About the Silentnight Miracoil Pillow Top Mattress
Last checked
For buyers comparing supportive mattresses below the premium pocket-sprung tier, the Silentnight Miracoil Pillow Top is a 26cm, single-sided sprung mattress with a medium-to-firm feel, a fibre pillow top and a 5-year guarantee. The build is straightforward, not flimsy. Miracoil is Silentnight’s linked spring system rather than a pocket-sprung unit, so support comes from a connected wire structure, with zoning intended to vary pressure through the bed rather than letting each spring react independently. That is fair for the price band: it gives a firmer, more uniform push-back than many basic open-coil mattresses, but it is not the same kind of point-by-point contouring found in higher-count pocket-sprung or memory-foam hybrid builds. The pillow top softens the landing. The Eco Comfort Fibre layer is a useful distinction for this tier because it is vegan-friendly, hypoallergenic and foam-free, although “plush” should be read as surface cushioning rather than deep sink-in softness. At 15.5kg in single, 23kg in double, 27kg in king and 32kg in superking, it is lighter than many boxed hybrids, but still benefits from two people when rotated.
Eco Comfort Fibre gives the top its cushioning, while the Miracoil core sets the firmer support character. Firm support is the recurring theme. Sleep quality and back comfort are the strongest repeated positives, including several mentions of waking with less lower-back, hip or knee discomfort after moving from a softer or collapsing mattress. It suits back sleepers, some combination sleepers and average-to-heavier bodies that want lift through the hips rather than a cradling feel; lighter side sleepers may find the spring response less forgiving at the shoulder, even with the pillow top. The firmness description needs tightening: although sold as medium to firm, the more critical feedback and one detailed longer comment place it closer to firm, with the first few nights feeling tougher before the surface settles. Rotation is the everyday nuisance. Because the mattress is single-sided and needs turning head-to-toe, the lack of handles becomes awkward once the size reaches double, king or superking. Temperature is less of a worry, as the foam-free fibre top should feel less heat-hugging than memory-foam hybrids, and heat complaints do not form a clear pattern. Couples get a supportive shared surface, but the claim about preventing partner disturbance is ambitious for a linked spring unit; individually pocketed springs remain the more precise option for movement separation. It fits back-pain-conscious sleepers wanting firm support with a cushioned top layer; for a genuinely soft, pressure-relieving feel or easier handling, the safer route is a softer pocket-sprung pillow top with side handles or a higher pocket-sprung tier.

Specifications
Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.
Medium to Firm
Brandishing a "medium to firm" categorisation, this refers to the desired balance between support and comfort. Typically, such a rating means you'll experience an optimal distribution of your body weight while ensuring pressure points like hips and shoulders won't sink too deeply, thereby resisting counterproductive sagging and promoting aligned posture.
Fire Resistant
Ensuring safety during your peaceful slumber, fire resistance is a crucial feature that reduces the risk posed by potential accidents involving flammable materials. Furthermore, it demonstrates the manufacturer's commitment to adhere to strict safety standards, prioritizing your well-being over all else.
National Bed Federation Approved Brand
Receiving approval from the National Bed Federation indicates that the product meets specific industry standards and quality benchmarks. This approval serves as a reassurance of the product's reliability and durability, though discerning buyers may still want to consider personal comfort preferences.
Eco Comfort Fibre
Encompassing sustainable and recyclable materials, Eco Comfort Fibre contributes to a greener environment while offering substantial comfort. This technology, simultaneously breathable and resilient, aids in maintaining an ideal sleep temperature and delivers an uninterrupted, restful night.
Chemical treatment-free
Opting for a mattress unmarred by chemical treatments essentially heightens your exposure to a more organic, safer sleeping environment. This invariably furthers your health prospects by diminishing potential toxic threats, directly contributing to a wholesome, restorative slumber.
26cm deep
A mattress with a depth of 26cm assures a medium-thick construction, offering a harmonious blend of support and comfort. Consequently, sleepers can anticipate a balance between plush comfort layers and robust supporting springs or cores, without any compromise on overall longevity.
