Today I'm going to review a mattress that caught my eye recently: the Flaxby Nature's Finest 8150 DNAir Mattress from Dreams. This is a luxury mattress that claims to offer natural comfort, breathability and support for a great night's sleep. But does it live up to its name? Let's find out!
First of all, let me tell you a bit about the Flaxby brand and what makes it different from other mattresses. Flaxby is a collaboration between Dreams and Harrison Spinks, a British family-owned company that has been making mattresses since 1840. They use natural materials such as wool, cotton and hemp that are grown on their own farms in Yorkshire. They also use an innovative spring technology called DNAir springs, which are made of high-grade steel wire that is twisted into coils and then wrapped in breathable fabric pockets. These springs are designed to provide optimal support and pressure relief for every part of your body.
The Flaxby Nature's Finest 8150 DNAir Mattress is one of their premium models, featuring 8150 DNAir springs in a king size mattress. That's more than twice the number of springs than an average pocket sprung mattress! The mattress also has layers of Egyptian cotton, wool and hemp fillings that help regulate your body temperature and wick away moisture. The mattress is covered with a soft and smooth damask fabric that is hand tufted for extra durability. The mattress also has two rows of hand side stitching for enhanced edge support.
So how does it feel to sleep on this mattress? Well, I have to say that I was very impressed by the comfort and quality of this mattress. It felt very plush and luxurious, but not too soft or saggy. The springs were very responsive and supportive, adapting to my movements and contours without making any noise or disturbing my partner. The fillings were very breathable and cozy, keeping me warm but not too hot or sweaty. The fabric was very smooth and gentle on my skin, adding to the overall comfort.
The best thing about this mattress is that it suits all types of sleepers: back sleepers, side sleepers, stomach sleepers or combination sleepers like me. No matter what position I slept in, I felt well supported and aligned without any pressure points or discomfort. The edge support was also very good, preventing me from rolling off or feeling like I was sinking into the sides.
The only downside of this mattress is that it is quite heavy (around 50 kg for a king size) and thick (around 30 cm), so you might need some help to move it around or flip it over every few months as recommended by the manufacturer. You also need a sturdy base or frame to support this mattress properly.
Overall, I think this is an excellent mattress for anyone who wants a natural, comfortable and supportive sleeping experience. It might be on the pricey side (around £2000 for a king size), but I think it's worth every penny considering the quality materials and craftsmanship involved. You can buy this mattress online from Dreams.co.uk or visit one of their stores to try it out yourself.
Specifications direct from the retailer that you will love.
Exclusive to Dreams products comes the 40-night sleep guarantee, available on all mattresses bought online through their retail channel. The 40-night guarantee allows you to exchange your new mattress in the event you do not find it suitable or comfortable. The benefit of this is that you get the best of both worlds with the convenience of buying online, but the luxury of being able to determine suitability in your own space. There are caveats around collection and delivery costs and minimum usage requirements, all of which are easy to meet and help give additional confidence while buying online.
Turnable mattresses are ones which have the soft comfort layer fillings on both the top and bottom of the mattress. This means that you can turn the mattress to help prolong the lifespan of the mattress while also helping with even settlement over time. We generally prefer turnable double sided mattresses over single sided mattresses because they typically last longer and so represent a different value for money.
Medium tension mattresses are generally regarded as a one-size-fits-all approach to support. This means that the average weighted person that sleeps on their back, stomach or side will typically find the support offered within this type of mattress to be suitable. Heavier people should perhaps consider a slightly firmer mattress, as should those looking for further support than standard.
A 5 year guarantee is longer than the industry standard and gives confidence that both the supplier and retailer have confidence in the product they sell. After all, if it goes wrong through a manufacturing defect in this time, they will be the ones on the hook! Sleep soundly with the confidence that you will not be left out of pocket through this period. A win for the consumer.
You should rotate your mattress so that you get the most out of it. You'll still be sleeping on the same surface, but you'll have a much more comfortable sleep because your body will be in a proper alignment as springs fillings and more have the opportunity to unsettle and prevent any dips or divots that would otherwise occur, causing potential discomfort.
The Cortec 100% recyclable pocket spring unit is an innovative new product that combines quality and sustainability. It's made of 100% recyclable material, so you can be assured it will perform well as a support layer within the mattress. Compared to traditional coils, it gives more support and durability.
With handles on all four sides, rotating your mattress is easier than ever. Rotation can help restore the softness of your mattress, as well as the quality of sleep you get.You might think handles are unnecessary, but just try moving a heavy and clunky mattress without them, I promise you, it's a pain.
Hand side stitching is manual work done against a mattress to help attach the panel to the inner springs of the mattress. Doing so helps ensure that the outer cover of the product is fully bound to the support layer within. This helps give the mattress an enhanced support around the edge.
A 5 Year Guarantee is toward the upper end for the industry. giving you a huge amount of confidence in the product while showing just how much belief the manufacturer and retailer have that you won't have issues during the products lifecycle. Typical guarantees are 1 year.
Hand tufting is a great feature as it helps secure the fillings inside helping to promote even settlement while ensuring all fillings remain consistent. The result of hand tufting is a slightly firmer feel combined with great consistently across the entire mattress.
