About the TEMPUR® Duxford Upholstered Electric Ottoman Bed Frame
Last checked
For buyers who want a storage bed to feel less like heavy furniture and more like fitted bedroom kit, the Duxford is a fairly specialised frame: an upholstered electric ottoman with a tall stitched headboard, light oak legs, under-bed lighting and USB-A plus USB-C charging on both sides of the headboard. The base is not a slatted frame. TEMPUR uses a solid baseboard, which is a sensible pairing for foam mattresses because it gives a continuous platform rather than the more flexible feel of sprung slats; compared with standard gas-lift ottomans and drawer divans, the unusual spend here goes into the powered lift, internal light, auto-lock and bedside charging rather than visible timber detailing or removable storage drawers. That is a clear composition call: this is a premium convenience build, not a simple storage box on legs. The auto-lock after raising is more than a gadget, because a powered ottoman has moving hardware and needs a stronger safety story than a manual lift. The upholstered headboard gives it a dressed, hotel-style register, while the vertical stitching and border edge keep it more tailored than puffy. Light oak legs soften the bulk, but the underlying format is still a full ottoman bed frame with electrical hardware beneath the mattress platform.
The Duxford suits someone who opens under-bed storage often, dislikes hauling up a manual ottoman, or needs easier access because lifting a mattress platform has become awkward with age or strength. Praise repeatedly centres on the button-operated lift, with older buyers in particular describing it as a real relief after manual ottomans, and the internal light is consistently treated as useful rather than decorative because it makes bedding, boxes and seasonal items easier to find. Several also describe the frame as solid, quiet and more expensive-looking than expected, which fits the spec: a solid baseboard, tall upholstered headboard and integrated charging points all push it away from the basic storage-frame tier. Storage is where the promise needs trimming. One detailed complaint says the powered struts and boxed-off mechanism take more space than expected, reduce usable height, and make items at the far end awkward to reach; the frame also attracts repeated criticism for sheer weight, especially once a mattress is on it, with movement on carpet described as difficult unless dismantled. This works best for a main bedroom where the bed can stay put, where concealed storage is needed for things used occasionally, and where a TEMPUR or foam mattress benefits from a continuous platform. Anyone needing maximum usable storage volume, easy room rearranging, or frequent access to every corner of the base should consider a simpler manual ottoman, a drawer divan, or a higher-capacity storage frame without powered hardware.

Premium solid base board - our most advanced mattress support
Flat platform panels spread weight under the mattress, reducing dips between supports and giving you a steadier feel when you sit or turn over. Airflow underneath may be poorer than on slatted bases.
Electric lift ottoman - for effortless access to your storage
Motorised hinges raise the mattress platform from the base, leaving the space underneath open without you having to heave the mattress and platform by hand. Nearby power is a basic requirement.
Built-in charging points - keeping you connected while you unwind
Sockets set into the frame let a phone charge beside you, cutting the need for a trailing cable from the nearest wall outlet. Check the socket type before assuming every cable will fit.
Side-opening ottoman - with 21cm of internal storage
Mattress platform lifts from one long edge, letting you reach the under-bed compartment without pulling the bed out from a wall. At 21cm deep, bulky spare duvets may need another home.
Highly durable woven fabric - for life-proof comfort and timeless style
Tightly interlaced threads give the upholstery a firmer, less stretchy surface, helping it cope with repeated sitting and brushing against bedding. Spills and pet claws can mark it.
Contemporary panelled design - incorporates style into any space
Panel seams break up the upholstery, giving the headboard cleaner lines. Raised seams can catch dust, and large pillows may hide the pattern that gives the headboard its shape.

Really enjoying the practicality of this bed, especially the easy-to-use storage space, definitely a game-changer for decluttering my room. The integrated charging points are also a handy feature.
Solid modern bed frame really well made good quality looks very special
Fantastic End to End Service. Paula was an absolute delight and her relaxed and friendly approach was refreshing in this day and age where most of retail has become clinical and to be honest there is a lack of interest in “the customer”. You wont find that here though. I can say my experience with Dreams was superb, no hard sell, just genuine interest in me as the customer. This led to me buying not just pillows and new duvets to a brand new bed from them. Paula was fundamental in that and a credit to the brand. Thank you once again.
