About the Flaxby Gransmore Headboard
Last checked
Paired with a divan base, the Flaxby Gransmore is meant to add softness and shape rather than dominate the room like a tall wingback. Its classic face is broken up by four horizontal rows of stitching, so the styling sits closer to tailored panelling than deep buttoning, scrolls or statement quilting. The stitching is doing the styling work. The spec gives two fitting routes - a strutted version and a full-height design - which is more flexible than the basic bolt-on headboards often sold with divans, where height and mounting are commonly treated as an afterthought. Fabric choice is the main register shift: bouclé reads cosy and textured, velvet gives a smoother hotel-style finish, and the woven option is the safer, more traditional route. For this kind of upholstered Flaxby headboard, that fabric spread is fairly generous; cheaper upholstered boards usually stick to one flat weave or faux leather, while higher-end bedroom schemes tend to earn their price through fabric finish, padding depth and cleaner tension across the face. The thick padding also changes the use-case, because this is not just a decorative slab behind pillows: it is designed to take shoulders and necks when sitting up, especially in the full-height format.
Thick padding and stitched upholstery are the useful parts here, and the strongest praise tends to land exactly where the specification points: the Gransmore is repeatedly described as stylish, sturdy, easy to fit and comfortable for reading in bed. The praise is mainly tactile and visual. Buyers who matched it with a Flaxby divan seem especially satisfied with the co-ordinated look, and the woven-style finishes attract comments about feeling durable and well made rather than thin or flimsy. The criticism is not about wobble or poor comfort; it centres on upholstery finish. Lower-scoring feedback mentions a slight pull across the top edge and small creasing, while one owner also questioned whether pressure from leaning back might leave lasting compression in the padded surface. That does not overturn the general satisfaction signal, but it does matter for a fabric headboard because small tension flaws are more visible on a plain, stitched panel than on a heavily buttoned or patterned board. A fabric finish also needs more careful cleaning than wood or faux leather, particularly in rooms where hair products, pets or children are part of daily use. It lands well for divan buyers who want a padded, tailored backrest in a classic fabric finish; high-wear rental rooms, wipe-clean households and anyone intolerant of minor fabric flaws belong with plain wooden boards, faux leather, or a higher upholstery tier.

The headboard is strong in it's structure so stands out as though proud to compliment and offset the new bed. The covering fabric materials are of high woven quality for durability.
Bought to match the Flaxby Divan - overall well-made and looks ok. Early days, but do wonder if any pressure from resting head on it will cause permanent compressions in the upholstery finish (feels like not much bounce back / resilience there...).
Excellent quality and finish, extremely pleased withthis purchase.

Very stylish and comfortable. Looks great in my bedroom, would definitely recommend. Not cheap but worth every penny.
Looks good, maybe the staples holding the back cover in place could be improved upon as cut my fingers on poorly fitted protruding metal with razor sharp edges
