About the Rest Assured Knowlton 2000 Pocket Latex Pillow Top Mattress

Last checked

Buyers looking at the Rest Assured Knowlton 2000 are paying for a traditional pocket-sprung mattress with a latex pillow top rather than a foam-heavy hybrid. The medium feel sits on a 2000-pocket spring unit, with the springs zoned for the back and hips, and that is a stronger support spec than the 1000-pocket builds common in the mainstream mid-range. The comfort layer is more qualified: 2.5cm of latex gives bounce, surface resilience and a less “stuck” feel than memory foam, but it is still a relatively slim latex layer, not the deep, buoyant latex construction found in the £700+ pocket-sprung tier. Honest spec for the money here. At 30cm deep, with a damask cover, tufted finish, air vents and turning handles, the Knowlton is built like a substantial no-turn mattress, although “single-sided” means maintenance becomes rotation rather than flipping. It is built to feel substantial. The weights back that up: a double is 39.5kg, a king is 46kg and a superking reaches 55.5kg, so the handles help with positioning but do not make it an easy mattress to move.

For real bedrooms, the medium tension and latex-topped pocket spring core make most sense for sleepers who want support without the slow sink of memory foam. Buyers repeatedly describe it as supportive, sleep-improving and neither too hard nor too soft, with backache relief mentioned by more than one happy owner. Latex keeps the surface responsive. The spring count also makes sense for couples, because individually moving pockets should reduce partner disturbance better than open-coil mattresses, while latex helps movement feel springy rather than deadened. The medium rating is where expectations can split: a recurring negative is that it can feel more unforgiving than the label suggests, especially for someone spending long periods in bed, while one low-scoring owner also described early body impressions that did not recover despite the latex resilience claim. Depth and weight need taking seriously; long-term buyers praise the substantial feel, but deep sheets may be needed and rotating a 46kg king is awkward for one person. The damask cover, latex layer and air vents point towards a more breathable surface than dense memory-foam hybrids, and the hypoallergenic claim is credible because latex resists dust mites well. The strongest fit is a back sleeper, combination sleeper or couple wanting a responsive, supportive mid-range mattress with a cushioned top; side sleepers wanting a soft, enveloping surface, or anyone needing easier handling, are better matched to a softer pillow-top or a lighter foam-led mattress class.

  • Heavy weight can make handling and rotating the mattress challenging.
  • Depth of the mattress necessitates purchasing deeper sheets, which can be inconvenient.

Specifications

Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.

Pocket Springs

Furnished with a generous count of pocket springs, this mattress offers superior reinforcement for your body while sleeping, ensuring each segment receives individualised support. This design brilliantly alleviates pressure points and enhances comfort, without negating the overall mattress durability, guaranteeing you a restful night for years to come.

Medium

With a medium firmness level, this specification caters exquisitely to a substantial range of sleepers, being not too hard nor too soft. The presence of 1000 pocket springs, complemented by gel layers, intends to distribute weight evenly across the surface, aiding in maintaining correct spinal alignment and contributing to a restful night's sleep.

Fire Resistant

Ensuring safety during your peaceful slumber, fire resistance is a crucial feature that reduces the risk posed by potential accidents involving flammable materials. Furthermore, it demonstrates the manufacturer's commitment to adhere to strict safety standards, prioritizing your well-being over all else.

National Bed Federation Approved Brand

Receiving approval from the National Bed Federation indicates that the product meets specific industry standards and quality benchmarks. This approval serves as a reassurance of the product's reliability and durability, though discerning buyers may still want to consider personal comfort preferences.

Air Vents

Integrated air vents encourage better breathability within a mattress, promoting a cooler night's sleep. Moreover, they simultaneously assist in gently eliminating excess humidity, thus maintaining the mattress’s freshness and longevity.

Includes turning handles

Turning handles aid in the regular rotation of the mattress, thereby significantly extending its lifespan. Easy maintenance is always appreciated, and these handles streamlining the process by making rotation hassle-free and manageable.

Damask cover

Woven fabric gives the mattress surface a tighter, smoother feel under sheets, with a patterned thread structure that resists the baggy stretch some softer covers can develop. Spills can sit in the weave, making a protector sensible.

Approved by the National Bed Federation

Factory auditing checks that the mattress is made under UK rules for flammability, fillings and labelling, giving you a clearer paper trail for what arrives at home. It doesn't prove comfort, firmness or long-term durability.

Pillow top

A pillow-top layer gifts you with an additional layer of pure comfort and softness. It capitalises on reducing pressure points and enhancing back support which could contribute to a more restful and pain-free sleep.

5 year guarantee

Fault cover puts manufacturing problems in writing, making a loose strut, failed fixing or collapsed padding less of a gamble after delivery. Accidental damage, fabric marks and poor fitting usually sit outside it.

Hypoallergenic

Hypoallergenic mattresses are the perfect choice for those with allergies or sensitivities, as they protect against allergens and irritants. They're also a great choice for those with asthma or respiratory issues.

30cm deep

Taller sides lift your sleeping surface and suit deeper fitted sheets. Standard sheets may ping off, while low bed frames can become awkward for shorter people once the extra height is added.

Latex

Rubber foam compresses under weight and springs back quickly, creating a buoyant surface with less slow sink around pressure points. Very warm sleepers may prefer a cooler open-spring build.

Handcrafted in the UK

Factory workers assemble and finish the mattress by hand, leaving small variations in stitching or edge detail you may notice up close. It doesn't prove better support or longer life.

Single-sided

Bed-making is simpler because the comfort layers stay on the top face, leaving the underside to stabilise the mattress while you lie on the cushioned surface. Don't flip it over.

Second time I have purchased this mattress, very comfortable, not too hard and not too soft, just right in fact. Deep mattress so you need to purchased deeper sheets, but that's not a problem. Very heavy, but then you expect that with a mattress of this quality, as its one of the more expensive mattresses on offer
