About the Sophie Conran Aura Pocket Wool Mattress

Last checked

Comfort seekers are the obvious audience for the Sophie Conran Aura, because its medium, 3 of 5 feel is built around cushioning rather than hard orthopaedic resistance. The construction is a layered pocket-sprung mattress: individually wrapped pocket springs form the main support unit, with micro springs above to add a quicker, shallower response before the body reaches the pillow top. Under shoulder and hip pressure, that extra spring layer should give side sleepers more local give than a basic open-coil mattress, without letting the whole surface collapse. This is a genuinely layered build. Wool, bamboo and latex make the comfort stack more ambitious than the polyester-heavy padding common in standard pocket-sprung mattresses, with wool and bamboo aimed at moisture control and freshness while latex gives a buoyant, faster-recovering feel rather than the slow, sinking hug of memory foam. The honest call is that “sumptuous” should not be read as soft: hand tufting and a medium rating point to a cushioned surface held quite firmly in place, so the Aura is likely to feel plush-topped rather than loose or enveloping.

Side sleepers get the clearest match here. Average-weight adults who alternate between side and back sleeping are also well served by the spec, because the pillow top and micro springs add pressure relief while the pocket unit keeps enough lift through the waist and pelvis. The repeated praise is for balance: the surface is described as cosy and cushioned but still supportive, and the cooler feel mentioned more than once lines up with the wool, bamboo and latex rather than sounding like empty temperature-control language. Couples have a sensible construction on paper, since pocketed springs and micro springs allow each side to react more independently, although the described bounce means it will not feel as still as a dense memory-foam hybrid. The weaker signals are practical rather than structural: one bedding-in period took several nights before the feel improved, delivery was a nuisance in one case, and anyone wanting a very flat, braced back-sleeping platform may find the medium pillow-top comfort too forgiving. If the sleeper is an average-weight side sleeper wanting breathable cushioning with proper support, this works. If the priority is firmer lumbar hold or maximum motion isolation, a firmer pocket-sprung mattress or memory-foam hybrid makes more sense.

Feels nicely balanced with a bit of cushioning on top but still supportive, and it stays cooler than our old mattress. Delivery was a bit of a nuisance, but once it was in place weve slept well on it.

Really comfy mattress that is both super cosy due to the cushion top and really supportive. The mattress itself is really robust and sturdy, making it feel quite luxurious.

Our mattress arrived and was installed without a glitch but then for the first 3-4 nights we were wondering whether we had a mistake. So much so that I began researching mattress toppers! Then things began to change after we put on the protector. There after each morning we would say to each other isnt this bed getting better The sleep was definitely improving. And it was definitely having the patience for the mattress to settle down. So far so good.

I completely fell in love with this mattress already. Not only does it look the part, it feels amazing. The pillow top really adds to the support and comfort of the mattress. So far I've definitely been sleeping better. I have never had a latex mattress before but it feels very comfortable. It doesn't feel like it will dip over time like previous mattresses I've owned.
