About the Hyde and Sleep Memory Foam Mattress Topper
Last checked
The Hyde & Sleep Memory Foam Mattress Topper is built around a 4cm layer of profiled memory foam, with elasticated corner straps for mattresses up to 32cm deep and an anti-slip base intended to reduce movement. The removable cover is machine washable, which is useful because the foam itself is not the part to launder, and the profiled surface is there to open up airflow through what would otherwise be a fairly heat-retentive material. Four centimetres is a modest comfort layer. In topper terms, that makes this more of a pressure-softening pad than a mattress-rescue build; against thicker 6-8cm memory-foam toppers, it is on the conservative side, although the shallower depth also means less of the slow-sinking, trapped-in-foam feel that can bother some sleepers. The spec is honest for a simple comfort upgrade: memory foam should add contouring over shoulders, hips and knees, while the straps and base are practical additions rather than luxury engineering. The profiled cut is a sensible breathability feature, but it does not turn memory foam into a cool natural-fill topper, so anyone very heat-sensitive should treat the freshness claim as airflow help, not a full cooling solution.
Used on a mattress that is still supportive but feels too hard, this topper has its clearest role: it adds a small cushioning layer without changing the bed into a deep, enveloping foam surface. Praise clusters around firm or older mattresses feeling more comfortable, especially in spare-room use, and the immediate comfort lift is the most consistent positive signal. Fit is more mixed than the spec implies. The anti-slip base and corner straps sound reassuring, and some feedback does describe it as easy to put on and secure, but lower-scoring experiences include the topper creeping down the mattress and needing repeated adjustment, so the securing system should not be treated as foolproof on every bed base or cover fabric. The other caution is depth: one disappointed buyer found the difference too subtle and would have preferred a thicker topper, which lines up with the 4cm construction rather than contradicting it. Lighter and average-build sleepers are more likely to notice the pressure relief; heavier sleepers, badly dipped mattresses, or anyone expecting a full comfort reset may compress through it too quickly. It is best for sound mattresses that feel a shade too firm. Less good for sagging beds or deep cushioning, where a thicker 6-8cm memory-foam topper would make more sense.

This protector adds supreme comfort and support to your mattress. It's got 4cm of memory foam so the difference is immediately noticeable! With a medium tension, it's great for relieving pressure. The mattress topper cover is totally machine washable, whilst the profiled memory foam encourages air flow for lasting freshness.
Slips down the mattress unfortunately and is difficult to keep it secure. It is comfortable to sleep on
Fantastic purchase to help my Nans much too firm mattress
Easy to fit to a mattress, and it doesn't ping off! Comfy. Has made the spare room bed so much more comfortable without having to splash out on an entirely new mattress.
Even though I tried it in the store before buying. After sleeping on it for a while. I couldn't feel the difference. Would probably get a thicker one next time.
Really comfy- ive had it for about 2 months now and its lasting well, just as comfy as when i first got it.
