About the Silentnight Eco Waterproof Bunk Kids Mattress
Last checked
The bunk-bed brief shapes the build here: the Silentnight Eco Waterproof Bunk Kids Traditional Spring Mattress is a reversible children’s mattress with a waterproof wipe-clean face on one side and a softer hypoallergenic sleep surface on the other. Its tension is medium, 3 of 5, although some feedback makes it sound firmer in day-to-day use than that label suggests. The support unit is traditional open spring rather than pocket spring, so weight is carried across a linked spring frame rather than by individually moving springs; for a bunk mattress this is a conservative, practical construction compared with pocket-sprung kids’ mattresses, keeping the feel simple and uniformly supportive rather than body-profiled. Honest kids’ mattress engineering for this tier. The comfort story is more about hygiene and reversibility than deep cushioning: EcoComfort fibres add a breathable padded layer, while the foam-free build keeps the surface less sinky than a memory-foam hybrid. The useful spec call is the dual-sided design, because it gives the mattress a clear first-stage use for toilet-training or night-time accidents, then a softer side once waterproofing is less important. The safety-led wording should be read as a simple, child-focused materials pitch, not as luxury comfort engineering.
Parents moving a child into a bunk, cabin bed or first “big bed” are the obvious fit, especially where mattress depth and wipe-clean practicality matter more than plushness. Praise tends to focus on the waterproof side doing its job, the reversible design feeling genuinely useful, and children settling well after the change of bed; the spec connection is straightforward, because the easy-clean face removes the need for a separate bulky protector while the softer reverse gives the mattress a second life. The waterproof side is the standout feature. Side sleepers are likely to get on slightly better than back sleepers, as the medium feel gives a little comfort at the shoulder and hip, but the open-spring core is still quite uniform, so children who need firmer, flatter support through the lower back may be better served by a sturdier spring build. Criticism centres on the feel being firmer and thinner than expected, with one recurring impression that it behaves closer to a toddler-style mattress than a generously cushioned children’s mattress; a smaller quality concern also appears around lumps, untidy stitching and distorted corners, though that is less repeated than the firmness complaint. Breathability should be reasonable on the fibre side, but the waterproof surface will inevitably feel more functional than cosy. If the need is a bunk-depth mattress that can handle accidents and later flip to a softer surface, this works; if the child needs deeper cushioning or a more refined support feel, a deeper pocket-sprung kids’ mattress makes more sense.

Found this to be quite comfortable and perfect for my growing kiddo. The waterproof feature is handy and the flips side is super soft.
Good quality mattresses, very comfortable. Quick efficient delivery.
Double sided and nice and firm, child never slept so good.
Great mattress. Perfect for our six year old who is finally in their first ‘big bed (mid-sleeper). They continue to sleep through the night despite the change to a new mattress. We bought the waterproof in case of any accidents but havent had any yet. Staff very helpful by highlighting we needed a thinner mattress for a ‘bunk bed - we had no idea, thank you! Great communication from company and driver re delivery time, and delivery driver was very friendly.
The perfect mattress that will grow with your little one! With a waterproof surface on one side and a soft, sumptuous reverse, this Silentnight bunk mattress offers versatility to suit your child's needs.
