About the iGel NanoTech 6000i Plushtop Mattress
Last checked
The main fit story here is the relationship between a plush surface and a medium core, not an ultra-firm orthopaedic brief. The iGel NanoTech 6000i Plushtop Mattress is listed as medium, 3 of 5, which puts it in the more forgiving half of the mattress market without drifting into a soft, sink-heavy feel. The plushtop makes the first impression. In practical terms, that means the upper comfort layer is doing more of the cushioning work before the support system takes over, so shoulders and hips should meet less immediate resistance than they would on a firmer pocket-sprung mattress. The NanoTech and iGel language points to a cooling gel-foam comfort story, but the honest call is that this is still a comfort-led mattress rather than a pure temperature-control product; compared with firmer pocket-sprung or latex-led builds, the value sits in pressure relief and initial luxury feel rather than a naturally springy, highly breathable surface. A medium plushtop at this level is a generous-feeling specification for side sleepers, but it is also less decisive for those who want a braced, flat sleeping platform. The support should feel progressive rather than abrupt: comfortable give at the top, then steadier resistance underneath, provided the comfort layers hold their shape over time.
Side sleepers and average-weight back sleepers are the clearest audience, especially where the priority is cushioning without losing all sense of support. Positive reviews repeatedly describe the mattress as comfortable after a short settling-in period, with several people saying it felt harder at first and then became easier to live with after days or weeks; that fits the medium plushtop spec, where the upper layers can feel taut before regular use and room warmth soften the surface response. Back sleepers who like a very level pelvis may still prefer a slightly firmer feel, because medium cushioning can allow more dip through the hips than a firmer pocket-sprung mattress. Heat feedback is more mixed. The iGel branding implies cooler sleep, yet one low-scoring account describes the surface becoming noticeably warm, so the cooling claim should not be treated as a guarantee for hot sleepers. Off-gassing is a clearer repeated nuisance: several accounts mention a strong new-mattress smell that lingers for weeks before easing, so this is a poor match for anyone sensitive to odour in a freshly furnished bedroom. The heavier warning is durability, because more than one low-rating account describes early dipping, collapse or loss of support, including a complaint from a 75kg sleeper; that does not prove every unit will fail, but it is a meaningful risk signal for couples, heavier bodies or anyone expecting a firmer long-term platform. If a side sleeper wants cushioned medium comfort and can tolerate an airing-in period, this works; if cool sleep or stronger resistance to settlement is the priority, a firmer £700+ pocket-sprung or latex-hybrid tier makes more sense.

Easy care – no turn mattress, simply rotate regularly, in line with the care guide instructions
Rotation shifts shoulder and hip pressure onto less-used areas. The lower face stays against the base, though you'll need room and grip to spin it on schedule, since missed rotations can leave body impressions forming sooner.
Luxuriously indulgent plushtop layer – for ultimate levels of surface comfort
This plush top layer encapsulates an opulent experience, promising sublime surface comfort. The illustrious blend of indulgence and comfort is ideal for those who crave a sumptuous sleep experience.
AdvantEdge™ edge support – for added durability, reduces roll-off, and optimises the sleep surface to the edge of the mattress
AdvantEdge™ edge support enhances mattress longevity while preventing unexpected roll-offs. It maximises overall sleeping surfaces, allowing optimal utilisation up to the very edge of the mattress.
6000 Triple Layer Pocket springs – combination of mini springs and full height pocket springs, which adapt individually to body movement, for optimum responsive support and comfort
Stacked pocket springs compress separately as you move, spreading pressure changes across the mattress rather than dragging one side down. Heavier bodies may prefer a firmer, simpler spring unit.
Exclusive iGel™ NanoTech Graphene Technology (85mm) – 12 x times faster heat transfer than standard memory foam – only available at Bensons for Beds
Graphene particles inside the 85mm foam layer move body heat away, making warm patches build up more slowly around your torso and legs. Very hot sleepers may need lighter bedding and ventilation.
Free 10 Year Guarantee - for peace of mind
Guarantee paperwork stays with the order and records where to go if a covered fault appears, making any future claim less vague. Read the exclusions, since everyday wear may fall outside cover.
Mattress height – 38cm
Extra depth puts more material between you and the base, lifting the sleep surface and altering the climb in and out. Check sheet depth and headboard clearance before ordering.
MTick accredited menopause-friendly mattress – endorsed by GenM, the independent menopause partner for brands, for helping to alleviate night sweats, one of the 48 signs of menopause.
Sweat-prone nights should feel cooler because the cover moves heat and moisture away from your body before it feels clammy. Hot flushes can wake you anyway.

We had been sleeping quite badly for a few months and when it was finally time to move house, we ordered our new bed with the 6000i NanoTech plushtop mattress. It was delivered on time by two very kind and helpful delivery chaps who took it up to the room of our choice. We slept so well that night and have had it now for almost a month. We both wake up refreshed and we are not waking through the night at all. It has to be the most comfortable bed/mattress we have ever bought. We purchased it online after viewing in the shop - we did manage to get additional discounts (more online than in the shop) and the numerous times we ended up changing the delivery date never seemed to be an issue, it was so easy to do online and select the date of choice. Would highly recommend this bed/mattress 5* Bensons! If you are sitting on the fence, get off and get down to the showroom and place your order, you will not regret it!!!
Very comfy mattress but bit expensive you get a good nights sleep if you don't think of the price
Very comfortable, nice design - lingering off gassing smell but it does settle after a few weeks of continuous airing
Probably the most comfortable mattress in the world. Sooo comfortable.
Best thing we have done in recent years is buy this mattress, it's an absolute game changer for those who suffer with any kind of back pain or numbness when sleeping. We are both quite slight and the lady in the shop took the time to walk us round the bed that would be suitable for our height and shape, taking onto account our back issues. Extre deep and beautifully comfortable
Amazing mattress, super comfy and of very high quality. My wife is hard to please and she is delighted. Great customer service also.
Absolute dream. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Very professional service. Friendly and efficient delivery men. I Gel Mattress superb.
Best mattress we have ever brought. Comfort amazing, I have arthritis in my hip, it's the only mattress I can sleep without pain.
Following the body scan and a preference for gel this was the most comfortable (and expensive) one for us. Totally worth the investment. We have a new born so having the comfort as well as manoeuvrability in the bead is important to us and the spring gel cmvo does that for us with aplomb.
Very pleased with the quality and comfort of this mattress having slept on it for one month. There is still a slight unusual smell from the mattress but i think it is fading or I,m just getting used to it.
A fantastic purchase, really has made a huge difference even to the quality of sleep we now enjoy.
A really comfortable sleep and seems to be cooler than our previous mattress.
The mattress is fantastic, loved it from the first night. Can't feel my husband get out of bed
Was a little harder than our previous matress but after a couple of days I found it really comfortable. It does have a really bad smell to it but it seems to have died down after about a month
