About the Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Merivale Combination Mattress

Last checked

Side and back sleeping are the obvious target here. The Sealy Posturepedic Elevate Merivale Combination Mattress is a spring-and-foam design with a medium-firm, 4 out of 5 feel, using a coil support system beneath graphite-infused and plant-based comfort foams. The feel is lifted, not engulfing. In practical terms, the foams are there to soften pressure at the shoulder, hip and lumbar area, while the AlignSupport coils take the main body load rather than letting the sleeper sink as deeply as on softer memory-foam hybrids. Honest spec for a support-led hybrid. The graphite foam and Eco ComfortCore layer are more interesting than the plain polyurethane comfort stacks often seen on entry-level open-coil mattresses, although the absence of a stated spring count means the Posturepedic claim has to be read as branded support engineering rather than a transparent pocket-count story. The UniCased edge system is a useful structural detail, because reinforced perimeters reduce roll-off and make more of the surface usable for couples. Single-sided construction keeps maintenance simple, but regular rotation still matters because the comfort foams cannot be flipped to share wear across both faces.

Graphite-infused foam leads the comfort story. The SmarTex Plus cover and ProShield anti-allergy treatment add a breathable, cleaner-sleep angle, and the strongest real-bedroom pattern supports the spec: balanced support, cooler sleep and fewer morning niggles around the back, hips and shoulders are repeated positives. Average-build side sleepers tend to get enough cushioning from the upper foam layers without losing the firmer support underneath, while back sleepers are the cleaner match because the medium-firm tension holds the pelvis more level than a softer foam-topped mattress would. The firmer feel divides opinion. A small but meaningful minority found it uncomfortable or needed time to adjust, so the comfort grade should be read as supportive rather than plush, especially for curvier side sleepers who need deeper sink at the shoulder and hip. Adjustable-base feedback is also mixed, with one happy motion-bed pairing but another complaint about lumping and unevenness when the head section was raised; that makes the Merivale a safer fit on a standard divan or slatted frame than as an automatic choice for articulated bases. Sheet depth may need checking. Best for average-weight back and side sleepers wanting a cooler, supportive hybrid. Less good for curvier side sleepers needing deeper pressure relief, who would do better with a softer foam-topped hybrid or the £700-plus pressure-relief tier.

Really quite pleased with my purchase. Provides just the right balance between comfort and firm support, and the cooling feature is a bonus.

I was initially worried about moving from a soft memory foam mattress to a hybrid medium-firm one, especially as a side sleeper. Fortunately, I didnt need to be. This mattress feels noticeably firmer and more supportive, yet the plush depth and multiple softer foam layers on top make it very comfortable. It suits me well as a side sleeper and also works perfectly for my partner, who prefers sleeping on her back. One thing to note is that its deeper than our previous mattresses, so we may need to pick up larger fitted sheets. That said, its surprisingly light compared to our old dense memory foam one, which makes rotating it much easier as it settles. The “new mattress” smell disappeared within a couple of days, and we slept well from the very first night. We havent yet tested it through hot summer nights, but it has been warm and cozy through cooler winter evenings so far. Finally, the edge support is impressive—firm enough to prevent dipping, even when sitting or lying right on the edge, despite the mattresss depth. Overall, a great balance of comfort, support, and practicality. Would happily recommend.

Very comfortable. Seemed to have changed to a back sleeper since receiving this but also getting a much better nights sleep. Also, the kids seem to prefer it to their mattresses as theyre coming into bed with us more.

The mattress and the bed are of outstanding quality. The choice of a semi-firm mattress together with a motion bed was a well-thought-out process that we had spent time researching, and via excellent advice and guidance from the Dream Outlet in Coventry, UK. We would thoroughly recommend the mattress and the bed. We were impressed with the service provided by the installers and the after-sales service received from Sealy.

I didnt know how right the sleep machine could be, the pair of us have had the best 2 months sleep on this mattress, I honestly cant fault it. Spent more than we initially planned, I always went for the cheapest before, but I can honestly say it was worth every penny

Buying this Superking mattress was a big investment for us but we've slept so well since it was delivered! The Dreams sleep match service gave about 5 different options for us to try but we are so glad we chose this particular mattress. I'm 5'2" and my husband is 6'4" so we are very different sizes and weights. We always struggle to find furniture that is good for both of us, so are amazed and delighted that this really does work for us both - It gives good support whilst also feeling soft and comforting. Definitely a 'best buy' for us!

Ive been sleeping on this mattress for a few nights now and Im pleased to say its making a positive difference. I was hoping for something supportive and comfortable, and this mattress delivers on both fronts. What I like The medium-firm feel hits a nice balance: not so hard that you feel like youre lying on a plank, yet firm enough to feel properly supported. The products description calls it “medium-firm” and highlights the balance between support and plushness. The cooling feature is visible: the mattress uses INFUSE™ Black Diamond Graphite foam (which I must admit sounded fancy to me) to help with temperature regulation. According to the spec it “keeps you cool while cushioning your hips and back”. On warmer nights Ive noticed Im less restless. Excellent support for back and hips: I wake up without the usual niggles around the lower back and shoulders that I used to get with older mattresses. The “AlignSupport® coils” and plant-based ComfortCore layer appear to be doing their job. Good edge support: the mattress doesnt feel as though youll roll off when you get close to the edge, and the usable surface feels generous. Thats helpful when two of us are sharing it. Quality and build: the cover feels robust, the stitching seems neat, and while I wont pretend to have dismantled it, it gives a sense of quality rather than a bargain compromise. Where theres room for improvement (or things to know) Its a bit heavier/setup-intensive than my old one: rotating or manoeuvring it takes a bit of effort. If you prefer a super soft, sinking-in feel (the “body-hug” kind) this mattress might feel a little firm. Some reviews of the same family of mattresses note that side-sleepers (especially lightweight ones) might find medium-firm less contouring than theyd like. As with many new mattresses, there was a short adjustment period for my body clock and sleep-muscles to adapt. The first two nights felt slightly unfamiliar; by night three I was into it. Cooling is better than my previous mattress, but if youre a very hot sleeper I wouldnt say its magic. The spec claims better temperature control but some users of related models still noted some heat retention. Verdict In my view this is a strong pick if you want a mattress that blends support with comfort, especially if youve got a back that lets you know when the mattress is doing a poor job. For someone like me (part-time mystic, allotment keeper, old bones) it feels like a good investment in sleep rather than just a piece of furniture. Id say Im waking up more rested, and that alone makes the change worthwhile.
