About the Anderson Desk High Sleeper With Storage

Last checked

Space is the main product here. The Anderson is a children’s wooden high sleeper that stacks sleeping, homework and storage into one footprint, with the raised bed sitting above a built-in desk, storage cube and chest of drawers rather than leaving those pieces to compete for floor area. The slanted ladder can be set on either the left or right, which is useful in small box rooms where a radiator, door swing or wardrobe often decides the layout more than preference does, and Dreams positions it for children aged 6 and over. A painted white or grey finish puts it in the mainstream children’s furniture bracket, not the solid-timber heirloom end, but the proposition is broader than a plain loft bed because the desk and drawer storage are part of the frame’s working structure rather than add-ons. Compared with a standard wooden high sleeper, the spec is generous in functions rather than in visible reinforcement: storage, study space and an extra seating or sleepover element create the value, while the absence of stated weight capacity or heavy-duty construction detail means the build should be read as a space-saving kids’ unit, not a bunk-style frame for rough use or older teenagers.

The painted wooden frame and integrated furniture layout suit a 6-plus child’s small bedroom best, especially where a separate desk, drawers and occasional sleepover chair would otherwise make the room feel crowded. The space-saving promise largely lands. Repeated praise centres on children loving the den-like height, the desk feeling more usable than expected, the drawers and cube storage helping with toys and games, and the loose chair-bed being easy to move, pull out and use for reading or sleepovers; that chimes with the spec, because the Anderson’s strongest feature is not the bed platform alone but the amount of secondary furniture packed beneath it. Criticism centres on stability and finish quality. Several poorer experiences describe creaking, wobble on the ladder, damaged or chipped panels, visible paint flaws, loose fittings, missing covers and a chair-bed base that feels too flimsy for the price, so the manufacturer’s neat all-in-one pitch is undercut by a real risk that the delivered build feels less robust up close than it looks in photos. Assembly also divides opinion: two-adult builds and paid fitting are described as manageable, but the instructions and number of boxes can make self-assembly fiddly, and one longer-term user added wall fixing to make the frame feel more secure. Best for a younger child who needs one compact room set for sleep, homework, storage and occasional sleepovers. Less good for heavier, energetic children or households prioritising long-term rigidity and premium finish, who would do better with a heavier-duty high sleeper or a higher-tier modular cabin-bed system.

Solid wooden slatted base - offers firm mattress support

A solid wooden slatted base provides excellent stability, ensuring durability and support for the mattress over time. This feature enhances the longevity of the mattress by promoting better air circulation, which prevents moisture buildup and supports a comfortable night's sleep.

Painted wooden finish - classic wood grain enhanced with colour

Painted wood keeps the natural grain visible while adding a coloured look, which suits bedrooms that want warmth without a plain timber finish. Fine, expect paint to show chips and scratches sooner than an untreated surface, so it may need touch-ups if knocked.

Space-saving high sleeper - maximises floor space in cosy kid's rooms

Space saving built-in desk - perfect for homework or hobbies

Custom configuration - can be assembled to suit your room's layout

Great bed, my 8yr old son loves it. Sturdy, well made, easy to assemble. It looks great in his bedroom, and has created extra space with the desk space underneath. The single sofa seat is perfect for relaxing and reading.

Bought this new bed solution for my sons room. With two adults it was surprisingly easy to build although there were a few fiddly bits. The storage and pull out bed are fantastic additions and make the most of the limited space in his room. It looks great and hes over the moon with it. I had read some past review that the bed was noisy but so far this has not been the case. Very happy.

Child loves hes new bed ,really good space saver when only a small bedroom,my advice would to put the bed up first and keep the other boxes in another room until they are ready to be assembled so you dont get mixed up

Good bed frame which allows for more free floorspace in a small bedroom. We paid for assembly which was easy to organise and the guys that came to build it were polite and got on with the job with no hassle. Frame is a little wobbly though. It could do with some more cross braces on the rear of the frame to make it more sturdy.

Brilliant bed, son loves it and now cant decide whether to sleep up high or on the futon bed now! Desk area is great for him and has made his bedroom more accessible with more room to play. The construction of the bed does take a considerable amount of time to build, but worth it as you want to make sure you have done it right.
