About the TheraPur ActiGel® Alaska 6000 Combination Mattress

Last checked

Hot sleepers who still want a cushioned feel are the obvious target for the TheraPur ActiGel® Alaska 6000 Combination Mattress, because its build puts a graphite-infused ActiCool®+ cover above a 6cm zoned ActiGel® foam layer rather than relying on a token cooling fabric finish. The comfort grade is soft-to-medium, so the top is meant to give before the support below takes over. That is a plush-leaning build. A 6cm gel layer is generous against many memory-foam hybrids, where cooling material often appears as a thinner cap over standard foam; the sensible caveat is that gel and graphite move heat away faster, but they do not make a warm room feel cool or replace breathable bedding. The zoned element should be read as pressure management through the foam surface, especially at shoulders and hips, not as proof of a highly engineered spring chassis, because the supplied detail centres on the comfort stack rather than the mechanics underneath. In practical terms, this is more about a smooth, sink-in top with some joint relief than a taut orthopaedic feel, placing it closer to premium cooling-foam hybrids than to basic open-coil mattresses.

The side-sleeper fit comes from pairing that softer surface with the 6cm gel layer, and the strongest praise follows the spec: comfort is the repeated theme, with several customers describing a squishy top that still feels properly supported underneath and, in one case, noticeably better night waking. Average-weight side sleepers are the clearest match, while heavier back or front sleepers may find the soft-to-medium feel less stable around the pelvis than a firmer pocket-sprung build. The cooling story is more modest in real bedrooms than in the manufacturer language; the effect is described as subtle rather than dramatic, which is credible for graphite and gel foam, especially under protectors, sheets and duvets. Mattress height also comes up as a practical issue, with one buyer finding the side harder to sit on because feet no longer reached the floor comfortably. The sharpest durability concern is the report of two sleeping channels forming with a raised ridge between them, a useful warning sign because plush foam comfort layers are more vulnerable to visible body impressions than firmer latex or tightly upholstered pocket-sprung designs. If you're a side sleeper wanting a cushioned, cooler-feeling top, this works. If you're worried about dipping or need firmer hip control, a firmer pocket-sprung or latex-hybrid tier makes more sense.

Specifications

Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.

100 Night Comfort Guarantee - gives you peace of mind when you buy

A 100 Night Comfort Guarantee allows for a trial period where the product can be tested in your own home environment to see if it meets personal comfort standards. If it doesn't meet your expectations, it can be returned for a refund or exchange, offering flexibility and assurance in purchasing decisions.

Extended 10-year guarantee - so you can rest easy in lasting comfort

Manufacturing faults in the cover, springs or foam stay claimable for longer. Read the terms before relying on it, because accidental damage, stains, body impressions and normal softening are usually treated differently from a manufacturing fault.

Soft to medium comfort - perfectly blends softness and support

Expect a gentle, cushioned feel that still keeps the body lifted enough to help stop aching pressure points. Choose a firmer option if strong pushback is needed for heavy builds, stomach sleeping, or back pain that flares on softer beds.

Made locally in the UK - British craftsmanship at its finest

Nearby factories mean the frame and upholstery spend less time in transit before reaching the retailer, and can leave fewer handoffs for queries about parts or delivery. Origin alone doesn't prove sturdier hinges or neater fabric work.

Graphite ActiCool®+ cover - offers TheraPur®’s coolest ever feel

Cover fabric treated for cooling sits closest to your body and can reduce that warm, clammy surface sensation during the first part of the night. Very hot sleepers may want stronger ventilation deeper inside.

Sumptuous pillow top - for an extra layer of cosy comfort

Stitched padding on top gives the surface a softer first touch. Because it sits above the support layers, deeper cushioning can feel warmer and won't suit people who prefer a flatter, firmer surface.

Responsive pocket springs - individually wrapped for targeted support

Separate coils dip under shoulders and hips without dragging the whole surface down, giving your body firmer hold where it presses hardest. Couples may feel movement when one sleeper turns sharply.

Adaptive micro springs - respond to even the tiniest movement

Enhanced flexibility ensures support tailored to even slight shifts in position, reducing potential pressure points. This feature promotes uninterrupted rest by accommodating movement efficiently.

ActiGel® technology - for advanced cooling and support

Gel pockets flex under weight and move heat away from your body, giving you a cooler, less swampy feel on warmer nights. It won't suit anyone wanting a deeply cushioned hug.

The most comfortable mattress! I have been a bad sleeper for years- waking up in the night and not being able to get back to sleep- but since having this new mattress its really helped my sleep! Its squishy on the top but very supportive underneath and distributes weight so well. The cooling aspect is subtle but effective. Love it, worth the extra money for years to come.

Very pleased with the mattress, it is so much more comfortable than my previous mattress. On the old mattress I used to feel the little dips that tied the layers together. This one is smooth and so more comfortable. The only problem is that it is a bit taller and I find it difficult to sit on the side with my feet on the floor – a nice problem to have!
