About the Staples and Co Regent Bedding Box

Last checked

Placed at the end of a bed or under a window, the Staples & Co Regent Bedding Box is doing the job of a blanket chest rather than a general cabinet: one large fabric-covered storage cavity, a hinged upholstered lid and enough visual softness to sit in a furnished bedroom rather than a utility space. Storage is the point here. The fabric finish is the standout material detail, because this type of box relies more on upholstery, lid alignment and clean finishing than on complex joinery; around the £400 mark, that places it above basic flat-pack blanket-box territory, where visible staples, loose lining and off-centre hinges are less surprising but still not desirable. The useful layout is straightforward, with no drawer divisions or shelves stealing space from bulky items, so it suits spare duvets, blankets, cushions and bed linen better than folded clothes that need separating. A hinged lid also makes sense for bed-end use, provided there is enough clearance in the room to open it comfortably. The small size has been described as spacious enough for bedding, which makes the capacity more generous than the compact footprint might suggest, but the construction lives or dies by final assembly accuracy rather than by an elaborate internal spec.

Set beneath a window alcove, beside a divan or at the foot of a matching upholstered bed, this is most convincing as a soft-furnished storage piece for rooms that need bedding hidden without adding another hard-edged chest of drawers. Capacity is its strongest argument. Praise tends to centre on the amount it holds, the modern fabric look and the sense that it feels sturdy once in place, with blankets, cushions and spare bedding repeatedly mentioned as the right sort of load. The quality-control complaints are too consistent to ignore: wonky or off-centre lids, hinge realignment, loose bottom staples, unfinished lining and small cover damage appear across the weaker feedback, and those faults matter more here than on a cheaper box because the whole product is visually judged on neat upholstery and a square lid. The positive comments on value therefore sit alongside a real risk of needing a replacement or minor adjustment, so the polished bedroom look is achievable but not guaranteed by the finish. For a coordinated upholstered box to swallow spare bedding at the foot of a bed, this is the right call; for buyers intolerant of hinge misalignment or delivery scuffs, look at fully assembled premium storage benches in the £600-plus tier instead.

The finish is very nice, but the lid has been fixed on wonky and not centred, I have had to remove the hinges from the lid and realign it myself. Not great really considering it cost approx £400.

The storage was very big and sturdy as expected,my only but was that some of the bottom staples had come off on delivery and there was a little cut on the cover, for the price you would expect it to be without any complain though,In overall i would recommend,it's really big and all of my bedding fit inside perfectly.

Finishes off our bed nicely. Practical area for storing bedding and solid enough to use as a seat. A little treat to finish off our room.
