About the Staples and Co Belgravia Buttoned Floorstanding Headboard

Last checked

Buyers wanting the bed to set the tone of the room, rather than disappear behind pillows, are the natural audience for the Staples & Co Belgravia Buttoned Floorstanding Headboard. The two useful facts in the name are “buttoned” and “floorstanding”: this is a full-height decorative board that stands to the floor, rather than a lightweight strutted panel bolted only near the top of a divan. That gives it a more planted, furnished look. Buttoning puts it in the traditional hotel-bedroom register, with a padded, pulled-in face that reads more formal than plain panel stitching and less modern than vertical fluting or square channel designs. A floorstanding buttoned headboard is a more substantial build class than basic divan strut boards, and at the £800-ish level mentioned in feedback the finish standard has to do more work than the spec sheet here proves. The style is aiming at opulence rather than minimalism, helped by the colour-led comments from customers who used the bed tone as a base for redecorating around it. For sit-up readers, the padded face is the relevant comfort cue, though one complaint says the delivered board felt firmer and less soft than the sample they had seen elsewhere, so the upholstery should not be assumed to have a deep cushion feel.

Buyers who like a coordinated divan-and-headboard look seem happiest with the Belgravia, especially where the bedroom style leans classic, boutique-hotel or softly traditional rather than Scandi-light or ultra-low-profile. Praise tends to focus on appearance, colour and the sense that the buttoned headboard makes the room feel more finished; the cleaning cloth supplied with the bed set also lands well because upholstered fabric needs more care than wood or faux leather, particularly around buttons where dust can settle. The finish is the risk area. Criticism centres on value and workmanship, with the price challenged more than once and the harsher feedback flagging loose staples, misaligned fabric and damage that required follow-up rather than a quick fix. On a buttoned upholstered board, uneven fabric pull is more exposed than it would be on a flat wooden panel, so close-up tailoring carries a lot of the perceived value. The floorstanding format suits divan owners who want a tall, settled backdrop and a showier bedroom scheme; for plush softness and sharper detailing at this spend, the safer territory is a higher-grade upholstered headboard tier, while low-fuss households can try a simpler wooden or wipe-clean panel.

Specifications

Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.

10 Year Guarantee – For total peace of mind

Fault cover gives you somewhere to turn if fixings loosen or upholstery faults appear during normal use, reducing the chance of paying for eligible repairs yourself. Read the terms, because accidental damage and wear may be excluded.

Luxuriously Padded Upholstery – Stylish and comfortable

Fabric-covered padding gives your shoulders a softer surface to lean against. Fabric needs regular vacuuming and may show marks faster than wood or metal, while deep cushioning can make the headboard feel bulkier.

Buttoned or unbuttoned – Choose from classic button detailing or a clean minimal finish

Buttons pull the fabric into small dimples, adding texture behind your pillows. Plain upholstery is easier to pair with busy rooms, though button recesses can catch crumbs and take more care to keep tidy.

Staples & Co. Premium Headboard – The perfect complement to our Staples & Co ranges of divan bases

Matching upholstery gives the bed end a coordinated back panel, giving pillows a firmer stop and making sitting up less bare against the wall. Check the base fittings first, since bolt positions can vary.

Quality assured – Hand-crafted quality, made in the UK

Factory checks should catch loose fabric and uneven seams before dispatch, leaving the headboard looking tidier where it sits above the pillows. They won't guarantee identical stitching on every piece.

Floor Standing Design – For optimum stability and style, the mark of a premium headboard

Full-height panels meet the room surface, making the headboard feel steadier. They need clear skirting and enough wall space behind the bed, because the extra height can be awkward in tight rooms.

Strong, Sturdy Timber Frame Sourced from responsibly managed forests

Wood rails give the headboard a firm backbone, helping it sit flatter behind pillows and feel less wobbly when you lean back to read. Forest origin says little about the finish or joint design.

Wide choice of colours– Choose from different neutral tones or something brighter for a pop of colour

Fabric colour changes the headboard's presence, letting it sit quietly against bedding or become the main visible panel behind the pillows. Strong shades can date faster than plain fabric.

Hotel or floor standing height options – To suit your personal taste

Higher headboards create a bigger backdrop above the pillows, making the bed look more prominent against the wall. Large panels can crowd low ceilings or narrow walkways.

Deep buttoned, arched, winged design - A statement piece for any bedroom, fashioned with crafted pleats

Curved side panels wrap the headboard slightly, making the bed look taller and more enclosed from the front. Button recesses can catch dust and need careful vacuuming.

Hand upholstered in a range of Premium Upholstery Fabrics–A choice of textures and styles from velvet look, warm faux leather, linen look and more

Fabric over the padded face softens the board's hard edge and changes how it feels behind your pillows. Pale shades can show marks sooner, while pile needs brushing.

You get what you pay for these days! This bed wasn't cheap but it is definitely worth it! The ottoman design is strong and sturdy and doesn't feel like it's going to break when you open it unlike others I tried when looking at other stores! The mattress is amazing. Reminds me of a bed from an expensive hotel. Very very happy
