About the Little Star Pocket Sprung Kids Mattress
Last checked
A pocket-sprung support core is the main construction story here, and it puts the Little Star in a different camp from the basic all-foam children’s mattresses often bundled with starter beds or European single frames. That is a sensible upgrade for small bodies. Pocket springs can compress more locally than a foam slab, so a child’s hips and shoulders are less likely to make the whole mattress bow as one piece, although this is still a straightforward kids’ mattress rather than a miniature adult hybrid. The stated feel is medium, 3 out of 5, but the build reads slightly more care-led than comfort-led: the removable cover washes at 40°C, the surface is water repellent for night-time accidents, the fabric is anti-allergy and PVC-free, and the manufacturer positions it from around age five upwards. A water-repellent, washable cover is more unusual and useful in this category than another layer of vague padding would be; the catch is that wipe-clean practicality rarely feels as plush as quilted foam, so the surface should be expected to feel stable and tidy rather than pillowy. The breathable claim also needs plain-English handling: it suggests a cover intended not to trap warmth, not the ventilated feel of open-coil mattresses with lots of air space or adult pocket hybrids with specialist cooling layers.
The medium pocket-sprung build suits a first proper bed, especially where a parent wants more resilience than foam and less fuss when spills or accidents happen. Sleep feedback is mostly positive from families using it for young children and bunk beds, with comfort, a bit of bounce and sound sleep coming through repeatedly; the washable cover is also a genuine win, because that praise lines up with the 40°C removable-cover spec rather than just marketing gloss. Firmness is where the picture becomes less neat: although the label says medium, several lower-scoring experiences describe it as very firm or hard, including for a 10-year-old and for side sleeping, so the real-world feel appears firmer than the rating suggests. Lighter children may not compress the springs enough to reach much give. One longer piece of feedback also warns that a floor-bed set-up can expose edge squashing when an adult sits on the side for stories, which makes sense for a children’s mattress that is not being sold as reinforced-edge adult construction. For back sleepers who like a taut surface, that extra firmness may be welcome; for side sleepers expecting shoulder softness, it is the main risk. Younger children moving into a proper bed get the most from this. Firmness-sensitive children get too little cushioning - a softer foam-topped kids’ mattress or a higher-comfort pocket-sprung tier makes more sense.

Got this for my kids first proper bed and its been comfy enough with a decent bit of bounce, plus the wipe-clean cover is really handy. It was a bit firmer than I expected at first, but after a few nights it seems fine.
Impressed with its easy-to-clean design and just the right amount of support. My little one has had restful sleeps every night, definitely recommend.
lovely mattress and comfortable
Comfortable and perfect first bed with great features.
Amazing mattress, purchased two for a bunk bed the top one slightly thicker and the bottom one not as thick. Both amazing quality and very comfortable. They will last a long time. Very happy with my purchase.
I feel like i should only give this one star as we bought it for our grandaughters bed and she loves it so much and finds it so comfortable that she keeps going upstairs to read books in her bed instead of having fun with us. Im starting to miss her! Having jokingly said that, she is sleeping through the night on it and is no longer waking at 2, 3 or 4 for drinks or any other number of things.
Great mattress bought for my son who loves it and sleeps so much better. Really nice quality and very pleased that they offer european sizes.
This mattress seems just right in terms of softness verses support for our two and a half year old. The breathable top layer seems to be good quality and so far we have had no issues. Overall, we are very pleased.
Nice comfy mattress perfect for kids first big bed
We had an idea what we wanted so deciding and ordering was straightforward. A good wait on delivery - do not expect it in a week. As much as the delivery lads were friendly they firstly delivered the wrong bed. I had not realised at first as trusted that it was correct and was later going to put it together after work. Got a call from the other half saying they delivered the wrong one and they were on the way back. Fortunately for them I had not opened it, but it came across as a mad panic for them as they hefted one bed out and rush to put the other bed up the stairs as they scuffed black marks on my wall this time- they did apologies and most of it has come off but not all. Once unwrapped, noted there was a heavy black scuff mark on the base- fortunately you cannot see it. Also mud on wrapper so had to be careful taking that off to not get everywhere or on myself. To be honest, could not be arsed with too-ing and thro-ing with complaining and booking off time off work for it to be swapped or compensated with a meagre amount versus what you pay. It is a nice bed, just alittle more care either delivery service and ensuring no marks on it.
Lovely mattress that will hopefully see my 4 year old up to his teens. Really helpful that the mattress cover comes of in case of accidents. Lovely feel to this mattress and very comfy for him.
Very comfortable mattress, Had a small issue with original mattress costumer service has been amazing.
Great mattress, love the fact that there is a removable cover so it can be washed if needs be. My daughter has slept so much better since we changed to this mattress.
Excellent mattress for my son. He sleeps so well in this and super cofy for him.
The mattress fits well in the Anderson mid sleeper bed. Not that we expect to need this but it is made with a waterproof cover that unzips for washing. Our granddaughter says it is very comfortable.
We went to dream to look to buy our two year old his first bed, the staff were very responsive and knowledgeable on the products. They always asked if we would like a drink while be browsed and even let my son try the beds. I would return to this store again the team were brilliant
I bought this for my 6 year old. She says it is very comfortable. The fact it has a waterproof removable cover is a bonus and make cleaning the mattress very simple. I have had an adult guest sleep on this mattress too, and they said it was very comfortable too.
New mattress for our 4 year olds mid sleeper and she's never slept better.
I brought two Little Star Pocket Sprung Kids mattress for my kids bunkbed. The mattress is perfect fit and kids are very happy with it.
Great mattress for kids. Good support & the removable cover is great if your little one has accidents. The only thing that lets it down is how difficult it is to get the removable protector on & off. You have to pull it all the way down the mattress and it is quite snug. My daughter has the older version of this mattress and it zips off all the way round. Im not sure why they changed this as the older design was much easier.
