About the TEMPUR Pro Air SmartCool™ Plus Firm 25cm Mattress
Last checked
The fit story here starts with a dense, slow-response foam build rather than springs: the TEMPUR Pro Air SmartCool™ Plus Firm is a 25cm all-foam mattress with a removable SmartCool™ cover washable at 40 degrees. It is sold as firm, 5 of 5, with support coming from TEMPUR material resisting and contouring under body weight, not from a pocket-spring unit pushing back in zones. This sits in dense-foam territory. At 25cm, the depth is honest for a premium memory-foam mattress, but it is not a towering pillowtop hybrid; the value is concentrated in pressure-relieving TEMPUR foam and the cooling cover rather than in multiple spring decks, latex layers or visible upholstery depth. The SmartCool™ cover is the unusual part of the package for an all-foam mattress, because standard memory foam often carries a heat-retention penalty, while this cover is designed to give a quicker cool-touch surface and deal with heat at the top layer. Practical reality still applies: cooling fabric can improve first contact and surface freshness, but it does not turn an all-foam mattress into a ventilated pocket-sprung hybrid with air moving through the core.
Back sleepers who want firm support with a moulded, held-in feel are the clearest audience, and positive reviews repeatedly link the mattress with reduced back pain, better posture over the first few weeks and a firm-but-comfortable surface once the foam has settled around the body. Side sleepers with pronounced shoulders or hips have a tougher equation, because the firm grade gives less immediate sink than a medium foam or pocket-sprung hybrid, so pressure can build at the shoulder and hip before the foam has warmed and yielded. Cold bedrooms change the feel. A recurring complaint is that the mattress can feel board-like in a cold room, with one osteoarthritis sufferer finding it far harsher than expected, while other lower-rated reviews describe the opposite problem: deep sink, difficult movement and a sense that the “firm” label did not match the delivered feel. That contradiction is believable with viscoelastic foam, which can feel stiffer when cold and more enveloping once warmed by body heat, but it means couples with different weights or mobility needs may find the response less predictable than a spring-led build. Temperature feedback is more encouraging than old memory-foam stereotypes suggest, with several accounts saying they did not overheat and one substantial account praising the washable cover after a spill, which fits the spec’s removable 40-degree cover. For dedicated back sleepers wanting dense, contouring foam, this is the sensible match. For curvier side sleepers or anyone needing easy push-back, look at a medium pocket-sprung or latex-hybrid tier instead.

Firm comfort support rating - feels solid and supportive
A firm comfort support rating indicates a mattress that provides a robust sleep surface, offering substantial support for the spine and pressure points. This level of firmness is particularly well-suited for individuals who prefer a stable and supportive sleeping area, often helpful for those with back pain or those who sleep on their stomach or back.
100 Night Comfort Guarantee - gives you peace of mind when you buy
A 100 Night Comfort Guarantee allows for a trial period where the product can be tested in your own home environment to see if it meets personal comfort standards. If it doesn't meet your expectations, it can be returned for a refund or exchange, offering flexibility and assurance in purchasing decisions.
Reduces partner motion - limits movement disturbances
With its capacity to limit movement disturbances, this feature helps maintain an undisturbed sleep environment, even when sharing a bed. It enhances sleep quality by minimising interruptions caused by a partner's movements throughout the night.
Advanced cooling technology - regulates temperature for uninterrupted sleep
Advanced cooling technology ensures the surface remains comfortable throughout the night to reduce the likelihood of overheating. This feature aids in maintaining a consistent sleeping environment, contributing to better rest and relaxation.
Extended 10 year guarantee - exclusively available on TEMPUR products
Guarantee paperwork gives you a longer route for faults in the core or cover because you're not relying only on the retailer's shorter aftercare once something dips or splits. Wear, stains and comfort changes may be excluded.
Pressure relieving features - reduces pressure points for better sleep
Enhanced comfort results from its ability to alleviate pressure on various body parts. Improved sleep quality is achieved through reduced disturbances caused by pressure-induced discomfort.
Unique TEMPUR® material - contours perfectly to your body
Slow-response filling compresses under your head and neck, spreading pressure more evenly and reducing the hollow feeling at the nape. It can feel too close-fitting for restless sleepers.
SmartCool™ washable cover - that's instantly cool-to-touch
Fabric on the sleep surface pulls heat from your skin at first contact, giving the bed a fresher feel when you lie down. That first chill can fade once bedding and body heat build.

Tried several mattresses in the Dreams shop, decided the Tempur pro air firm was the one for us. Slept on it now for several weeks and have had the best nights sleep to-date.
Wife has spinal issues and found it too firm , i liked it but decided to go for medium now she seems alot happier so all good , easy to get it swapped even offered to swap again if needed , brilliant service .
Very good mattress. More on the expensive side but so far it is proving to be a very good mattress.
Cant rate this high enough!! We spent absolutely ages thinking about if we could afford this mattress, let alone if the expense would be worth it. But, we are so eternally thankful we did!!! Having read countless articles, read various feedback and had multiple store visit, Im glad we took the plunge! Both of us have had industrial accidents which left us with spine damage. Sleeping has been an ongoing issue. Getting comfortable, feeling supported, being able to move, feeling like youve actually slept. Its been years since we could say weve slept comfortably. Within seconds of lying down, sciatica kicks in, pins and needles and dead legs happen, not in this bed!! Ok, we have the adjustable bed, but thats more for sitting up rather than lying. But this mattress is supportive, it moulds to your position. Neither of us have been excessively hot which has been an issue for some, weve not experienced that. The mattresses are heavy, they do take some moving. However, its such heaven not waking up endlessly with hip pain, dead legs etc.
OMG this mattress is lovely I have a good sleep every night, it supports my back and hip brilliantly would recommend this to everyone
We are trying to get used to our new mattress as it is so different from anything we have ever slept on. It is a new feeling of finding the way it molds to your body. Still learning how to get off it - we are 75 and 78.
Straight away regretted not buying tempur years ago, i had previously bought a extra firm mattress but switching down a to less firmer mattress have made me benefit more ways than one be it a better nights sleep or less aches
When our mattress got delivered it was faulty, the delivery men were so good and sorted it. Our first night was awful we had been advised wrong as we had the firm mattress. We spoke to customer services and they were great, we did swap it for a sort one in the end which was the right choice for us.
