About the TheraPur ActiGel® Polar 2000 Combination Mattress
Last checked
Hot sleepers and couples are the intended audience for the TheraPur ActiGel® Polar 2000 Combination Mattress, with its medium to firm comfort grade, graphite-infused cooling cover and zoned ActiGel® comfort layer doing most of the selling work. Cooling is the headline promise. A graphite-treated cover paired with gel is an unusual amount of temperature-focused material in a mainstream hybrid, more ambitious than a plain memory-foam mattress, although “eliminating overheating” is stronger than the construction can honestly guarantee in every bedroom. The hybrid format should feel more responsive under load than an all-foam build, so the sleeper is less likely to get the slow, enveloping sink that makes some memory-foam mattresses feel warm or restrictive. The zoned gel layer is the interesting part: it suggests targeted cushioning through the shoulder, hip and lumbar areas, but it remains a comfort-layer solution rather than evidence of a fully zoned spring system. Honest spec, but not magic. In practical terms, the Polar 2000 reads as a temperature-led, firmer-leaning hybrid for people who want surface freshness and steadier support, not a plush mattress built around deep pressure relief.
For shared beds where one person runs warmer or moves more than the other, the combination of firmer support, gel comfort and a responsive hybrid feel is the strongest fit. Sleep quality comments lean positive: comfort, a fresher surface and little partner disturbance are the repeated wins, which lines up with the spec’s emphasis on cooling materials and a support feel that is less swampy than standard memory foam. The motion point matters for couples. Back sleepers and many average-to-heavier side sleepers are the safer match, because the medium-firm bias gives the body something to push against; lighter side sleepers, or anyone with sore shoulders, may find the top feel too assertive if they need a mattress to yield quickly. Firmness is where expectations wobble, with the clearest negative signal being that the mattress can feel firmer at home than anticipated, while cooling feedback is positive but not unanimous. One repeated praise point is the sense of staying fresher overnight, yet a notable complaint is that the ActiGel feature does not always feel actively cooling enough to justify the promise, so the manufacturer’s heat-control language overreaches a little. Best for hot sleepers wanting a supportive, firmer-feeling hybrid that limits partner disturbance. Less good for plush-comfort seekers or those needing guaranteed heat relief, who would do better with a softer gel hybrid or a higher-price pocket-sprung cooling tier.

A brilliantly cooling mattress that keeps temperatures steady throughout the night. The ActiCool®+ cover feels fresh and avoids the overheating common with memory foam, while the medium-firm feel offers a strong balance of comfort and support. Ideal for couples and hot sleepers looking for a consistently cool, supportive nights rest.
Unfortunately the mattress is far too firm and nothing like what it was in the shop. Will have to exchange for a different mattress. However great service in store.
The mattress suggested was spot on, it's really comfy. The only drawback is, having obviously paid for the feature, I am not actually feeling that the Actigel element makes any difference; it's not cooling at all.
Old mattress was well worn. Did sleep test. Given a choice of mattresses, chose this one
Really comfortable mattress. Dont feel anyone else moving on the bed. Has a good cooling feature.
Was one of the mattresses calculated with the Dreams comfort machine.
