About the Bergen 2 Door Sliding Wardrobe

Last checked

The sliding doors do the heavy lifting here. As a two-door sliding wardrobe, the Bergen is arranged around front-clearance saving rather than the swing space a hinged wardrobe needs, which makes the format useful in tighter bedrooms but also makes accurate assembly more critical because the doors have to sit squarely on their runners. Two people are a realistic minimum. Buyers repeatedly describe the panels as heavy and the instructions as hard work, with some taking far longer than the 3.5-hour build time mentioned in owner feedback. The internal layout appears to be conventional wardrobe storage rather than a drawer-led system, with buyers referring to hanging rails and shelving, including set-ups using rails on one side and shelves on the other. For a flat-pack sliding wardrobe in this mainstream price tier, that is an honest storage-first build: the value is in broad enclosed hanging space and a modern sliding frontage, not in premium hardware, pre-assembled convenience or a foolproof labelled-parts system. Once finished, the look lands better than the build process.

The track system is the make-or-break detail. In use, this suits a bedroom where a wide wardrobe is needed but hinged doors would crowd the bed or walkway, and the simple sliding frontage sits most comfortably with modern divans, upholstered beds and pared-back bedroom furniture. Buyers who get through the build often describe the finished wardrobe as spacious, good-looking and useful for everyday clothing, which matches the two-door format because it prioritises hanging width and shelf capacity over small-item drawer organisation. The repeated negatives sit around assembly and running hardware: unclear multilingual instructions, unlabelled components, heavy sections and weaker-feeling plastic fixings come up often, while door or rail problems after assembly undermine the very feature that makes the wardrobe appealing for compact rooms. This is best suited to buyers who want a roomy contemporary sliding wardrobe and can arrange competent two-person or professional assembly; anyone expecting quick solo construction, IKEA-style labelling or smoother long-term sliding gear is better served by fully assembled bedroom furniture or the higher-price fitted/sliding-wardrobe tier.

You need to be a competent person to build this as instructions are in French and the diagrams not very clear also don't expect to be able to build on your own it's heavy and when it says it requires two people there's a the reason good solid wardrobe when finished very pleased with how it looks

Well made wardrobe, heavy glass sliding doors, plenty of room in it. If anything when putting it together the instructions could have been a little clearer.

We were disappointed with the instructions not being in English which made it quite hard to assemble, it looks nice and has plenty of storage space.

We have purchased 2 bergen wardrobes. We assembled the larger wardrobe which we found to be of good quality. The instructions were in French and poorly and the drawings were difficult to follow. The bolts that hold the top metal rail that supports the heavy glass doors were insufficient for the weight. I had to purchase longer bolts and adapt. The second smaller wardrobe on unpacking was delivered in a damaged condition. I have had to reorder 4 damaged items within the pack and the redelivery time is 4 to 6 weeks. So all in all the wardrobes are of good quality for the price but we are not very happy with the delay for the replacement of the damaged items. Regards Mr & Mrs Hamilton

Was nervous about this after reading all of the comments about the difficulties of putting the wardrobe together. Agreed, it does take time. But it is so worth it. Instructions are in french but also have english translations. We are very impressed with the quality. As mentioned, it did take us 3-4 hours to out together but I'd rather spend that time and have a good quality wardrobe than a quick 1-2 hours and the overall quality be poor.

Wardrobe was a pain to put together. Instructions aren't all that clear. It's said 3.5 hrs and two person. It took us 7 hrs and at times three people and a hammer. Saying that end product is great.
