About the Pure Sensation Pillowtop Mattress
Last checked
An 8,250-spring king-size build sounds enormous, but the number needs reading properly: it combines the Advanced Cortec Quad pocket spring unit with 1,000 Posturfil springs plus 2,500 and 4,000 layers of high-density micro springs. The spring count needs careful reading. Compared with mainstream 1,000-2,000 pocket-sprung mattresses, this is a much more layered construction, though it is not the same as having 8,250 full-height pocket springs doing the main support work; the smaller springs are there to refine surface response and pressure relief. At 30cm deep with a pillowtop, wool, hemp, flax and cotton fillings, plus a wool-and-viscose cover, the Pure Sensation sits firmly in the natural-fibre, upper-tier pocket-sprung class rather than the foam-heavy hybrid lane. The medium or firm choice keeps the feel fairly conventional, while dual tension in king and super king is a genuinely useful feature for couples with different comfort preferences. The no-turn design is practical, but it also means settlement has to be managed by regular rotation, and the care notes are unusually direct about normal body impressions and the need for slat gaps no wider than 7.5cm.
The wool, cotton, hemp and flax comfort stack points towards sleepers who want cushioning without the wrapped-in heat feel of memory foam, and the customer comments largely line up with that: owners repeatedly describe it as very comfortable, with one longer account linking it to waking without the aches they had been trying to avoid. This mattress favours cushioned support. Side sleepers and back sleepers who like a softer pillowtop over a responsive spring base are the clearest fit, while heavier edge-sitters or anyone who sleeps right on the perimeter may find the border less convincing than the specification suggests. The edge-support claim is the weak spot: despite two rows of hand side stitching being specified for edge-to-edge support, the main lower-scoring account flags a soft top edge that dips noticeably when sitting or lying close to it. The 30cm depth also raises the finished bed height, which one satisfied owner noticed rather than disliked, but it could be awkward on a tall divan or for shorter users. For couples, the dual-tension option is the practical advantage, especially where one partner wants medium and the other firm, though the pillowtop and micro-spring surface will feel plusher than a taut orthopaedic pocket spring. Buyers wanting a breathable, cushioned, natural-fibre pocket-sprung mattress are the match; those needing a firmer perimeter, a flatter sleep surface or a lower finished bed height would be better served by a firmer flat-top pocket-sprung model or a hybrid with reinforced foam edging.

Mattress type: Pocket spring.
Requires turning: No.
Mattress care: Air for 4 hours before using to remove any odour. Allow at least 4 hours for springs to settle and for mattress to attain its full size. Indentations caused by settlement of fillings or body weight are normal and are not considered defects. If used on a slatted bed frame, the space between slats must be no wider than 7.5 cm. Spaces wider than this may cause excess dipping of the mattress and invalidate the guarantee. Always use a mattress protector. Rotate regularly.

Fantastic mattress. Extremely comfortable. Excellent service from Furniture Village.
Having slept on a super comfortable Harrison Spinks mattress whilst staying at a holiday property, we decided to purchase a regular mattress in the sale. It really does provide the most comfortable nights sleep and no aches and pains in the morning. So far, well worth the investment.
Great quality bed and very comfortable. Only criticism is that its very soft around the top edges so when sitting or laying near the edge its easy to dip down and slide off
I am pleased with this mattress and find it very comfortable. With the depth it does make my bed quite high but thats no problem for me.
