About the Kimberley Blanket Box

Last checked

For anyone trying to tidy throws, spare bedding and cushions without adding a hard wooden chest to the room, the Kimberley Blanket Box is a fabric-upholstered storage piece with a lift-up lid and one deep compartment. The brief is storage first. Its soft finish puts it closer to an upholstered bed-end bench than a traditional trunk, so the visual role is as important as the capacity: it is meant to sit at the foot of a bed frame and look like part of the room rather than a utility box. Because the useful space comes from one open cavity rather than drawers or shelves, it suits bulky, compressible bedding better than folded clothes that need separation. An assisted lid is a genuine convenience over basic hinged blanket boxes, but on this construction class the hinge and screw fixing matter more than the fabric; the upholstery can look contemporary while the lid mechanism still carries most of the durability risk. The spec is modest but practical, with no complicated storage layout to waste internal space.

Style-led bedrooms with upholstered divans, fabric bed frames or soft neutral schemes are the strongest fit, especially where the box is being used for spare bedding rather than as a heavy-use everyday seat. Praise clusters around the elegant look, decent-feeling fabric and the amount it holds without appearing bulky, and the easy-lift lid is repeatedly treated as a useful feature when the mechanism behaves as intended. The style signal is calm. The two poorest ratings share the same failure mode: the lift arm or gas strut is described as too forceful for the hinge and screw assembly, with the lid eventually failing to close properly after the fixings pull away from the wood. That is an important contradiction to the easy-lift promise, because the assistance that makes the lid pleasant to open also appears to place stress on the hardware over time. If the aim is an elegant soft-fabric blanket box for occasional bedding and a tidy bed-foot finish, the Kimberley works. If the priority is proven long-term hinge strength under daily lifting, a reinforced ottoman bench from a higher furniture tier makes more sense.

Specifications

Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.

Minimalist modern design - for a serene, clutter-free sleep sanctuary

A minimalist modern design creates a calming and organised sleeping environment that promotes relaxation. It helps eliminate unnecessary distractions, offering peace and tranquility in the bedroom.

Highly durable woven fabric - for life-proof comfort and timeless style

Tightly interlaced threads give the upholstery a firmer, less stretchy surface, helping it cope with repeated sitting and brushing against bedding. Spills and pet claws can mark it.

Arrives fully assembled - conveniently ready to use to save you time

Drawers and frame arrive already joined, leaving you to position the unit and use the storage straight away. Check access first, since tight stairs can make delivery awkward.

Convenient internal storage - for blankets, bed linen and more

Lift-up space beneath the seats keeps spare bedding close, leaving nearby cupboards less crowded when overnight guests stay. Bulky items will make the seat harder to close.

I brought the Kimberley blanket box in October 2021 looks very nice, but the hinges have pulled out and lid does not close, the easy lift arm seams to be to strong and has pull the hinges away from the wood disappointed as it was a lot of money for me to pay out I thought it would last
