About the Rainbow Kids Velvet-Finish Bed Frame

Last checked

The cot-to-bed move is the clearest context for the Rainbow Kids Velvet-Finish Bed Frame: a low-rise children’s frame with a shaped, pastel rainbow headboard, softened side rails and light wooden feet rather than a tall bunk, storage cabin or sofa-style day bed. This is a first-bed design. The velvet-effect upholstery is doing most of the visual work, and that makes it more decorative than the plain painted pine frames common in children’s rooms; the trade-off is that fabric finish and seam neatness become part of the quality judgement, not just the timber underneath. The safety spec is basic but sensible for the format: the low height reduces the consequence of a tumble, while the lowered side rails give a modest boundary without turning it into a guarded bed system. Compared with cabin beds and bunks, where rail height, ladder access and gap spacing become the serious engineering points, this is a simpler independence bed for children Dreams places at 4+. It is not a storage-led design, so its space saving comes from the low, compact profile rather than drawers, a desk or a pull-out sleepover section.

The early-years appeal is the point: children moving into a “big bed” are repeatedly described as excited by the rainbow shape, soft colours and velvet-effect finish, and the low frame is repeatedly praised by parents for easy climbing in and out. The low height does real work. It suits a smaller child’s bedroom where a themed bed can be the main decorative feature without adding the bulk of a midi sleeper, and several families link the design to a smoother transition from cot-style sleeping to more independent nights. Finish control is where the praise becomes more qualified: visible stitching, black underside fabric showing from side-on angles and one awkward wooden support part during assembly all appear in the less happy feedback, so the frame’s looks are stronger at a glance than under close inspection. Assembly is generally described as manageable with two adults, but the quality niggles sit awkwardly against the polished showroom-style rainbow concept. For a 4+ child who wants a low, pretty first bed without bunk height or cabin-bed bulk, this is the right call. For storage, sleepover capacity or a cleaner long-term finish into the later school years, look at cabin beds or higher-tier upholstered single frames instead.

Good quality bed which my 4 year old daughter loves however I have emailed Dreams customer services regarding the fact that some areas of the black underside material can be seen when looking at the bed from side on which spoils it. My email was sent 2 weeks ago with no response received as of yet.

Such a pretty little bed, my daughter is obsessed with her big girl bed. She has to show it everyone who comes in our house. I was worried about transitioning her from a cot to bed but I swear the design along has helped us so much. Also was very easy to put together with my husband. Highly recommend this bed.

Beautiful frame however a bit disappointed the slats are rubbing against the frame making the bed frame squicky a lot. We had to sort in by ourselves what's a bit disappointing with a new bed.

Perfect bed for my girl, she is almost 5 years old and loved the design of the bed. It looks beautiful and really good quality to me, the velvet effect is adorable. Bed heigh is short which to me was perfect fit for the bedroom design.

The pastel colours and light wooden feet are the perfect combination to make this a perfect bed for any little one. The low rise is ideal for kids to get in and out safely and independently. The rainbow style makes the bed special and will add that little something extra to the bedroom

First bed for my daughter, low to the ground so easy for her to get in and out of and less of a worry if she falls out. She loves the design but it's also not too childish so hopefully it will be ok when she's older too!

Bed is great my little girl loves it only issue we had is there was a slight manufacturing issue with one of the wooden bed poles that holds the mattress as it was made to small to fit the screw through to match metal side hole
