About the Dream Team Tenby Combination Pillow Top Mattress

Last checked

A 1000-pocket spring unit with a memory-foam pillow top puts the Dream Team Tenby in the firm support-and-cushion camp rather than the deep-sink hybrid camp. Its tension is firm, 5 of 5, so the springs are being asked to hold the sleeper high while the foam layer takes the edge off surface pressure. A 1000-count pocket unit is a sensible but conservative spring spec for this type of mattress; compared with higher-count pocket-sprung builds or multi-layer memory-foam hybrids, it should give individual response under load, but not the more tailored contouring or weight-spreading found further up the range. The pillow top is the comfort story here. It adds plushness, but not softness. That distinction matters because the tufting is also part of the build: traditional tufts help lock the fillings in place and reduce shifting, although they can make a mattress feel more assertive than a smooth-topped foam model. The knitted cover and SmartSilver freshness treatment are useful finishing details rather than the main reason to buy; they support a cleaner-feeling sleep surface, but they do not turn a firm memory-foam pillow top into a cool, airy natural-fibre mattress. One practical note from ownership is height and bulk: the built-in topper makes the mattress substantial enough that deep fitted sheets and some duvet arrangements can become fiddly.

For back sleepers, the mix of firm pocket support and pressure-relieving foam is the Tenby’s strongest argument, and that lines up with the better feedback: sleep quality improves for a noticeable group, with back support, a held-up feeling and comfort for a larger body all coming through repeatedly. It suits flatter sleeping postures. Stomach sleepers who dislike sag through the hips may also get on with it, provided they are comfortable with a pronounced firm feel, while side sleepers and hourglass shapes are more exposed because the hip and shoulder need more give than this construction appears to offer. The negative feedback is not just a matter of taste: discomfort, hip and leg pain, and a delivered mattress feeling much harder than the display version are recurring complaints, so the marketing promise of plush comfort should be read as a cushioned top over a hard support core, not as medium comfort. Durability is the other concern. Indentations appearing early, one report of springs being felt after very little use, and the pillow-top design preventing flipping all weaken the long-term case; rotation may help, but it cannot reverse body impressions in a one-sided mattress. Movement on a divan base and awkward handling also crop up, which fits a bulky pillow-top build. It lands best for back sleepers wanting a firm, supportive memory-foam feel with some surface cushioning; side sleepers with hip or shoulder sensitivity, or anyone prioritising long-term shape retention, need a medium pocket-sprung mattress with deeper comfort layers or a more robust hybrid tier.

Specifications

Manufacturer specifications without the jargon, easy to scan and compare.

Firm comfort support rating - feels solid and supportive

A firm comfort support rating indicates a mattress that provides a robust sleep surface, offering substantial support for the spine and pressure points. This level of firmness is particularly well-suited for individuals who prefer a stable and supportive sleeping area, often helpful for those with back pain or those who sleep on their stomach or back.

100 Night Comfort Guarantee - gives you peace of mind when you buy

A 100 Night Comfort Guarantee allows for a trial period where the product can be tested in your own home environment to see if it meets personal comfort standards. If it doesn't meet your expectations, it can be returned for a refund or exchange, offering flexibility and assurance in purchasing decisions.

Contouring memory foam - adapts to your unique body shape

The memory foam layer customizes its shape to match the body's contours, ensuring improved support and pressure relief during sleep. This feature enhances comfort by evenly distributing weight, potentially reducing pressure points and alleviating discomfort.

Reduces partner motion - limits movement disturbances

With its capacity to limit movement disturbances, this feature helps maintain an undisturbed sleep environment, even when sharing a bed. It enhances sleep quality by minimising interruptions caused by a partner's movements throughout the night.

Responsive pocket springs - individually wrapped for targeted support

Individually wrapped pocket springs adjust independently to body contours, offering personalized support and reducing motion transfer. This construction enhances comfort by evenly distributing body weight, ensuring restful sleep.

Sumptuous pillow top - for an extra layer of cosy comfort

An additional pillow top layer enhances softness and delivers a more luxurious sleeping experience. This feature ensures a plush feel, contributing to an overall increase in comfort during rest.

Pressure relieving features - reduces pressure points for better sleep

Enhanced comfort results from its ability to alleviate pressure on various body parts. Improved sleep quality is achieved through reduced disturbances caused by pressure-induced discomfort.

A friend told me about the pillow top mattress and said it was worth the "uprade" and indeed it is! It is comfortable. Soft but firm. Waking up from it makes me feel as if I've been asleep after a relaxing massage! Definitely recommend this product!!

We absolutely love our new mattress. Both me and my partner have physical jobs which really take a toll on our bodies, especially our backs. This mattress has been a game changer, neither of us have moaned about our backs hurting. Not only that but weve had much better nights sleep. We got ours on a sale dreams had on over Christmas but I wouldnt hesitate to buying one full price in the future, the quality is amazing. The staff in our local store were lovely and so helpful in helping us decide which mattress to go for. Would definitely recommend!

We bought this mattress for our daughter who complained her sleep pattern was poor on her old mattress. She now sleeps much better and doesn't complain of any aches or pains. Would definitely recommend

I have only slept on my new mattress for ² nights. I am finding it extremely firm compared to the shop, i am considering possibly returning it for something softer, or purchasing a mattress topper.
