About the Sealy Divan Base On Glides
Last checked
Shoppers looking at the Sealy Divan Base On Glides are buying a practical divan platform rather than a decorative bedstead with visible legs, rails or a statement frame. This is a utility-first base. The glides are the defining construction choice: they keep the bed easier to shift for cleaning or repositioning than a traditional castor-free divan, while avoiding the more engineered mechanism, weight and cost of an ottoman lift. A glided divan is a conservative support format compared with slatted bedsteads; the value sits in a broad, flat support surface and simple room handling, not in exposed timber, sprung slats or premium joinery. Drawer storage appears in customer accounts, giving the base a more useful role for spare bedding and seasonal items than a plain platform, especially in tighter rooms where bedside furniture can block one side. Assembly is repeatedly described as straightforward, which fits the category: divans usually arrive in manageable base sections rather than as a full rail-and-slat build. The caution is build substance. With no visible slat count, timber grade or reinforced platform detail to lean on, the specification reads as plain rather than heavy-duty, and some real-world feedback backs that up.
The practical fit is strongest in bedrooms where the bed may need to move occasionally but should stay put during normal use, with happier accounts describing the glides as easy to manoeuvre when needed and stable on carpet once positioned. The glide story largely holds together. Buyers also like the tidy divan look, the simple assembly and, where drawers are included, the extra space for linen without stepping up to a lift-up ottoman, so the base suits a room that needs storage but not a full under-bed cavity. Flimsiness is the repeated warning: low-scoring accounts describe the base as poorer quality than expected from Sealy, with one longer account specifically criticising the platform top as card-like, even while saying the drawers were reasonable and the base was still holding under a better mattress. That creates a clear contradiction with the reassuring brand name; the product behaves more like an economical retailer-specific divan than a substantial premium base, and anyone expecting a weighty, reinforced feel may be disappointed. One damaged, distorted delivery account sounds more like a fulfilment failure than a consistent construction trait, but the lighter build criticism appears often enough to be taken seriously. Best for a straightforward carpeted room needing a low-fuss divan and occasional drawer storage. Less good for heavier everyday use or premium expectations, where a reinforced divan base or higher-priced ottoman tier would do better.

5 year guarantee – for peace of mind
Offering a five-year guarantee translates to long-term reliability, solidifying trust in the product's durability and quality. This assurance shields you from future unexpected costs related to your purchase, enhancing overall satisfaction and product value.
Strong timber frame – providing a supportive base for your mattress
Timber rails and panels hold the mattress on a firm, even platform, helping it sit flatter under your body and keeping dips from the divan less likely. A rigid platform can make a firm mattress seem firmer.
Available with different storage options – choose between an ottoman, non-drawer, 2 drawers, 2+2 drawers or 4 drawers
Drawer fronts and lift-up compartments put bedding inside the base, clearing bulky items from cupboards while helping a small bedroom stay tidier. Side drawers can be awkward beside walls or bedside tables.
Sturdy silver glides – keeps your base firmly in place
Metal feet lift the underside slightly and help stop sideways creep. They won't level out a badly uneven floor, and dragging the bed can mark some surfaces unless you add pads or lift it first.
Quality assured – handcrafted in the UK by Sealy, exclusively for Bensons for Beds
Neat upholstery and squared timber joins should help the base sit flat, with fewer visible ripples around the sides. Retailer-only supply can make like-for-like price checks harder.
Sealy divan base – the perfect complement to our Sealy range of mattresses
Matching base proportions keep the mattress sitting squarely, while the raised platform makes the bed look neater and easier to dress. Glides can drag on thick carpet.
Upholstered in a contemporary wovenfabric, in a choice of two colours – choose from Sand or Slate
Textured cloth covers the base, softening the outline and letting you pick a warmer or darker look for the room. Cloth can mark or snag over time.

Great service good price, good communication and very happy with the bed. Every part of the process was excellent and delivery arrived on time. All staff were friendly and helpful, including delivery team.
Glides make the bed easier to move when required. Again staff in store really helpful advice.
Excellent bed and service, really comfortable very well looked after in store
Solidly made and oozes style. The glides set the base off nicely. Two stars lost due to the "pierce here" stickers (for headboard fittings) were all in the wrong position. I had to remove drawers and pierce through with a brawl from within the bed frame. The majority of customers would find doing this a huge challenge. I include myself in this.
Our old divan had integral drawers which were useless as its runners were broken. Our new divan is fantastic. It has solved all our storage problems in one fell swoop!
Good solid base and sturdy and great drawers great colour and easy to join together very happy and a good price
This was very easy to put together , I did it by myself in half an hour
A good practical divan bed base, drawers are sturdy and a decent size.
Great quality product from a well known make Sealy well made nice materials should last the test of time
Most comfortable divan. Feels luxurious and looks amazing!
Very well made, easy to move with good size drawers. It's the second of this style that we have bought.
I was really pleased with the quality of this bed base. British made and a lot cheaper than a well known rival of theirs.
Thus us a great bed. It is very sturdy and the drawers make it a great choice in a room with limited storage.
I like the colour of the base and the storage is excellent but I really don't like the glides. I didn't realise it was not on castors. It is extremely difficult to move on carpet.
