About the Rory Highsleeper Desk Bed Frame
Last checked
Families trying to turn one child’s room into sleep, study and lounging space are the obvious target for the Rory Highsleeper Desk Bed Frame. It is a high-sleeper rather than a simple bedstead, with the appeal sitting in the stacked layout: raised sleeping platform above a desk zone, plus the pull-out seating/guest-bed element and a small storage area mentioned by owners. That is a lot of furniture in one footprint. For this construction class, the multi-function design is the generous part; compared with a plain wooden or metal bed frame, the gain is floor-space efficiency, while the price paid is a far more involved build with more panels, fixings and alignment points to get right. The frame is repeatedly described as sturdy once assembled, and the colour and finish land well enough for children moving beyond a toddler-style room into something more grown-up. There is, however, a quality-control wrinkle: several lower-scoring comments mention repaired, damaged or awkwardly prepared wooden parts, so the finish seems capable of arriving slightly short of the polished impression the overall design promises.
A raised cabin-style frame with integrated desk space makes most sense in a smaller bedroom where a separate desk, sofa chair and spare bed would crowd the floor. Praise clusters around solidity, smart looks and the way children take to the den-like layout; the pull-out bed/sofa is also described as comfortable enough for the role, which matches the spec direction of a space-saving high sleeper rather than a decorative frame with no utility beneath. Assembly is the repeated sore point. Instructions are criticised again and again, build times stretch from several hours to nearly a full day, and there are recurring grumbles about exact-count fixings, broken bits, missing pilot holes and the need for electric tools rather than a basic screwdriver. Once built, satisfaction improves sharply, but the route there is not casual flat-pack territory; this is closer to assembling a compact cabin-bed system than a standard slatted bedstead. The Rory suits families who need one piece to cover bed, desk, lounging and occasional sleepover use; those wanting a quick, low-stress build should be served better by a simpler mid-sleeper or standard bed frame with separate desk furniture.

The bed is decent when up, but the instructions are awful, make no sense what's so ever. Also only get supplied with the correct amount of fixings, so had to go screwfix to buy more when some bits broke, I like the bed now it's up but I'd never buy it again as took near enough a full day to build
Really sturdy and quite easy to put together. Delivery was on time and easy to arrange. Only issue was a couple of the pieces of wood had clearly been reworked and repacked as you could see different shade on same parts where they had been repaired. Didn't have time to send back so had to just accept.
Very well packed and great quality. Bit of a pain to assemble. Instructions are ok but some of the holes were not pre drilled and it was hard with standard screwdriver. Would probably be ok with electric tools. Once assemble is great and my daughter absolutely loves it. Sturdy and seems to be from quality material. Also like little storage place.
Great Bed, easy to assemble. Came well packed and quickly. Highly Recommended
The bed itself is great once it's built...... The instructions are awful.... really hard to follow and an absolute nightmare to build. Parts of mine are damaged and im waiting for bensons to get back in touch about this. It's disappointing that it's not perfect especially given the price.
Like others have mentioned the instructions to build require a PHD. The bed took a while to build and a fair few stressful outbursts from the husband. That said it is a solid bed and my boy is overjoyed with it. I also love the new grown up feel it has given to the room and adore chilling in the sofa area.
My daughter loves the bed. However not the easiest of beds to put together. But so far so good.
Took a while to assemble. Great bed. Son loves it. Very sturdy and solid
Genuinely impressed witb this bed its absolutely solid and really good quality. Took me about 2hrs to build by myself with really easy instructions. My kids love it.
It's a really good bed. But it takes hours to assemble.
Really nicely made, great colour, sturdy. My son loves it!
Brilliant bed. Used the company to build it for us also. Was done in less than an hour and all rubbish cleared , the guys were great. My son loves it. Perfect for a small bedroom, pull out bed really comfy, bed sturdy. Really happy
Great quality and my boy loves it. Relatively easy to build but would definitely help if the parts were numbered like they are in the book. No numbers on the parts themselves at all.
Really please with the bed, my boy loves it. Was easy to put together, only tip is double check the instructions twice. The only thing toilet the bed down was the delivery nothing to do with the bed itself.
