About the Staples and Co Queensbury Floorstanding Split Headboard
Last checked
For households wanting the headboard to read as furniture rather than a simple panel, the Queensbury sits in the more substantial camp: it is described as a floorstanding split headboard, so the board bears on the floor and is fixed back to the bed rather than hanging entirely from two slim struts. That is the key construction call. Floorstanding split construction is more substantial than entry-level strutted headboards, especially on larger divan sets where a one-piece board can be awkward through stairs and landings, but it also means the room needs space for a headboard with real visual weight rather than a barely-there outline. The split format is practical, not just decorative: it makes access and alignment easier while still aiming for a single broad backdrop once fitted. The product name gives the useful structural facts - floorstanding and split - and the strongest repeated reaction is to its appearance, with the headboard treated as a large, bedroom-defining piece rather than a modest bolt-on panel. It is not a subtle fitting.
The floorstanding split format pairs most logically with a divan-style base that can be bolted to the board, particularly where a freestanding visual anchor is wanted behind pillows rather than a wall-mounted panel. Praise tends to centre on the finished look and perceived quality, with more than one buyer describing the headboard as handsome once in the room; one substantial positive note also connected the wider bed set with useful base storage, although that storage point belongs to the base rather than the headboard itself. Fit and installation are where the feedback becomes more conditional, because paid assembly was singled out as worthwhile and the headboard’s size may make self-fitting less casual than a lightweight strut board. The comfort picture is mixed. One response found the headboard comfortable, while another liked the look but found a small gap made sitting up less supportive, so bed-readers need to check how their mattress and pillows meet the board rather than assuming a tall-looking padded back will give continuous support. This suits a divan-based bedroom aiming for a bigger, hotel-style focal point and a fitted finish; compact rooms, low-profile schemes and people relying on the headboard as a firm daily backrest are better matched with a slimmer strutted board or a wall-mounted padded panel that can be positioned exactly where support is needed.

I love the look of it but don't find it very comfortable when sitting due to a small gap, doesn't support back very well.
Looks good, very comfortable headboard, good storage space in the base. I would recommend paying to have it built by the delivery people. Paul and Ian were super helpful and friendly, leaving everything set up and ready for use. very pleased
Excellent quality and looks amazing in my new bedroom.
