About the Slumberland Response Latex Premium Mattress
Last checked
Latex is the headline material signalled by the Slumberland Response Latex Premium Mattress, with a firm, 5 out of 5 feel on the supplied scale putting it at the top end rather than the safer medium-firm middle. This is an uncompromising firmness label. Compared with softer memory-foam hybrids, the practical promise of latex is faster spring-back and less slow, enveloping sink, so the bed reads as a responsive, held-up surface rather than a pressure-moulding one. “Premium” should not be read as plush in the hotel-pillowtop sense: on the information supplied, the more honest interpretation is firm latex comfort, not deep cushioning. That makes the build direction quite specific. A latex-led firm mattress suits people who dislike being swallowed by foam, but it can feel unforgiving where the body needs deeper give, especially at the shoulder and hip. The buyer pattern broadly matches that split: positive reviews describe the mattress as springy, supportive and a clear improvement on older beds, with one account linking it to reduced morning back ache. Lower-scoring feedback, however, challenges the firmness message sharply, describing a surface that feels much softer and less stable than expected.
Back sleeping is the clearest use-case here, because a firm, responsive surface can keep the pelvis from dropping and maintain a flatter spinal line for people who prefer being held on top of the mattress. The feedback is sharply split. Some couples describe good comfort, plenty of room and little disturbance when a partner turns, which fits the latex idea of quick recovery without the slow drag of dense foam; lower-rated reviews repeatedly describe the opposite, with bounce, roll-together and a jelly-like lack of stability undermining shared sleep. Temperature is mixed too: several positive reviews say the mattress does not make them sweaty, while more critical reports call it hot and say the temperature-control claim did not show up in real use. The firm label also narrows the audience. Side sleepers, particularly those with pronounced shoulders or hourglass proportions, may struggle to get enough sink for pressure relief, even though some buyers find the surface more yielding than expected. A smell complaint appears in one detailed recent account, but the repeated negatives are heat, movement transfer and doubts over support. If you're a back sleeper who likes a buoyant firm surface, this works. If you're a side sleeper, heat-sensitive, or need strong motion isolation, a softer zoned pocket-sprung mattress or higher-spec latex hybrid makes more sense.

Pressure Relieving Breathable Latex – instantly adapts to your body contours for resilient support, promoting optimal spinal alignment to help reduce aches and pains, also naturally hypoallergenic
Dealing with the feature mentioned, the bonus becomes quickly apparent: resilient support tailors itself to individual anatomy contours, facilitating optimal spinal alignment, which can, in turn, alleviate persistent aches. Standing naturally hypoallergenic, this characteristic upholds a beneficial defensive line against allergen accumulation, effectively endorsing a fresher and healthier sleeping environment.
Dynamic reinforced edge support – for added durability, reduces roll-off, and optimises the sleep surface all the way to the edge of the mattress
Delving into the realm of dynamic reinforced edge support, this holds the promise of a considerable upswing in durability, fortifying your sleep companion against premature sagging or wear. In addition, it serves to mitigate the unpleasant sensation of roll-off, thereby ensuring you can fully utilise the entire breadth of the sleep surface, right upto the very boundary.

Furthermore, the longevity of the Kitemark™ recognition for over a century stands testament to the enduring reliability of products crafted under this hallmark.
Free 8 year guarantee – for peace of mind
An 8-year guarantee ensures long-term usage without worry of the product failing, which not only optimises investment but also safeguards against unexpected issues. Guaranteed longevity means you can enjoy comfort and support consistently over time, silencing concerns about premature product depreciation.
Deep quilted, stretch-knit sleep surface – featuring Truecomfort fillings for breathable, cushioning comfort
Tailoring your sleep experience with a deep quilted, stretch-knit sleep surface ensures that you enjoy a plush and comfortable sleep environment. Incorporation of Truecomfort fillings enhances breathability, thus promoting a cooler, more invigorating sleep by curbing excessive heat retention.
Comfort rating – Medium and Firm
One tension lets the mattress compress more under body weight, while the other resists deeper sinkage and keeps you flatter across the surface. Comfort labels vary between makers, because weight and sleep position change results.
Easy care – no turn mattress, simply rotate regularly, in line with the care guide instructions
Rotation shifts shoulder and hip pressure onto less-used areas. The lower face stays against the base, though you'll need room and grip to spin it on schedule, since missed rotations can leave body impressions forming sooner.
"I’m Green™” packaging – made from a minimum of 50% sugar cane and 30% recycled plastics
Plant-based and recycled wrapping means less new plastic around your order. What's inside isn't made from those materials, and the outer bag may need checking against local recycling rules before it goes in a household bin.
Deep Comfort layer – works in conjunction with the latex layer to offer extra pressure relief where you need it the most
Cushioning foam lets your ribcage and pelvis settle more gently. People who prefer a taut, flatter mattress surface may find the added sink too enveloping, since softer upper layers can reduce the sense of being propped up.
2550 Dual Layer Pocket springs – combination of 1500 mini and 1050 full height pocket springs, which adapt individually to body movement, for superior responsive support
Separate coils compress under heavier areas, letting your shoulders, hips and lower back move with less drag from the rest of the mattress. Deep cushioning is a separate question, since springs mainly control movement.
Good Housekeeping Institute endorsed for 2026 - This mattress has been rigorously tested by experts and proven to deliver strong performance and reliable results.
Good Housekeeping's badge gives you a third-party checkpoint before comparing firmness, support and wear claims across similar mattresses. It doesn't guarantee the mattress will suit your sleep position.
Adaptive® fabric treatment – helps keep you comfortably cool and dry for a great night’s sleep
Sweat at the cover is moved away from your skin, leaving the surface less clammy during warm spells. Heavy sweating can overwhelm it, and sheets need regular washing.
Mattress height – 33.5cm
Deep side panels lift the sleep surface higher off the bed base, making lower frames easier to get out of. Standard fitted sheets may ride up at the corners.

Absalutely thrilled with this mattress. So comfortable. Doesn't sweat you. Couldn't be happier.
The mattress is very comfortable but the smell of the fire retardent product on it was overpowering and gave me a headache. I have changed it for a more eco friendly non-chemical mattress, which is much better.
Honestly perfect - ordered online and it was so simple
Wish we had changed the mattress sooner! This mattress is springy but supportive, massive improvement on our old mattress. It is soft yet firm enough that I do not feel my partner moving. We put up with an mattress which was too firm for too long and finally I can sleep comfortably
Our new bed is so comfortable and cool we particularly like the way it is pressure relieving. We have found that we are less prone to aches on a morning as well. So win win
It's a very nice very thick mattress but I wake up with a lot of hip and back pain (due to spinal stenosis) that I didn't have with my previous mattress
I brought the medium mattress as I was having problems with my firm mattress and my hips. It took a couple of weeks until it was comfortable as it initially caused lower back pain. However after 2 weeks I now find it very comfortable. Feels soft and luxurious. However if your partner moves around a lot you may notice this more when you've been used to a firm mattress before. I also find the mattress warmer due to the topping.
Best mattress ever bought, very comfortable, no longer wake up feeling sore
Incredible mattress! An upgrade was well overdue and since using this one my sleep quality has improved massively. Great service in store and by the delivery service
Lovely mattress providing a smooth firmness. Deep and luxurious.
Really comfortable mattress.Would shops at Bensons again. Great company to deal with.
Needed a change due to a back injury and the staff were great ended up with this mattress and it's great to manage a full nights sleep. Highly recommend
I told you right at the beginning that it is alot higher than I expected, I cannot touch the floor when I sit on it, this bothers me as I am 81 and actually worry about falling off, is there anything you can do.
