About the Postureflex 1000 Pocket Natural Divan Bed Set Mattress
Last checked
A 1000-pocket spring core is the meaningful construction clue in the Postureflex 1000 Pocket Natural Divan Bed Set, because it moves this Bensons for Beds mattress away from basic open-coil support and into proper pocket-sprung behaviour. Each spring can compress more independently than a continuous wire unit, so the mattress should deal better with uneven load, hip pressure and two sleepers of different shapes than a cheaper traditional sprung mattress. Honest spec for the pocket-sprung tier. A 1000-count unit is still conservative rather than generous, though; compared with higher-count pocket-sprung or memory-foam hybrid mattresses, the support is more about steady, uniform pushback than contour-heavy pressure relief. Customer language also puts the feel on the firmer side: positive reviews describe it as comfortable and supportive, while a low-scoring account found the same resistance too hard for comfortable sleep. The “Natural” name gives this a more traditional comfort-story than an all-foam mattress, but the practical signal from the feedback is firmness, thickness and adjustability rather than a soft, sink-in surface.
The 1000-pocket support and firmer reported feel make most sense for back sleepers, raised-head sleeping and people using the divan mechanism to reduce strain through the neck, back or legs. Multiple accounts describe better comfort once the bed is adjusted, with particular praise from people who struggle lying flat or want separate positioning on each side of the bed. Individual controls are a genuine couple-friendly advantage here, especially where one partner wants to sit up, recline or raise the legs without moving the other side. Height is the access issue. More than one account flags the bed as higher than expected, including one wheelchair user and another household using a platform to make transfers easier, so mobility needs cut both ways: the adjustable action helps in bed, but the finished height may complicate getting in and out. The mattress also seems less compliant on the mechanism than the sales story might imply, with one buyer saying its thickness resists bending when raised and a detailed account describing the mattress creeping over the bottom holder. For back-pain sleepers who want a firmer 1000-pocket mattress on an adjustable divan, this is the right call. For plush side-sleeping comfort, easier low-height transfers or a mattress that flexes more willingly on an adjustable base, look at softer adjustable-compatible pocket mattresses in the higher comfort tier instead.

Specifications
Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.
Made in the UK – exclusively for Bensons for Beds
Crafting within the UK boundaries ensures adherence to strict British manufacturing quality standards, assuring users of unparalleled durability and safety. The exclusivity to Bensons for Beds highlights the unique, customised engineering designed to cater to specific sleep needs not typically met by mass produced items.
Comfort choice – Medium or Firm
Medium comfort choice indicates a beautiful blend of softness and support, suitable for individuals who prefer balanced firmness in a mattress. Opting for Firm represents an ideal selection for those desiring more stability in their resting surface, potentially beneficial for some with specific back or joint concerns.
Hand tufted – for a supportive feel
Hand tufting enhances the durability of a mattress, securing materials tightly together, delivering a firm and composed surface ideal for individuals who prefer a robust sleep surface. Conversely, the technique might be a less ideal choice for those seeking a soft, plush feel while resting.
Free 5 year guarantee – for peace of mind
Enjoy an extended period of reliability and assurance with this beneficial 5-year guarantee. It provides a security net, guarding against unexpected faults or deterioration over a generous half-decade timeframe.
5-part motorised adjustable frame – for effortless bed positioning providing better posture, spinal alignment, and circulation.
Separate powered sections lift your back and legs independently, letting the mattress hold positions used for reading, reflux relief or swollen ankles. Motors add weight and parts that may be awkward to repair.
Supports weight up to 25 stone.
Supporting up to 25 stone, this bed ensures durability for diverse users. Those approaching this threshold might notice reduced durability, so options with higher capacity could better suit long-term needs.
This autobed will only fit the headboards Jura, Oban, Moray and Melrose.
Headboard mounting points are set for four named ranges, keeping the moving frame aligned and reducing wobble as it rises. Other headboards may bolt on differently and could foul the mechanism.
Reinforced edge support – for added durability, reduces roll-off, and optimises the sleep surface all the way to the edge of the mattress
Firmer sides keep the border steadier under body weight. That border can seem harder during dressing or getting out of bed, though it won't stop a determined roll from a very restless sleeper.
Sprung slats – flexible wooden slats in the adjustable frame gives extra cushioned support to the mattress.
Curved wooden strips flex under the mattress, softening pressure as you move. They can add a little bounce and may not suit anyone who wants a very solid, board-like base beneath the mattress.
Traditional flag-stitched handles – Robust and secure for easy mattress rotating and turning
Side grips let you get a firmer hold on the mattress edge, after which lining it up again takes less wrestling at one end of the bed. They can strain fabric if pulled sharply from a corner.
Natural cotton and wool fillings – for breathable, luxurious comfort
Fibres inside the mattress take up moisture and release warmth, keeping the surface less clammy through the night. Wool can compress over time and may bother some allergy-prone buyers.
Base height – 38cm with silver glides, 34cm without silver glides
Glides lift the divan, leaving extra clearance beneath and putting the mattress higher for getting in and out. Remove them for a lower look, though cleaning underneath gets tighter.
