at alternative bed frames or consider separate under-bed storage solutions, as this particular model prioritises simplicity and strength over integrated compartments.
Beautiful bed, a bit pricey but worthwhile as it is good quality and very sturdy
The beds we ordered arrived on time in a kit form. We found it simple to build the beds and are delighted with how they look. They are solid and we would purchase again

We love it bed frame. Son have a very comfo sleeping.I high recommended this frame.Very easy and quick assembling.
Very good quality bed, it was very easy to put together and instructions were very good and clear. The slats to support the mattress are a nice thickness and well designed being strung together like a rope bridge which made it easy to spread them out. I found it easy to assemble on my own and liked the fact it feels so sturdy, it also comes with two support legs under the bed which are adjustable. The bed looks lovely and there is enough clearance under it to put my storage boxes, i managed to a black friday deal on the price so i was very pleased. The delivery was on time and i was called 10 mins prior to its arrival by the driver, service was excellent

Easy to build. Good sturdy bed. Great value for money
Very solid base, elegant lines. The white frame goes well in my grey & pink room. Just what I wanted
Got a small double. Fits perfectly in the space, and the grey fits with my decor. Easy enough to put together, although the instructions implied a centre leg which the small double didn't have. I used the Dreams chat feature to quickly confirm this - that also worked well. Pleased all round.
Very satisfied with this bed. Fantastic customer service all round. Very good quality and helpful staff and polite delivery guys.
I am really pleased with my small double Northwood Wooden Bed Frame, as it happens so far also happy with the mattress purchased from Dreams. The bed fits perfectly in a small spare bedroom, it looks good, fits the decor of the bedroom and was fairly easy to assemble but definitely needs two people unless you are a super self assembler. The only thing I would caution is that the bed is a little more off white/light cream than white but still happy as this works for me in that room.
Sturdy bed, easy to put together. Timeless style to suit any decor.
