About the Ava Metal Bed Frame
Last checked
The Ava is a metal bed frame with a curved bar detail across both the head and foot end, so its composition sits in the lighter, more open bedstead category rather than the bulky upholstered or storage-bed class. It is a simple visual proposition. Without drawer boxes, ottoman hardware or a fabric surround, the frame’s appeal is its clean outline and the way it leaves floor space visible, which is also why one recurring praise point is how easy it is to clean underneath. A metal frame at this level is fair for the price when the joints are well tightened, but it is a construction class that exposes every weakness: thin tubing, poor paint coverage or loose fixings are felt more quickly than on a chunky wooden bedstead. The curved metalwork gives it a softer look than a plain tubular frame, and the head-and-foot design adds more presence than a divan base, though it also means the finish needs to be tidy because chips and dents are very visible on painted metal. Assembly appears manageable for two people, with clear instructions mentioned positively, but bolt and washer handling comes up as a small practical irritation, especially where washers can drop or sit awkwardly during fitting.
For bedrooms where the frame needs to feel visually light, easy to clean around and more decorative than a plain platform base, the Ava has a clear role; several buyers describe it as attractive, tidy in the room and sturdier than cheaper flat-pack alternatives. The open metal structure can make a smaller room feel less crowded than a solid wooden sleigh frame or fabric ottoman, and it pairs best with a good-quality mattress and secure slat support rather than relying on the frame alone to do all the work. Feedback splits sharply on solidity. Praise often centres on a quiet, stable frame once assembled properly, including comments about no early squeaking, but the lowest-scoring experiences repeatedly describe a lightweight, tinny feel, movement during use and visible finish faults such as chipped paint, moulding errors or damaged metalwork. That creates a real contradiction with the contemporary, any-bedroom positioning: the design is versatile, but quality control decides whether it feels elegant or cheap in the room. It lands well in a spare room, guest room or tidy modern bedroom needing an airy, wipe-clean metal frame; if the brief is a heavier everyday bed for a couple who dislike movement or want a more substantial feel, consider a thicker-gauge metal bedstead or a mid-range solid-wood frame instead.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Assembly takes about 30 minutes and is straightforward according to several buyers.
- Recent owners mention the frame provides good stability and has no squeaks after use.
- Buyers find the light weight an advantage when moving the frame for cleaning tasks.
- Several customers note the timely delivery and careful packaging of the bed.
Cons
- Buyers report that the bed moves easily with minimal pressure due to its light weight.
- Several customers received the frame with scuffs or chips visible on the metal surface.
- A few owners indicate that the single slat support leg is insufficient for stability.
- Multiple reviews mention moulding errors, including holes at the foot end of the bed.

Sturdy, attractive and adds a stylish touch to the bedroom. Also, easy assembly and solidly made, offering good value for money.
This bed is both stylish and sturdy. A little fiddly to put together but managed to assemble in just over an hour. Very good quality and managed to get 20% off in the Dreams sale. Would recommend.
Only been using this for 24 months and only right hand side of the bed is slept on. The slats on the the left hand side are perfect but the slats on the upper part of the right hand side have split and broken. Ill have to buy new slats. Not ideal
Great quality and easy to put together. Love the sprung slats.
The bed is incredible sturdy and has a modern look to it. Great space under the bed as well for maximising storage.
Great good looking bed for the price and very sturdy

Easy to put together, good quality frame and looks great in our daughter's bedroom
Solid and sturdy. Flower design sweet. Pleased with frame- looks good
Well made and finished. Slightly difficult to assemble and needs tightening again after a few days use, as advised in the instructions. Easy and comprehensive instructions.
Excellent service at all levels -from the store in Brighton where we were encouraged to try different mattresses. The deliverers were very prompt and attentive and even returned to rectify a small fault .So 10/10 all round John Gibbins
Very comfy . Nice bounce and protection. Had a lovely sleep
A gorgeous bed exactly as described. Delivered and built quickly and simply. Great shopping experience. Thank you
Some features of this bed are very nice, but I was disappointed with the assembly, the screw holes did not line up easily and the slats are very flimsy. Will be keeping an eye on them to make sure they do not split. Luckily I am not a heavy person.
Looks as is. Great quality for money. Easy enough to assemble but difficulty with beam screw.
bedframe is great, not a single problem. Only small thing i could say is that the assembly instructions maybe aren't perfect.
A solid sturdy bed just whats needed for a teenager. Staff where excellent and very helpful with all details of the bed.
Lovely design but had the odd stain near finials and chip on one of the flowers on the foot end of the bed. So didnt arrive in perfect condition but Im not perfect myself either.
Very pleased so far with the bed. Looks lovely and plenty of room underneath for storage. Arrived as planned and put together for me very quickly. Good value for money.
