About the Flaxby Duck Feather and Down Washable 105 Tog Duvet
Last checked
Duck feather and down sit inside a 230-thread-count pure cotton cover on the Flaxby Duck Feather & Down Washable 10.5 Tog Duvet, making this a natural-fill all-season duvet rather than a synthetic hollowfibre one. The 10.5 tog rating puts it in the standard UK all-year bracket: warm enough for many autumn and winter bedrooms, but less heavy-going than a 13.5 tog winter duvet. The cassette box construction is the useful detail. Stitched internal boxes are there to keep the filling spread across the bed, reducing the familiar feather-duvet problem of warmth drifting to the edges or foot end. A 230-thread-count cotton casing is a proper natural-fibre choice rather than the brushed microfibre often found on cheaper hollowfibre duvets, although without a stated feather-to-down ratio this reads as honest natural-fill comfort rather than a premium down-led spec. The down-proof cover also matters in practice: one of the more substantial pieces of feedback praises the lack of feather prickle and the way the fill stays put, which lines up with the cassette construction and tightly woven cotton shell. Washability is useful, but feather-and-down bedding still needs careful drying, so it is less carefree than a quick-drying synthetic duvet.
Anyone wanting a warm, natural-feel duvet without moving up to a full winter tog is the clearest fit here, especially in a bedroom that runs fairly normal rather than hot. The warmth feedback is mostly reassuring. Praise repeatedly centres on cosiness, a light-but-warm feel and temperature balance, with several descriptions pointing to a duvet that keeps heat in without feeling stifling; that matches the 10.5 tog, cotton-cover positioning better than the manufacturer’s softer lifestyle language. The fill distribution also earns real approval, with the duvet staying plump and avoiding the clumping that cheaper feather duvets can develop. Noise is the main caveat. A repeated gripe is a crisp, crinkly sound at first, and while one happy buyer found it softened with use, another found the rustle intrusive enough to dominate the experience; feather-and-down encased in a down-proof cotton cover can have that papery character, particularly when new. Feel also divides opinion: most describe it as light and comforting, yet one person found it awkwardly heavy when changing covers and another returned it because it was not the weighty duvet they wanted. If you're after a balanced natural-fill 10.5 tog with good fill control, this works. If you're noise-sensitive, feather-allergic or want a deliberately heavy winter drape, a quieter synthetic duvet or a higher-tog natural-fill tier makes more sense.

What a difference a quality Duvet makes. I cant believe I have not had a feather duvet in my life before. Better comfort better sleep. Im a changed man. Im sticking with Duck & Feather and recommend you do too
Very warm when cold, seems to adjust to the temperature once the bed warms up
Fantastic quilt really cozy a little crunch to start but thats soon softened out absolutely love it
Perfectly weighted duvet. It feels comforting and luxurious. Sits nicely and wraps you up. Great purchase.
Because i was after a heavy feel duvet, i marked 3 stars. Ended up returning. Good qualityband worth it if you want a light duvet.
A beautifully comfortable nights sleep, just the right weight.
Natural unbleached material, super comfortable and beautiful
comfortable, warm, but the cover is too plastic and produce sound of plastic touching each other when using it
This is the best thing I have EVER bought. Its just gorgeous. Sleep like a baby! 10/10
I am guilty of purchasing duvets online due to the price, and yeh, i got what i paid for, filling piling up at the bottom, but worse of all, the feathers constantly pricking me and feathers on the floor and in the bed! What a massive difference it is to have a decent duvet, it is so cosy and it has stitched 'pockets' so the filling stays where it should. And ive had the new duvet about 2 or 3 weeks now and not once have i felt the prickle of a feather, I've not had to violently shake the duvet to move the filling to where it should be either. It really is worth the money, it feels luxurious and looks luxurious too, it's plump and really inviting. i am so happy with it
I didn't realise how 'past it' my old duvet was until my first night with this one - the feathers are evenly distributed, it moulds perfectly to my body, and has kept me cosy on the coldest of nights. It's worth every penny!
Excellent quality certainly contributes to my healthy sleep
Feather and down Duvet wonderful duvet so so warm and comfortable
Would not use any other type of filling for this type of quilt. Simply luxurious.
