About the Alexa Small Double Sofa Bed

Last checked

For a study, box room or first-floor flat where seating has to double as guest space, the Alexa Small Double Sofa Bed sits in the compact sofa-bed camp rather than the full bed-frame camp. Its useful feature is the conversion mechanism: recent feedback describes a simple leg-attachment assembly at delivery, then a zip-access support leg and click-down action when changing it from sofa to bed. That is a light-touch build model. Compared with ottoman beds or drawer divans, the storage element here is functional rather than capacious; the hidden compartment is there to house the support leg, not spare duvets or pillows. The composition reads as convenience-led: upholstered seating, loose back cushions, a fold-down sleeping surface and four screw-in legs, with the fabric and colour doing much of the visual work. A sensible call for this product class is that ease of movement and installation matter more than heavy timber engineering, and that fits the feedback: one longer review noted the boxes were manageable enough for a first-floor flat, while another found setup limited to attaching the legs with the supplied tool. The oddity is the exposed zipper position on the seat pad, which means the back cushions need to stay in place to keep the sofa side looking tidy.

As occasional guest sleep in a small room, the Alexa lands best where its sofa function is used daily and its bed function fills gaps: studies, spare rooms and limited-space rooms come up repeatedly in positive feedback. Praise clusters around the look, the fabric feel, the colour options, the quick conversion and the way it makes a small room more versatile; one recent buyer also found it wide enough for two when opened out. Comfort is more divided than the tidy styling suggests. Several comments describe it as hard, low to the ground or thin enough that a support bar can be felt, and the practical fix mentioned more than once is a mattress topper for overnight use. Durability is the sharper warning: the lowest-rated feedback includes early dipping, a spring failure within weeks and a mechanism that stopped returning properly to sofa mode, so the neat fold-away promise has not matched every home experience. Delivery timing also crops up as a frustration, with long waits mentioned even where the handover itself went smoothly. This suits a style-led spare room needing compact seating and occasional adult or child sleepover use; for frequent adult guests, nightly use or anyone wanting a more bed-like surface, a thicker-mattress sofa-bed category or a dedicated small double frame is the safer direction.

  • Several customers noted early sagging in the memory foam mattress.
  • A few buyers found the back cushions must stay in place, which they find inconvenient.

Specifications

Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.

5 year guarantee – for peace of mind

Offering a five-year guarantee translates to long-term reliability, solidifying trust in the product's durability and quality. This assurance shields you from future unexpected costs related to your purchase, enhancing overall satisfaction and product value.

Luxury velvet fabric - for a premium look and feel

Experience a sense of opulence each time you step into your living room with the intricate texture of luxury velvet fabric. Its delicate touch partners with its lustrous appearance to subtly elevate any decor to an unmatched level of premium elegance.

Choose from 3 colours – Cobalt Blue, Metallic Grey, and Emerald Green

Coloured upholstery changes the visual weight in the room, giving you either a strong accent or a calmer base depending on the shade. Bold shades can clash once walls, rugs and cushions change.

Sofa dimensions - H83 x W122 x D89 cm

Compact width helps it sit in tighter rooms, while the depth gives a proper lounge feel for one person or cosy seating for two. Measure doorways first, because the depth can be awkward to turn.

Bed dimensions - H29 x W122 x L191 cm - sleeps 2 people

Width of 122 cm gives two sleepers a closer fit than a standard double, while the 191 cm length suits many adults who don't need extra legroom. Taller sleepers may find the 29 cm height low.

Solid wooden walnut effect legs – Art Deco inspired retro design for contemporary living spaces

Dark tapered legs lift the frame off the floor, making the seat read lighter in a room and giving enough clearance for a vacuum nozzle. Very traditional rooms may suit plainer supports.

Compact design and simple fold-out function – ideal for last-minute guests and an easy-breezy set up

Pulling the seat section forward creates a bed surface quickly, leaving less faff after a late arrival at home. Tight rooms may feel cramped once the bed is opened.

Very pleased with the compact size and ease of converting it to a bed. I like the way the additional legs fold away into the zippered pouches when used as a settee. Only problem is that the mattress is very hard and will need extra padding on top to make it more comfortable for sleeping.

Great little sofa bed. Comfortable as a sofa and super easier to change into a bed which is also very comfortable, the cushions that come with it make it even more cosy. The material is supersoft and the size is perfect for the space, just big enough for 2 adults but perfect for kids sleepovers.

I bought this because it fitted the space I had available and liked the ease of transforming from sofa to guest bed. On arrival, one of the wooden legs has a crack in it but is still useable. Also, the back cushions must be in position all the time as the zipper is on the top of the seat pad, which I find odd. The sofa looks nice and appears to be decent for the money paid. I've not used it as a bed yet but suspect it will require a topper to be comfortable. From order to receipt was around 12 weeks but delivery was relatively painless when it happened (just boxes dropped in the room, no unwrapping or construction - that's up to you).

Really like the small double sofa bed. Exact size I needed to fit into the space I had. The emerald green colour goes very well with my decor. Not been used as a bed yet and does seem quite firm but a mattress topper will do the job if needed.