Vegan-friendly
Plant-based or synthetic fillings avoid wool, silk or other animal-derived fibres, leaving the surface suitable for shoppers avoiding animal materials. Check cover materials and fire barrier details where allergies are involved.
Approved by the National Bed Federation
Factory auditing checks that the mattress is made under UK rules for flammability, fillings and labelling, giving you a clearer paper trail for what arrives at home. It doesn't prove comfort, firmness or long-term durability.
Pillow top
A pillow-top layer gifts you with an additional layer of pure comfort and softness. It capitalises on reducing pressure points and enhancing back support which could contribute to a more restful and pain-free sleep.
5 year guarantee
Fault cover puts manufacturing problems in writing, making a loose strut, failed fixing or collapsed padding less of a gamble after delivery. Accidental damage, fabric marks and poor fitting usually sit outside it.
Hypoallergenic
Hypoallergenic mattresses are the perfect choice for those with allergies or sensitivities, as they protect against allergens and irritants. They're also a great choice for those with asthma or respiratory issues.
Miracoil springs
Linked wire coils spread body weight across the mattress, giving your hips and shoulders a steadier surface and helping reduce the dip towards the middle. Couples may prefer pocket springs for calmer movement.
Handmade in the UK
A headboard made in the UK ensures meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. Handmade options may incur higher costs compared to mass-produced alternatives, which could affect your budget.
Handcrafted in the UK
Factory workers assemble and finish the mattress by hand, leaving small variations in stitching or edge detail you may notice up close. It doesn't prove better support or longer life.
Single-sided
Bed-making is simpler because the comfort layers stay on the top face, leaving the underside to stabilise the mattress while you lie on the cushioned surface. Don't flip it over.
Depth: 26cm
Mattress height changes how far you climb into bed, while a 26cm body can look substantial on a lower frame. Shallow fitted sheets may strain at the corners.

Excellent mattress, very comfortable and exactly as described on website. Looks like it will be good for many years to come.Little
New mattress to allow my aging father a little more leverage to get out of bed. He enjoys a soft mattress but the pillow top combined with a slight firmer base is doing a good job for him.
Best mattress ever, have not slept so well since having this mattress. Have tried three different ones in last five years but havent been able to get one that stops my arthritic pain in the night from waking me up but this one does! Highly recommended to anyone who suffers from lower back, hip and knee issues and pain due to arthritis.
Buying again as I've had this very same mattress for the last 8 years
Looks really good, but its not as comfortable as it looks, its quite firm.
My new mattress was delivered very quickly, the delivery team were really polite - they put protectors on their shoes while entering my flat which i thought was a nice touch as not many companies do this! And the mattress itself is fantastic, the description matched the website perfectly.
Lovely soft top but with good support. Excellent value for money. Using it in my spare bedroom but guests say it's very comfy.
Comfortable took a bit of getting used to as had last mattress for 20 years. The only thing I dont like as you are unable to turn it over.
Nice and firm. After struggling to find a truly firm mattress this one seems to be doing the job
Cant believe how comfy my new bed is! Such a good nights sleep, every night!
Superb quality and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this product
We ordered our mattress online, which had a great deal on the one we wanted. Easy to place order, email confirmation striaght away. Was updated with delivery date by email and then again by text message both before and on the day. On day of delivery, the van pulled up within the time frame given. The 2 guys were really friendly. They off loaded the mattress and brought through the door, they offered to take up the stairs which wasnt required but appreciated the offer. All in all, great service from order to delivery. Will always get any new mattresses from them and woukd highly recommend if your looking for easy hassle free online shopping and delivery for you bedroom goods.
Excellent traditional firm spring mattress, my lower back pain seems to have disappeared after a few days of sleeping on it. It was a replacment for a fairly new memory foam mattress which was terrible.
Purchased as I suffer from a bad back and wanted to downsize from a Heavy King to a lighter option
I was badly needing a new mattress and this is great
