About the iGel NanoTech 5000i Plushtop REFURBISHED Mattress
Last checked
Anyone considering the iGel NanoTech 5000i Plushtop REFURBISHED is really weighing a comfort-led gel-top mattress against the compromises of a refurbished buy, rather than comparing a box-fresh spec sheet line by line. The refurb status changes the calculation. “Plushtop” points to extra surface cushioning above the support unit, so the first feel is intended to be more cushioned than a plain tight-top pocket-sprung mattress; that is useful for pressure relief, but it can also blur the crisp, locked-in feel some people expect when they order firm. “NanoTech” is marketing language, and the honest practical call is that the gel story should be treated as temperature moderation at the cover-and-comfort-layer level, not as active cooling in the way a chilled topper might imply. A 5000i-labelled plushtop sits above the entry pocket-sprung class in positioning, yet the refurbished label pulls value back towards condition, provenance and fulfilment confidence, which matter more here than another headline spring or comfort-layer claim. The most repeated happy feedback lines up with that construction story: the mattress is described as comfortable, supportive and noticeably less disruptive when one partner turns over.
The gel-plushtop emphasis is best matched to side sleepers and mixed-position couples who want cushioning without the dead, slow response often associated with all-foam beds. Sleep quality is the main praise theme, with several customers describing a clear improvement over an older mattress and one couple specifically linking better rest to reduced movement transfer; the temperature surface also earns credible praise because it is said to avoid both the cold-entry shock and the too-hot overnight feel. Average-weight back sleepers who like a cushioned top may also get on with it, although the softening effect of a plushtop means a firm order may not feel as firm as expected. Arrival condition is the awkward caveat. The weakest feedback clusters around mismatch and presentation: one buyer says the wrong iGel model arrived in poor condition, another describes poor packing, and the firmness/feel complaints contradict the firm-mattress expectation set at purchase. That does not make every refurbished unit suspect, but it does mean risk tolerance is part of the fit, especially for households needing reliable certification, a precise firm tension or the reassurance of new-product packaging. For couples wanting a cushioned, temperature-moderated mattress with decent movement isolation, this is a plausible call. For anyone prioritising exact firmness and new-mattress assurance, a brand-new pocket-sprung hybrid in the £700-plus tier is the safer route instead.

My new mattress is in a totally different league from my old mattress. It is not only totally comfortable but also very supportive of my body posture therefore enabling me to enjoy what I consider to be a higher quality of sleep. I would definitely recommend this mattress to anyone considering purchasing a new mattress…. You will definitely notice a significant change in your sleep.
Not bad but nothing like it was in the show room The mattress wasn't very well packed when it arrived on the lorry either
Ordered a firm mattress. It's definitely not firm- very very soft
I actually sleep better. This may sound odd but it was my wife who wanted to get a new mattress, I wasn't that bothered. Now I'm really glad we did. We chose a firm mattress with the highest spring rate which and my wife reports that now when I turn over she doesn't get affected by my movement. The heat moderating surface works as well. It doesn't feel cold getting into bed and doesn't get too hot overnight. All in all completely satisfied. I also must add a good word for the staff member who served us who was very knowledgeable and not the least bit pushy.
Amazing bed best night sleep ever changed from a emma bed this is the bed I wish I had 2 years ago