Tension adjustment sliders – located in the central section of the sprung slats for customisable support
Movable clips in the middle slats stiffen or soften that zone, and can alter how firmly your lower back is held at night. They won't fix a slat base that's already sagging.
1000 Pocket springs – which adapt individually to body movement, for superior responsive support
Separate pocket springs compress one by one, reducing the jolt you notice when a partner turns over nearby. Edge sleepers may prefer a firmer, reinforced border.
Free Assembly – All our adjustable beds come with a white glove delivery service to a room of your choice, including the full construction of your bed.
Delivery crew carry the parts into the bedroom and build the frame, sparing you the lifting and tool work. Tight stairs can stop the job unless access is clear.
Belgian damask cover – for a soft, durable & breathable sleeping surface
Tightly woven damask lets air pass through the top panel, reducing the clammy patch that can build up overnight. Woven fabric can mark quickly after spills.
Corded hand-held remote control – easy to use, adjusts the 5-part motorised frame to find your comfortable position. One remote with up to 135cm size, 2 remotes with 150cm and 180cm sizes.
Buttons raise separate bed sections, helping you sit up or lift your legs without rearranging pillows by hand. Smaller sizes leave one handset to share.
Power supply needed to operate the motorised adjustable frame.
Plug-in motors move the base up and down, changing your resting angle instead of relying on stacked pillows. Cables can restrict where the bed can go.
Mattress height – 32cm
Taller sides raise the sleep surface on the bed base and can help you get in and out with less bend. Deep fitted sheets may sit tight at the corners.
Overall bed height – 70cm with silver glides, 66cm without silver glides
Silver glides raise the base to 70cm, leaving a taller step onto the mattress than the 66cm version. Shorter users may prefer the lower setup.

Before purchasing my bed I was treated very well by the shop staff who gave me all the information that I required. It was a thumbs up for the Delivery Driver and Mate they installed and explained how to use the mechanism The bed is working well and giving me great comfort
Very comfortable and warm to sleep on! Good quality. Colour was very close to how it was described. Only downside is it's quite high to get onto from my wheelchair.
Very comfortable bed guarantees a good nights sleep
I absolutely love my new bed! Being able to adjust my sleep position has been a game changer! I have arthritis in almost every joint and suffered constantly with back ache when lying flat as there was no support for my lower back, now I can adjust the bed so that the mattress gives me total back support throughout the night. I no longer wake feeling stiff and achy. Having the ability to raise my legs also means I am getting good blood flow back from my feet and legs which really makes me feel rejuvenated. My only regret is that I should have brought an adjustable bed years ago! Why lie flat when we could be cushioned and supported The only downside is that sometimes the mattress will slip over the mattress holder at the bottom of the bed. Whilst this is not currently a problem for me as I am able to push the mattress back up to the top end of the bed, if I were mobility impaired or frail it would be impossible for me to fix it on my own - hence the reason I have only given 4/5 stars! Perhaps the metal holder needs to be bigger and slightly thicker so that it is fit for purpose If you have an alternative, I would love to have one thank you as I can forsee that with me having arthritis and Carpal Tunnel in both hands, there will soon come a day when I am unable to push my mattress back into place. This is definitely a design flaw and (in my opinion) the only drawback I have found with my bed.
My Husband finds the bed very comfortable a little high (deep) but he has managed that, the bed mechanism is brilliant and has helped with his Parkinson's disease disability.good all round comfy bed thank you.
Love the beds so comfy and easy to use best beds we ever had would recommend over and over
Loving the bed so comfortable and a great night sleep.
Brilliant service in the shop. The bed is great. Bought a firm non latex mattress and this suits us both as very comfortable. We also bought an adjustble bed frame with individual controls which has been a fantastic. Really pleased with purchase. Thank you.
Very happy with my purchase, easy to use with the remote, an comfortable
So comfortable and helps with my posture. Sometimes I need to sit up in bed because of my back, this bed helps no end. Also good for swollen ankles. Installed by professionals.
The bed looks fab made up and ready to go. It's easy to use the control and finding the correct position for me was easy. Raising the head portion makes for getting into the bed easy and you can lower then to the correct position for sleeping. All in all the bed fullfills all my needs and I would recommend this bed to anyone who has difficulty finding a comfortable sleeping position due to back or neck problems. I cannot thank the Benson staff for their help and guidance in choosing and purchasing this bed.
Bed is fine, mattress is very thick and does not like to bend when bed is up
This bed is so comfortable. I bought 2 as my husband needed a bed for getting in and out easier with his disability. I got one too. So glad we did. It is so much comfier than our previous one. Much better nights sleep now.
Great bed. Looked around for a motorised bed for a while. Best overall price vs functionality we could find. Myself an my wife have different mattress requirements, now we are both happy.
Very nice bed. It's comfortable and plenty of room so I can sleep well.
After about ten years of sleeping in a recliner chair I'm now back to sleeping in a bed thanks to this bed (I never had room for one before) as I can't sleep flat on my back. Much better than the chair!
Comfortable bed, delivery and fitting very good. Was expecting a headboard, but none with it.
Good bed , I think the mattress may not be firm enough for me though
