About the Eve the wunderflip ultimate hybrid sleep mattress

Last checked

The usefulness of the Wunderflip idea rests on the relationship between two tensions and one spring unit: Eve uses 1000 full-height pocket springs, arranged so the mattress can be flipped between a softer and a firmer feel. That is more practical than a fixed-tension hybrid for households still working out their preference, though it is adjustment within a narrow band, not a made-to-measure support system. A 1000-count pocket unit is on-tier for bed-in-a-box hybrids, but conservative against the £700+ pocket-sprung tier where 2000 springs, mini-spring layers or more explicitly zoned support are common. The unusual part is the two-sided tension, not the spring count. Individually pocketing the springs should let each coil respond more independently than an open-coil mattress, so pressure and partner movement are managed in smaller sections rather than across one connected frame. In practical terms, the support is still largely uniform: there is no spec evidence here of targeted shoulder, hip or lumbar zones, so the firmer side works through overall resistance rather than profile-aware engineering. The boxed, vacuum-sealed delivery format also places it in the modern hybrid camp, with a 200-night trial and 10-year warranty.

Buyers most likely to get on with it are those who want a supportive hybrid but are nervous about committing to one fixed feel, especially average-weight back sleepers and mixed-position sleepers who may appreciate moving between the softer and firmer faces. The strongest owner signal is comfort from the first few nights: several describe better sleep, less stiffness, and a firmer-but-cushioned feel that helped with back discomfort. That lines up with the spec. Full-height pocket springs are a better foundation for support than a thin all-foam roll-up, and the flippable design gives more latitude than a standard one-sided hybrid. The caveat is couple use. Eve’s spring wording suggests reduced partner disturbance, but one detailed owner account found movement very obvious and felt the firmer face was still too soft; another noticed early body impressions and a raised middle after two months, so heavier couples or sleepers who need very firm, settled edge-to-edge support may want a more heavily sprung pocket mattress instead. A recurring complaint is logistics: the lowest-rated feedback repeatedly centres on long delivery waits and poor updates before the mattress arrived. The sensible buyer is someone prioritising adaptable firmness, boxed access and early comfort; anyone needing proven motion isolation, punctual fulfilment or a notably firm long-term feel should look towards memory-foam hybrids with stronger isolation records or the higher spring-count pocket-sprung tier.

Specifications

Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.

the firmer foam

The firmer foam contributes to enhanced support and alignment during sleep, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals with back issues. Opting for a firmer foam may also increase the durability of the product, potentially resulting in a longer-lasting investment.

the pressure-relieving memory foam

A design focused on pressure-relief enhances comfort by evenly distributing body weight, which may reduce tossing and turning throughout the night. Additionally, this construction potentially alleviates common pressure points, offering a more restful sleep experience.

the softer foam

The softer foam layer offers gentle contouring, which provides enhanced pressure relief and a more comfortable sleep experience, especially for side sleepers. However, those who prefer a firmer sleeping surface may find it lacks sufficient support.

the cover

The cover's breathable material enhances air circulation, which can help regulate temperature and provide a cooler sleeping surface. Its removable and washable feature allows for easy maintenance, ensuring cleanliness over time.

the base

A dual-firmness design caters to varying comfort preferences, offering both medium-firm and firm options in one product. Premium memory foam layers enhance pressure relief and body contouring for improved sleep quality.

Frequently Asked Questions For The Eve the wunderflip ultimate hybrid sleep mattress

The questions below are the most common ones BedBoy readers ask when comparing products in this category. Contact the editorial team with a different question, quoting eve_thewunderflipultimatehybridsleepmattress in the subject line.

Several customers reported issues with edge support, noting that the mattress dips slightly, making it less stable when sitting or sleeping near the edge.
You can test the mattress for 200 nights. If it doesn’t suit you, returning it for a refund is straightforward.
At least one customer noted that the firmness might not be ideal for heavier individuals, as some found the support lacking over time.
Feedback is mixed; some side sleepers appreciated the adaptive comfort, while others found the firmness may not offer enough cushioning.
It should suit many average-weight side sleepers, especially on the softer side. Side sleepers with a pronounced hourglass shape may need deeper pressure relief at the shoulders and hips.
Average-weight back sleepers are a strong match. The medium-firm feel helps stop the pelvis dropping too far, while the pocket springs support the torso and hips.
While delivery aims to be prompt, some customers experienced delays, with a few waiting several weeks without updates.
It is rated medium-firm, 4 out of 5. The softer and firmer sides give some adjustment, but both stay within a medium-firm range rather than feeling plush or very firm.
The 1000 individually wrapped pocket springs should reduce broad shared dips compared with open-coil designs. The two sides may help if partners prefer slightly different feels, but not radically different tensions.
It comes boxed, which is convenient for delivery and getting it into the bedroom. The review does not cover a sleep trial or warranty.
The spring core should allow more airflow than a dense all-foam mattress. It is not described as a specialist cooling design, so very hot sleepers may want dedicated cooling features.
Most users did not report any significant heat retention issues, suggesting it generally maintains a comfortable temperature during sleep.

Nice mattress. Very comfy on the firm side and my parameter loves it too! I might try the softer side at some time point as I like to sleep on my side. The room still smells a bit chemical after two weeks. I think that will slowly dissipate, but may take a while. Anyway, the only thing I was a bit disappointed about was that I didn't get a sloth!

We chose the Wunderflip mattress and we are so happy with it! We are currently on the firmer side of the mattress but to sleep on the softer it is so easy to change and the mattress is so comfortable. We used to have a eve topper on our bed too and since having this mattress we don't need the topper (which is a shame as it was a lovely topper) but the mattress we have now is even better. Would highly recommend this mattress to anyone, all the way from ordering it to the delivery of the mattress it has been faultless the whole way and we are so happy!

Order and delivery was very smooth and stress free. We have the mattress on the firm side but it is quite soft and very comfortable to sleep on. We are a bit concerned that if the firm side is soft now, it may soften further over time and dip - but only time will tell!

Honestly I was so so nervous about getting a new mattress, I've had a bad back for at least 2 years and knew we were desperate to invest in something that would help me out. Two people at work also have Eve mattresses and highly recommended them, so we went for it! And it's great, we're so chuffed and relived that it's been so comfy we can't wait to get into it at night now... we also had the pillows which was also a game changer. We went on holiday and I couldn't wait to get back to it as the mattress we were on for a week completely wrecked my back all over again. Do it, you won't regret it!

Was thinking I probably wouldn't like it but made a quick decision thinking it was safe given the 200 day trial period. But think it's the bed mattress I've been on in years.

The mattress is a great sleep with two different firmness on either side. It is heavy to handle to flip over so you need to be strong or someone to help. It has good support and the edge support it also quite good.

I stupidly ordered a double instead of the king size. This has all been exchanged this morning by eve and bensons for beds. I can review the double - so comfy - like sleeping on a cloud I am sure. Cannot fault the quality of the mattress and definitely cannot fault the service .
