About the Northwood Kids Wooden Bunk Bed
Last checked
Where siblings share a room now but may need separate beds later, the Northwood’s main selling point is structural flexibility rather than storage volume. It is a painted wooden bunk in a matte white, panelled style, with the ladder able to sit at either end and the frame able to divide into two single beds. The conversion feature is the useful bit. Against fixed metal bunks, that split-frame design is a generous practical detail because it extends the usable life of the purchase beyond the early sharing years, although the manufacturer’s solid-wood description needs reading with care: owner feedback points to particle-board elements in the bed bases or add-on storage, so this is better understood as a wooden bunk with board components rather than an all-timber build throughout. The optional underbed drawer or sleepover trundle gives a choice between storage and an extra guest bed, but it is an add-on rather than an integrated ottoman-style storage system. For a children’s bunk, the age guidance of 6+ is standard and sensible, and the reversible ladder helps with awkward room layouts where a fixed ladder would block a wardrobe, radiator or doorway.
In a shared children’s bedroom, the Northwood suits families wanting a classic white bunk that can later become two singles, and the strongest repeated praise is for sturdiness: the frame is widely described as solid once built, with children taking to the design quickly. The practical positives match the spec. A separable bunk and movable ladder give more future-proofing than a basic one-piece bunk frame, and the single-bed conversion makes it more useful for siblings who may not always want to sleep stacked. Storage is the more divisive element. A recurring complaint is that the drawer feels poorer than the main frame, with awkward movement on carpet and a finish that can look different from the product imagery; another frustration is assembly, especially heavy parts, unlabelled pieces and alignment issues, so the finished bed may feel stronger than the build experience suggests. The bottom bunk’s head-end arrangement also drew criticism from a substantive low-rating review because pillows were harder to keep in place. The Northwood suits families prioritising a sturdy-looking children’s bunk with later single-bed use; those prioritising flawless finish, easy self-assembly or premium integrated storage should look instead at a higher-tier solid-wood bunk or a bunk with built-in drawer engineering.

Solid wooden slatted base - offers firm mattress support
A solid wooden slatted base provides excellent stability, ensuring durability and support for the mattress over time. This feature enhances the longevity of the mattress by promoting better air circulation, which prevents moisture buildup and supports a comfortable night's sleep.
Painted wooden finish - classic wood grain enhanced with colour
Painted wood keeps the natural grain visible while adding a coloured look, which suits bedrooms that want warmth without a plain timber finish. Fine, expect paint to show chips and scratches sooner than an untreated surface, so it may need touch-ups if knocked.
Space saving bunk bed - perfect for shared rooms and sleepovers
Hassle-free maintenance - effortless cleaning for no-fuss refreshes

Fantastic and solid build. Perfect for growing kids and easy assembly.
Fantastic sturdy bed, delivered and assembled with no problems boy loves it very happy, thank you 100% recommend.
Great bunk beds, both my sons love it, ideal storage shelfs & lovely colour, very neutral. Couldnt believe it was delivered & assembled within an hour, great service. My partner was so pleased that he didnt need to assembly it. Came within the expected timeframe so my boys were so excited. Only issue was the drawer which we paid extra for was smaller than expected for the price & there is no handles on top of the ladder
I bought this bed after looking all over for a few months. The reviews were good which helped me make up my mind. When it came there was a small crack in the draw which I was a bit disappointed about. However, after a few phone calls and emails they have agreed to fix the part of the draw. Overall though I am happy with the service from dreams.
Bought this last week, bought as ex display, easy to dismantle and put back together, excellent value for price paid, my boy is very happy and the extra storage is very handy
Bought this a month ago and quiet impressed with the quality and the service. Excellent overall experience.
I bought this bed for my daughters bedroom (9&6 year old... Asking for problems) but they have a new bed, new storage for their own bits and pieces. Plenty of space for themselves. Bed was easy to assemble with my wife and I, took a couple of hours but delighted with the results!
Good quality bed.. I love it. Assembley included in price and the guys did a fab job. Would definitely recommend
Let's start with the sales experience. Sales person in store said Erin Bunk bed with drawer will be delivered and assembled on the day you choose. So purchased it online but received email saying it WILL NOT be assembled due to COVID policy. I needed the bunk bed as the youngest one outgrew her toddler bed so proceeded........ Assembly experience. -The Erin bunk bed is delivered into 6 packages, the parts are not labelled which took time to work out how to assemble it. -Some parts are very heavy, need at least 2 people to lift up the stairs and assemble. -There are quality control issues as some of the screw holes are not aligned, wasted time drilling new holes. -The drawer is not worth getting, the build quality is poor and again quality control issues. -However 8 hours+ of assembling the bunk bed, it is rock solid and the kids like the design. Erin bunk bed is solid and well designed however I wouldn't recommend it if Dreams doesn't assemble it. Also the drawer is not good value.
Great sturdy bunk. Due to covid i almost didnt get the assembly service which was provided with this bed free of charge. I opted not to have my bed delivered unless they were ready to assemble it and it worked in my favour so happy days. I will say the colour of the wood effect panels on the drawer and shelves is completely different in real life. In reality it is a grey wash and not the brown seen on the images. But that being said the colour isnt unpleasant. I will also like to mention that the bottom bunk lacks a headboard which can be problematic for some. I found it made it difficult to contain my daughters pillow in the bed when she would be sleeping. Another issue i have found is the drawer is difficult to pull out on carpeted flooring and can be a bit of a struggle. All in all i am pleased with the bunk. It is sturdy and strong and fit for purpose. Would recommend.
it really is the same as in the picture and a very nice bed
The bed is great I just wouldn't ever buy from Dreams again as everything about this order they managed to mess up
Very good quality its solid and sturdy and looks fantastic
This bunkbed is brilliant. The size, she shelves, the colour, everything. And the man that assembled them was a wizard and spot on. My daughters love their new bed. Highly recommend
Bunk beds are fabulous and look really lovely in the room HOWEVER! Would really recommend the added assembly… an option we did not choose and instantly regretted. Lots of steps and lots of parts but once up, look really great!
Excellent bed, very sturdy and the delivery guys were great. So glad we paid extra to have the bed built! Only comment would be the top of the steps is a straight edge rather than curved - one of the corners was a bit sharp so we had to sand down. The images on your website need to be updated to reflect this. Otherwise, delighted with this bed!
Beautiful bunk bed.worth the wait for sure..delivery men very professional and polite had it up very quickly.. very happy with my purchase :) thank you x
Beautiful bunk bed.worth the wait for sure..delivery men were very professional and polite so glad I payed the extra to have it out together.very happy with my purchase
The bunk is strong and sturdy with a classic look. This is a great bed for siblings sharing with the added benefit of being able to split into two single when ready.
A proper solid wooden bed, that can be split to make two singles. Really happy with the quality and finish of this product. Worth every penny.
