About the Westbrook Metal Bed Frame
Last checked
Anyone furnishing a spare room, rental flat or pared-back main bedroom is the obvious audience for the Westbrook: it is a black metal bed frame with a simple, open-bar look rather than a fabric statement piece. This is a simple black metal bedstead. The rounded edges and clean lines put it at the practical end of the metal-frame category, where the finish has to do most of the style work and the structure is expected to stay visually light. Standard solid slats are an honest, cost-controlled choice for this construction class; they give a mattress a firmer, flatter platform than sprung slats, but they are not the more cushioned base often seen when metal frames are upgraded or paired with higher-spec bedsteads. Dreams does offer a sprung slat upgrade, which is the more forgiving option for foam mattresses and for anyone wanting a little give under the body. Assembly is the usual bolt-together metal-frame model, and the review pattern suggests it can be manageable, though easier with a second person holding rails square while fixings are tightened. There is no drawer or ottoman mechanism here, so the storage benefit is only whatever clear space the frame leaves underneath.
Black metal, solid slats and a minimal headboard make the Westbrook easiest to place in rooms where a bed needs to look tidy without dominating the scheme. Happier accounts describe it as smart, modern, good value when discounted and suitable for rental accommodation, with several finding it sturdy enough once assembled and one detailed account pairing the single sprung-slat version successfully with a memory-foam mattress. Noise is the main caution. The lower-scoring pattern is harder to ignore than the styling praise: multiple accounts mention practical quality-control problems, including misaligned holes, squeaking during movement, a loose or sharp centre-leg fixing, and more serious failures such as a side rail bending under a 78kg teenager or a frame breaking shortly after delivery. That sits awkwardly beside the “sturdy” positioning, so the safer reading is that the Westbrook can work well in lighter-use settings, but its consistency is not at the level expected from heavier metal bedsteads. The open headboard also divides opinion for children’s rooms, with one substantial account wishing the bars were closer together. The Westbrook suits spare rooms, student lets and lighter-use adult or child bedrooms that need a simple black frame; those prioritising heavy everyday use, silent movement or maximum under-mattress support should look instead at a heavier-gauge metal bedstead or a mid-tier wooden frame with a stronger slat system.

Effortless assembly and a real value for money. This bed frame is durable with a sleek finish, making it a stylish addition to my room.
perfect for our guest room
Exceeded our expectations. Super easy to assemble. Beautiful design and very sturdy.
Excellent Metal Bed Frame. Nice clear instructions so putting it together was far easier than your usual flat-packed products. End result is much more solid and of higher quality than my previous bed, and I'm getting a much improved night's sleep as a result of this. One very minor negative I think there should be more bars downwards on the head end - as my head will fit though the gap between them. as I have dozed off while sat up reading in bed and my head has bumped against the wall. I chose to buy from Dreams because their Web site has the best photos - some of the other I visited wouldn't show the single bed picture - only double, even when you clicked the single option.
Sturdy well-made bed frame. Easy to follow instructions (easier with 2 people assembling it). Would recommend.
Great bed for the price. Looks more expensive than it was and the coating on the frame is perfect. The only thing against it is its a little lightweight but very happy with my purchase.
Really happy with this bed. Its great for the price and looks lovely in our room. We went for the wooden slat option. Really easy to put up and nice and quick. Easy to read instructions. We are very happy. Delivery was quick and well communicsted as well.
I AM PROUD TO BE THE DREAM'S CUSTOMER AND VERY HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASES FROM THIS COMPANY. THE BED WAS VERY EASY TO ASSEMBLE AND THE MATTRESS WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOKKING FOR. THE DELIVERY GUYS WERE VERY POLITE AND FRIENDLY AND GAVE ME AN ADVICE WHEN TO USE THE MATTRESS. I WILL RECOMMEND DREAMS TO WHOEVER WANTS TO BUY BED OR BEDDINGS WITHOUT ANY HEADACHE OR PROBLEMS. THESE GUYS THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
Exactly what we were looking for for our guest room. Good quality. Comfortable. Would recommend
Bought this bed after moving home. It looks stylish and will great in our room. We love our new bed! We also arranged for Dreams to assemble it and this was a fantastic service and completed within half and hour.
The frames is lovely and looks good in the room as I have a similar I purchased from dreams.
Bought for my son to replace a squeaky frame. He loves it. Dead easy to put together. Mattress stays in place(it didn't on the old one!) Would definitely buy from here again and definitely recommend.
single: very sturdy bed, nice sleek finish. Athough side of frame where mattress sits on is sharp/ rough on the finish. For this reason not ideal for young children. I did think to return the bed. But I paid to have it put together and noticed when the fitters had left, seemed alot of hassle. But lucky my 10year old is the size of an adult so is very unlikely to scratch himself climbing into the bed.
Excellent sturdy bed frame. This bed was bought as it fitted into a small box room and it's ideal to put storage underneath the bed.
I was looking for something simple with a clean aesthetic and this fit the bill. The structure looks simple but it is a very sturdy bed frame and is worth the price. Added on for it to be built and the two lovely men that came did it in less than 45mins! Would definitely recommend.
Nice looking frame, no blemishes, went together well. Would have preferred not to have under slat legs though, a central rail construction would be better, hence 4/5.
Good sturdy bed frame that comfortably withstands two people plus a heavy mattress. Only issue is that the centre support nail has snapped, meaning all the weight is now solely on the four legs.
Perfect bed for our spare room So easy to put together
This metal bed frame is really good value for money, didnt take long to be put together and its very strong.
Its sturdy and stylish. It is a good height to allow access for easy cleaning and storage purposes
