About the Lodge Platform Ottoman Bed Frame
Last checked
Buyers looking for a storage bed that does not dominate the room are the obvious audience for the Lodge Platform Ottoman Bed Frame, because its low-rise platform profile keeps the visual weight down while the foot-end lift hides a 25cm-deep compartment under the base. The look is deliberately low and calm. Dreams positions it around Japandi styling, with a choice of deep walnut or light oak veneer finish and an integrated headboard; veneer is the key word, because this is a timber-effect finish rather than a solid-wood construction claim, which puts it closer to mainstream flat-pack ottoman frames than to solid oak bedsteads. The 25cm internal depth is useful for spare bedding, pillows and storage boxes, but it is not the tall, suitcase-swallowing cavity found on some deeper upholstered ottomans, and the platform base sitting close to the floor gives a neater outline at the expense of high-clearance access underneath. Sprung slats are the better detail here: compared with solid-board budget bases, they add a little give and airflow under the mattress, and several build comments link the finished frame with a steadier, quieter feel than expected. Assembly arrives as a multi-box job, and the customer detail about two people being needed for the headboard is credible for this style rather than a minor inconvenience.
Storage is the reason this frame earns its keep in small and medium bedrooms, especially where drawers would be blocked by bedside tables or tight walls; the foot-end ottoman gives broad access from one side of the room and the 25cm depth has been repeatedly described as enough for spare bedding, pillows and multiple boxes. Praise clusters around easy access, a sturdy assembled feel and a clean modern appearance, with several customers saying the sprung slats improved the feel of an existing mattress rather than making the bed creak or rattle. The colour and finish are the risk. Warm oak/orange tones and walnut arriving closer to teak or antique gold appear more than once, and the harsher complaints focus on veneer variation, poor-looking headboard panels, damaged corners and parts that did not align properly; where the product photography suggests a richer, more consistent timber look, lived-in feedback is more mixed. Assembly sentiment splits: some find it straightforward, while longer detail suggests the boxed components and headboard fixing are a two-person job, and one design niggle around the metal prop pole scratching inside the frame is worth treating as a possible annoyance rather than a widespread fault. This lands well for someone wanting a low, tidy Japandi-style ottoman with easy bedding storage and a mattress that can benefit from sprung slats; for exact colour matching, solid timber feel or premium joinery, a solid-wood bedstead or higher-tier ottoman frame is the safer route.

Sturdy bed with a nice finish. The light oak veneer gives it a high-end feel and the ottoman storage is incredibly handy.
Considering the price of this bed frame, I would not recommend it. In the beginning we had to have some pieces replaced because they were chipped. A week later they came to replace those pieces. A few weeks later I noticed another piece is chipped but I couldnt be bothered to report it. I am really disappointed with Dreams products. Especially because they are so expensive, I was expecting better quality. The ottoman is very spacious and the bed looks good though.
Solid frame easily put together
I recently purchased this Ottoman Bed Frame, and it has matched my decor perfectly. The sleek, modern design fits perfectly with my decor, offering a minimalist yet elegant look. Assembly was was done by the staff in a quickly and friendly manner. The frame feels incredibly sturdy with no squeaks or wobbles, even with daily use. The slatted base provides excellent support for my mattress, and has helped me have a comfortable nights sleep.
This bed was straightforward to build (with two people) and is a really good-quality, sturdy bed. It looks lovely and holds a heavy mattress no problem. The under-bed storage is brilliant! Really happy with our purchase.
Fantastic bed and great for storage.
The bed is great quality and was straightforward to assemble. However, I ordered a walnut coloured bed, and unfortunately the bed I received is a completely different colour to that shown in the photos. The photos depict the walnut colour being a brown / chocolate shade whereas the bed I have received is a more orange-y / yellow-y colour. I still like the colour but the photos are inaccurate.
Very sturdy bed with a great space beneath for storage.
Good sturdy bed, yet stylish and very practical - loads of hidden storage space underneath!
The frame was installed by Dreams and the base is not firmly set. The guy explained that is because of our wooden floor. If it is sitting on carpet, it won't have such situation. When I lift the bed up, the base is slightly movable.
It looks like the mechanism is steady, and works well, there is a lot of storage space inside. The headboard may be a bit short for a 30cm mattress, but overall it looks good.
The bed all in all is great and looks nice. My only slight issue is the screws on the side of the bed frame which arent too noticeable in the product pictures but I do notice a lot in my bedroom. For a fairly expensive bed, it just gives it a cheaper feel.
Love love this bed frame. Feels sturdy and the ottoman feature is great.
Beautiful sturdy bed, easy to put together. Loads of room in the ottoman.
So easy to build. Very generous storage space. Verry comfortable
Sold frame and a good size
Lovely bed - very easy to put together
Looks Great! Just as good as the photos and lots of storage space which is easy to get to. Very sturdy and it really makes the room!
High standard of materials used, with clear instructions for assembly. Completed in approx 1hour
Solid bed. Does the job, lots of space, enjoy the fact it has boards on the bottom too to keep the stuff stored off of the floor.
