About the Dream Team Ashbourne Pocket Sprung Mattress
Last checked
Sleepers who actively want sink rather than push-back are the clear audience for the Dream Team Ashbourne 2000 Pocket Wool Mattress, because its stated tension is soft, 1 of 5. The practical point is sinkage, not just cushioning. The 2000 individually wrapped pocket springs should respond more independently than an open-coil unit, so the mattress can dip under the shoulder and hip without dragging the whole surface down, although a very soft spring feel will not give the same braced, upright support as a firmer orthopaedic pocket-sprung build. A 2000-count pocket unit with British wool is generous for a mainstream soft pocket-sprung mattress; the more conservative part is the Platinum 3D polyester layer, which is an airy synthetic comfort material rather than the pressure-relief density found in latex or the more engineered feel of the £700+ micro-spring hybrid tier. Wool is the more interesting comfort layer here, giving moisture handling and a less plasticky surface feel than all-foam padding, while the antibacterial cover is a freshness feature rather than a substitute for regular mattress care. Traditional tufting is an honest structural choice: it helps hold the fillings in place and reins in the softness, but the dimples and firmer tuft points are part of the feel, not decoration.
Wool, polyester and a pocket-spring core make this most convincing for side sleepers, lower-BMI sleepers and hourglass figures who need the mattress to give way at the hip and shoulder. Softer support is doing most of the fitting. Positive reviews repeatedly describe comfortable sleep, fewer aches after changing mattress and a softer feel that was exactly what was wanted, while one detailed couple account links the pocket springs with less disturbance when a partner turns over. The cooling claim is less settled: the wool and breathable cover make sense on paper, and some warmer-night feedback is positive, but a substantial lower-scoring account found it far too hot in summer, so the “cool in summer” promise is not guaranteed for heat-sensitive sleepers. Lower-scoring feedback also raises two practical risks that matter on a soft mattress: one complaint describes central spring sagging before 18 months, and another says the surface flattened, felt harder over time and left the deep tufts pressing into ankles or elbows despite regular turning. A separate low-rating account says the delivered mattress felt much firmer than expected and aggravated back and neck pain, so the soft label does not remove the need for careful fit if spinal support is already a concern. If the buyer is a lighter side sleeper or has a curvier shape needing extra sink, this works. If the priority is firm spinal control, reliable summer coolness or stronger long-term resistance to dipping, a firmer pocket-sprung mattress or the £700+ pocket-and-latex tier makes more sense.

Responsive pocket springs - individually wrapped for targeted support
Separate coils dip under shoulders and hips without dragging the whole surface down, giving your body firmer hold where it presses hardest. Couples may feel movement when one sleeper turns sharply.

Feels proper comfy and soft, and I sleep on my side so its been spot on without making my back ache. Delivery took longer than they said and the tracking was a bit useless, but the mattress itself is nice and cosy.
Terrific mattress, really comfortable while providing great support. Definitely noticing better sleep since making the switch.
Highly recommend. Bought a small double for my very tall teenage son and he loves it. It is soft with a slight spring to it. Very comfortable!
Lovely and comfy, very deep
Ive gone from a hard orthopaedic mattress to a soft mattress despite the sleepmatch test advising on a medium and its the best decision I have ever made. Its not really bouncy soft like old springy mattresses but theres just enough bounce to get a comfortable nights sleep right from the very first night. I said I wanted to be sleeping on a giant marshmallow and that is exactly what I got. I wont need the 100 night guarantee. I absolutely love it and youre not having it back !
Mattress is so comfortable i never want to get out of bed
Such a comfortable mattress. A soft mattress required due to health issues. Four visits to Dreams at various times of the day to re-try the mattress. The mattress is reversible so can be turned and flipped. It is 10 inches/25 cms in depth but my sheets fitted so did not need to buy new deep ones which was a bonus! It's made in Britain and extremely well made.
Since having this mattress Ive had the best nights sleep, I asked for a soft mattress, this is perfect, still enough support but it is so comfortable. An absolute Dream. If its comfort youre looking for I can highly recommend
Scrumptious soft but supportive! Best nights sleep, the natural fabrics keep our temperature regulated all evening. The cover fabric is so soft and feels really luxurious and great thats it has antibacterial to keep the mattress fresh over time. Would recommend to friends and family!
Great Matress, its very comfortable while still been supportive, eliminating aches and pains i got with my old one.
This mattress is so comfy, Ive had the best nights sleep and I love the fact that it is double sided.
